"Mr [Member Name Removed]. This review is quite misleading. You contracted me in March for a three week bathroom remodel. Per our contract, I had the entire month of June committed to you. (Which you neglect to mention) After meeting with you several times between March, April, May to go over materials & order by dates, then finally on May 29th ( 0ne week before the job was to start) you still had not picked out a shower pan. So that night I was at your home yet again until 11pm trying to get you to pick out materials. You then chose a completely different shower pan than discussed that was ordered that night at midnight and took five weeks to come in. Which was 2 weeks after the entire project was to be finished. I had to reschedule / inconvienence other customers to cover most of June, the time lost due to your late choice/choosing of materials. Then when your pan came in, I spoke with your wife to get in there to start, and she said you weren't available till the August start time that you are referencing. I worked for the two weeks we agreed which you are correct. The "in stock" floor tile was out of stock as verified in writing by your wife also. Emails were then exchanged several times for a continuation date of Dec 12th. That's where you stopped communicating and never responded, at all. You seem to be forgetting that all communications are in writing for this exact reason, to protect the customer as well as myself. As well as the estimate and contract that you signed and then broke. I will be more than happy to give you hard copies of your estimate, contract, material order receipts with date, all email/text correspondence to refresh your memory if you need."
This was the second time that we decided to use Greg. The first time was for the tiling of our guest floor and shower and this time we hired him to tile our master bathroom floor and assist with design and tile our master walk-in shower. We were extremely pleased the first time that we hired him and so we decided to hire him again because of the wonderful work that he did. As always Greg is on time, professional, courteous, attention to detail, honest, and fair. We did all the demo ourselves, so when it was time for Greg to start he pretty much had a clean slate to work with. We picked out and purchased the tile and roughly designed the layout of the shower. Greg helped us work out the final details for the design and offered reasonable, honest suggestions when needed. Once all the details were decided and the contract signed, a date was set and work began as scheduled. He arrived around nine every day and ended around five-ish. During the project his attention to detail shined through along with his craftsmanship. He is very meticulous with his work and wants the customer to be happy from start to finish. He cleans up at the end of each day. As always, he consulted with us when changes needed to be made or when there was something detail/design related. It took him three weeks to complete the job, originally having scheduled two which was fine with us considering the size of the project and we know how particular Greg is with his work. For those wondering, Greg mostly works by himself but occasionally may bring in someone to help him when needed if the project is large or assistance is needed. Greg is always at the jobsite and supervises them and we never came home to a worker there and no Greg. Greg is a wonderful contractor and we would recommend him to any of our friends or neighbors. If I have future projects that need assistance, I will not hesitate to hire Greg again!
AS WITH ANY RENOVATON , YOU COME ACROSS UNEXPECTED ISSUES. I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH HIS ATTITUDE AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS IN TACKLING ANY CHALLANGE THAT PRESENTED ITSELF. ONE EXAMPLE THAT COMES TO MIND INVOLVED A SPECIAL ORDERED CABINET FROM LOWE'S THAT WAS NOT BUILT CORRECTLY, GREG KNEW
HOW TO REBUILD IT TO MAKE IT WORK.
GREG IS A VERY PROFESSIONAL, DEPENDABLE AND VERY KNOWLEDGABLE CONTRACTOR THAT SETS THE BAR HIGH
AND DELIVERS WHAT HE PROMISES.
Also, I love the fact that he blocks out the time to get it done in a timely manner...I have heard many horror stories of renovations that take weeks and weeks to do because the person they hire has many jobs at the same time. This was our master bathroom and he got the job done in 6 days!
Master Bath - I hired Greg to come in and finish the master bath, I had another company come in and tear out old drywall and replace it but I wish I had found Greg before then and had him do that as well. He tiled my floor and fabricated a "built-in" cabinet that in the end looked as if it were a part of the original structure of the house. He built the cabinet with open shelves above and three drawers on the bottom. He also tiled the entire bathroom, installed a new toilet and a new shower door. What made me decide Greg was outstanding is the fact that he hired a subcontractor to do the tiling but was so upset with how it turned out he practically tore out all that tile and reinstalled it himself.
Laundry Room - After he completed the master bath my wife and I immediately decided that we would hire him to remodel out laundry room (which is now my wife's favorite room in the house). He tore out the old linoleum and tiled the floor, repaired a wall that had a substandard repair from years before and custom built a cabinet that could hold our laundry baskets with storage below for large blankets and topped it off with a countertop that is used for folding clothes. He also tore out some old storage cabinets, replaced them with new ones, added shelving and clothes hanging rods.
