What a mess. I'm surprised Angie's List has a company on here where the nes station has had to approach. Paid for roofing , saw that shingles were blowing and not fitting. When we approached the worker, he said " the owner of the company measured wrong so we will be back" that was in early 2020. I called in December and they were on their way...fast forward to Aug... inwas going to get a call back. Nothing! Stay away

Sam Hardesty met me, at the agreed time, to look at hail damage and forwarded me an estimate in a few days. I had met with two other roofers and was not comfortable with the business agreement required. Sam explained his concept and after I received his estimate was pleased with the contract. Hardesty’s team arrived on time and with weather on the way explained how they were going to only do three parts of the roof that they could complete before the storm. And, we had a storm. There were no issues. Next day the roof was completed and cleaned up like they had never been there. This is a pretty big, 32Sq, steep and high up in the air roof. Gutter work was completed the next week. I received an invoice shortly after the job for the total. They are flexible with payment methods too. Company staff was easy to reach and kept me informed throughout the job.

Very well. After a few weather related delays, the Hardesty staff were able to install the two new Velux skylights. They also installed ice and water shield on the roof and then installed new shingles.
Response from Hardesty Roofing
"Thank you, Mr. [Member Name Removed]! We are glad to hear that you are happy with the new skylights. We also appreciate the time you took to review your experience with us!"

Hardesty replaced my roof in May 2018 and it failed a week later during the first rainstorm, the leak caused over $10K of damage. Hardesty agreed to repair the walls and floor boards and to take the cost of the carpet off of the final bill. We sent them our invoices, but have never received an updated bill and found out they were reneging on our agreement when we were served notice of a lawsuit . Had some "interesting" encounters with Mr Hardesty along the way, including him asking me to file a false insurance claim against his subcontractor (I have the emails proving this) so he could get paid. Fortunately I have the documents to back me up and so,I am preparing to countersue Hardesty. I'd held off posting this as we were resolving the issue but now I just want people to know what business practices to expect. Update 1/15/2020 -- after posting my previous review, Hardesty finally agreed to send us an amended invoice that included the adjustments we had agreed to to begin with-- they paid for the carpet replacement and painting of the room, we paid them a little over $2000 for the remaining cost of the roof. I was going to modify or remove the initial review when I saw Hardesty's misleading vendor response here. Suffice it to say that $3.50 per square foot is not an exorbitant cost for wall to wall carpet and that with installation the entire cost was a very reasonable $7 per foot. My advice to prospective customers is to keep records of everything you agree to if you must do business with them.
Response from Hardesty Roofing
"In response to this customer's claims. Hardesty Roofing did in fact replace the floor boards, the walls, and the underlying insualtion in the room that was damaged. Additionally, we did offer to pay for the cost to replace the carpet in that room as well. When we received a copy of the carpet invoice for approximately $9,000, including over $500 in consulting fees from an interior decorator, we were a little shocked, to say the least. We are trying to be fair and shouldn't have to bear the cost to replace the carpet in the entire house. With regard to the customer's claim of a false insurance claim, there is nothing illegal or false to file a claim against a company's (or sub-contractor's) general liability insurance for damage they caused during the project. In this case, we used a sub-contractor who was fully licensed and insured, and they casued the damage to the customer's home. Lastly, the staff and Mr. Hardesty tried to reach the homeowners on many occasions without receiving a response. There was no additional negotiation taking place as the husband verbally told Mr. Hardesty that they would not be paying any amount toward the invoice, and threatened social media if we tried to file suit. We would still like to work this out, but a $9,000 carpet bill is extreme."

Showed up on schedule, actually a little early. Evaluated and informed me of the work required. Asked if I wanted the work done. I asked how much; he said that I would need to talk to the office. I said go ahead and perform the work rather than pay for a second service call, as it was so little work, which he did. Materials consisted of a few roofing nails and a little caulk. He was at my house for less than 35 minutes. The bill came for $180.00.

