It was a large job

Everything went great and as planned. He actually finished early. We were told that we would need to be out of the house from Wednesday - Sunday. Recd a phone call that we could come back on Saturday. He explained what would happen and what to expect. There was minimal dust, nothing that wasn't expected. Floors looked great! We would use them again in a heartbeat!

We are new to Virginia having just moved here from Wisconsin so wasn't sure where to go to get some work done. We looked on Angie's list and found Mike Myers hardwood floor refinishers and this is a family businss with much experience behind them. The kitchen was the problem. The kitchen floor was laminate and we were originally going to replace it with tile. After some of the laminate was pulled up we discovered hard wood underneath. We asked Mike if there was anyway he could refinish the hardwood as the lamiante was stapled to the hardwood with many many staples. Mike's team sat and pulled staples for many hours. They filled the staples holes and sanded of the staples that broke off. They mixed a special color for me as I wanted a shade darker than what the stain came in. All the floors, including the kitchen, are beautiful and we would use Mike and his team again in a heartbeat! We highly recommend them!

Met w/Mr. Myers originally for an estimate - he was the only one of three that showed up as promised. He was courteous and professional. We are very particular about craftsmanship so choosing someone to do the work right was very important to us. Mr. Myers answered all of our questions and discussed what the process would entail from start to finish. He provided us an emailed hard copy estimate with complete price. Work was started on time and then completed within roughly one week as originally agreed upon. Prior to the final walk through we noticed some areas that required minor fixing and touchups (some of the shoe molding didn't take the stain, tape imprint in the poly, small section that had an orange peel type of appearance where the poly didn't lay down right, accidental shoe print in the poly). Mr. Myers listened to our concerns and walked around with us as we discussed certain aspects of the final product. He fixed all the touch ups as promised without hesitation. When it came time to pay, his original estimate was the price owed. The final end result looks good and we are very happy with the new color.

The job went very well. I had not yet moved furniture into the house, so I did not have a lot of prep work prior to the contractor starting. There was some smell from the sealer, but that was expected and by running fans in a/c units, the house aired out in a few days. There were no surprises. I feel like I got exactly what I asked for and agreed to.

Initial contact was a recommendation. Met the owner and all very pleasant and professional. Received a quote a few days later - very competitive price and with three coats of polyurethane when finished. The first day the foreman came and he was professional and spent time unhurriedly helping us chose a color of stain. Beforehand, we had removed the floor baseboard trim and stair coving (trim under the stair nose) and provided him with replacement baseboard trim and stair coving and explained they were two distinctly different designs. The rooms were isolated to catch the stray dust (did used a vacuum sander) and the whole job took 5 days which we had expected. The initial end result looked great and we are very happy with the color. Unfortunately a few days later we discovered that the two different styles of trim for the rooms and the stairs had got mixed up and there was a small patch of floor that had not been finished. The contractor replaced the trim but we were disappointed that sections of the trim were not finished to the same extent as the rest of the floor and they never came back to finish the patch on the floor. Overall the floors look great and although its doubtful anyone else would notice we were disappointed with attention to detail in some areas.

We were a bit apprehensive of what we were going to find under the carpet, but the 100 year old pine floors turned out gorgeous! He was quick to respond when I called to make the appointment, was very specific about when he could come and how long, was there when he was scheduled to be, was very responsive throughout the entire process, and finished quicker than they had expected. It was great they finished a bit early because I had work scheduled behind. I would hire Mike and his gang again.