We have already informed him we want him to come back in the spring and remodel the kitchen. He is very prompt, courteous, professional and extremely trustworthy.
Greg maintained contact with us and texted me the Friday prior to the Monday we were scheduled to start demolition to confirm his start time.
Each day he came to the house he came in and dropped work cloths over the wood floors and partitioned off the area of the bedroom with plastic walls to confine any dust he was creating. He would clean and remove debris as he worked and left the work area and house each day as if he hadn't been there!
He was gracious with me working from home and our two rambunctious rescue dogs who wanted him to play with them.
He went above and beyond to make sure every detail of the space was touched and he has a keen eye for detail. He even replaced the heat vent cover to match the new floor in the bathroom rather than replace with the old worn out original one.
Greg really impressed me with his professionalism, work ethic, and attention to detail. I look forward to working with Greg on many more home improvement projects in the years to come. We are loving the new space, it looks great!!
Cons: Believe it or not, none except they're in high demand
Comments: My husband and I had the privilege of meeting Greg Foster through a service I hired to complete a renovation on the master bathroom for our rental property. The service contacted Greg's company for the final installation of the bathtub/shower surround and vanity. He noticed an issue with the bathroom vanity, notified us, and recommended that we shouldn't install the product. It was indeed defective and it delayed the completion of the project for several weeks. Although the time delay was frustrating, we appreciated Greg's insight and honesty. He completed the job with the service and our bathroom looks great. We and the tenants were thrilled with his work and professionalism. We immediately recognized his extensive knowledge and experience with home renovating and contracting. So much so we contacted Greg separately several weeks later to give us an estimate on some electrical and contracting work on our master bedroom walk-in closet in our primary home. We had standard wire shelving that we wanted to remove and install a new closet system. We hired The Closet Factory to install the closet system, but wanted to change the flooring, rip out the shelving, paint, move the overhead light, and install electrical outlets. He was flexible in his scheduling to meet us after work and had a master electrician with him so we could understand the full scope of our requests. No job was too small and they even enhanced our experience by offering creative, yet affordable suggestions for the electrical outlets. The estimate was reasonable and affordable. He was also able to fit the work in accordance with the closet system installation so that we would have minimal down time. The work was completed in the approximate 2-3 business days as promised. Greg was accurate in his initial assessment of the scale and cost of our project. They were very professional and a joy to work with. We also appreciated Greg contacting us for a final follow up once the closet was completed. We viewed this as a personable touch and was well received.
Overall, we are very pleased with Foster's Home Renovation Services, LLC support, flexibility, and the quality of their responsiveness. Most importantly, they provided peace of mind for my husband and me. There was no hassling or juggling multiple demands. We are definitely using Foster's Home Renovation Services, LLC again for other projects in our home and rental property. We are confident that the job will be done to exact specifications, on time, and on budget!
About halfway through the master bath remodel, my husband and I had decided that we would have Greg complete all of the other repairs that were needed in our home. (We had just purchased our home on June 13, 2014. A 40 year old, two story colonial).
Greg once again sat down with us and we planned out the rest of the jobs: guest bathroom remodel, fixing the leak in the guest bathroom plumbing, 1/2 bath remodel, tile on the fireplace hearth, adding a bi-fold door to the pantry, replacing kitchen counter top, replacing the remaining 21 windows, remodeling door ways (where we removed doors), and fixing a huge hole in the kitchen ceiling (from where the guest bath room leaked) . Each job was priced individually, any part of the job that we did not want at that time was easily removed from the itemized list.
Greg worked in our home for approximately 2 months. Even when the window provider did not order the windows correctly and the windows had to be re-ordered at an additional cost, Greg DID NOT pass that cost along to us! I was astounded! In fact, we did not even know about the added expense until after the job was completed. When we offered to help alay some of the cost, his reply was, "The price I quoted you is the payment I expect." Imagine my surprise to have worked with not ony a fabulously talented contractor, but an HONEST contractor!!! You will not find a better person to do your repairs, at a fair price, anywhere in the Richmond, VA area!
I have recommended Greg to ALL of my friends and neighbors! In fact, he is now going to do many of the things he did for us, for my next door neighbor!
Oh... and one final note, Greg also trained my dog, Teddy, not to jump on people when they walked in my front door, NO CHARGE!