Hardesty did a great job with our flat roof replacement and repairs. Dustin was very thorough with inspecting our roof and pointing out areas of concern including where we had experienced leaks. The team that came out worked extremely hard and did a great job to complete the replacement. Beyond the leaks being gone, we can also tell a difference in the insulation the new flat roof membrane provides and helps keep the house warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. In regards to the repairs, they were unable to do a few due to nature of our roof and promptly took those potential charges and an additional discount off the initial quote. Communication with them was good throughout the process. I would recommend them for repairs and flat roof replacements.

The roof was done well. The added damage to the house was the problem. The employees used don't take good care of your property. The issues were resolved later but the inconvenience of the issues took about 45 days to get resolved.

First estimate was quite a bit higher than other, so they recalculated and price was right in line with others, not lowest but their professionalism exceeded everyone else's. On time, cleaned up well, inspector was helpful to me, had to email them to ask them to bill me.

Price seemed comparable to other bids but we went with Hardesty because the estimator (Brett) had great communication skills. We were told 2 to 3 weeks to start the project - it took 6 weeks. The roofing contractor did not speak any English so it was difficult to communicate with him. He did not brace his ladder and it fell twice. Had my husband not been home, the roofer would have been stuck up there. My two-year old son and I could have been injured or killed by the ladder, which fell over our front door both times and damaged the landing. Very unsafe and unprofessional! It makes me wonder if this is the reason why this company encourages you not to be home during the project. The contractor did seem to be proficient at his work so we were not displeased with the roof. However, he threw trash, shingles and nails in our gravel driveway (no tarp) and left. We were told someone would come by to clean it up in a day. After multiple phone calls and THREE WEEKS someone finally came by to clean up the mess. We and our guests had to park in the grass for three weeks during the Christmas holidays and I could not take my son outside to play because there were roofing nails everywhere! He found them every time we walked across the driveway to get in the car. We are still finding nails several months later. Even the man who finally came to clean up complained that the roofer did not put the trash on a tarp. And the gutters pulled away from the house due to all of the debris thrown in them. We had to repair those ourselves. The last straw happened when a month after the roof was installed and clean-up finally occurred, we were told someone would come out to complete our job and install 3 soffit vents. No one showed up on the initial date we were given. A week later I got a call around 8:30 a.m. that they were coming that morning. They showed up at noon right before my son was to go down for his nap. We sent them away. They scheduled a time to come back and arrived in the morning. My husband spoke with them to make sure they knew exactly where to cut the soffit vent holes - it also clearly stated on the estimate where they were to cut the holes. He left to pick up his dry cleaning and when he came back they had started to cut 4 holes in the wrong places and could not get through the wood to install the vents (which is exactly why they were instructed to drill the 3 vent holes in a precise location)! Now we have 4 holes to patch and no soffit vents. After all this mess we have no interest in letting anyone from this company near our house again. We asked for a discount to compensate for all the issues and now having to repair the holes that they drilled into our house and were offered a small discount that was later reduced when a hidden “2nd layer shingle tear-off” charge was proffered. As a result of this new charge we were essentially offered a $147.50 discount. This will hardly compensate for the cost to have someone repair, prime and paint the 4 holes now in our house, not to mention the loss of our time dealing with all of these issues... and we still do not have our 3 soffit vents. It is an understatement to say that we were disappointed and Hardesty did not live up to its reputation.

Once the work started it was found that there was more substantial damage (water) than originally estimated. It was documented and handled very fairly by the Hardesty Roofing technician(s). The work was completed on time and there were no surprises in the repair price (after the further damage was photographed and estimated). They really were "above and beyond" with their professionalism and quality of their work.

The rainy season made for scheduling difficulties and multiple phone calls. In the end they did excellent work for a good price and I'm very happy with how it turned out. The team showed up and did a complete tear-off, replace, and cap in one day. They left the place as clean as they found it.
