The worst company I ever dealt with. 1. They left out ceiling fan from estimate and demanded extra for it on the project day so I bit the bullet and agreed to pay for it. 2. They changed the plan where the trench will be dug because the worker noticed how thick the wall was. Because of this, they bursted water pipe and Molly, the office worker told me I wouldn't be charged for it but then changed her word later on and demanded that I pay half of the plumber cost. I argued back and she threatened to report me and put a lien on my house. 3. I told the estimator where the water line is and that the house is 200 yrs old and probably not built up to nowadays code. But they kept saying that it is my responsibility that the water pipe broke. I mean, even if I didn't tell them, it doesn't take an expert to tell how old the house is and the water pipe is visible??? 4. Molly, the office worker can't do math and put higher amount on my first invoice. Do not trust her to bill you correct amount. 5. After bursting the pipe, they covered the area upon rough in inspection to hide it from the inspector saying it was for my convenience walking the dog, etc 6. The plumber they hired didn't fix the leak properly and was still leaking the next day. Their worker noticed it and they sent the plumber back out without letting me know to my vacant property. 7. No apologies at all after all this mess but the owner decided to tell me to 'knock it off' because I was getting upset at this ridiculous conduct. 8. Molly, the office worker couldn't even bother to tell me what time the workers were coming so I took my day off expecting them to be here in the early morning. They showed up around noon. My husband could have met them if I knew that earlier. I lost my earning for no other reason other than her laziness. Again, no apologies. 9. The ruptured water pipe caused my hot water heater to break because it was full of mud. I had to spend another $1400 to get it replaced. Record every conversation if you must hire this company. Rather, avoid this cluster of inadequate people.

I guess it is company policy to upcharge customers without notifying them before hand. I was charged for an optional item that I would've instructed them to leave off if I was notified prior to install. Service man never mentioned this to me once the job was done. I brought this up after receiving an invoice for $50 higher than original estimate, and was told the manager "will not budge". I will not support a company that conducts business this way.

It didn't go at all!!!!!! I spoke with the receptionists and told her that the panel was outside but I would make sure the dogs were inside prior to them coming. I asked that the estimate be emailed to me because I did not need to be home for outside entry. Supposedly someone knocked at the door to gain entry (which wasn't needed). When asked if they would email me the estimate I found out ONLY AT THAT TIME that it was completed. The tech now refuses to come back out! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From Company: Hi Angela, I'm sorry for the confusion, but our estimator says he's not interested in coming back out I'm sorry! Thanks, Family Electric Inc

"We are sorry you feel this way, ma'am! We sent our estimator out with a call ahead (per your request) so that you could have your daughter put up the dogs prior. Our estimator knocked on the door and was asked to wait, so he waited. Fifteen minutes had passed with no return, so he left. We were never informed that the panel was located outside. In our messages, you had indicated that you spoke to Amy informing her that the panel is located outside and to please e-mail your estimate over; we do not have an Amy. We only said we would not come back because we came out once already with no success and your thirty minutes away from our office. We apologize for any inconvenience, please feel free to call our office if you wish to discuss any further: 804-379-2700."

They showed up as scheduled and completed the project as requested. They had to put some of the line underground and could have been a little more careful in how they removed the sod and dirt for the line and replaced the dirt and grass. I had to rake and pick up some of the dirt and rocks off the grass. Other than that inconvenience they did a good job.

I had a slight problem with the electric in my RV. I was probably too critical of the time it took them to figure out the specifics of an RV's electrical system. They bent over backward to work with me and I was probably a tough customer. They ended up not charging me a penny, even though they provided a service and provided supplies. I am making a call to pay them $$. Sorry for the headaches Family Electric. You were wonderful. I was not fair.

Extremely happy with the installations. I interacted with 4 different folks with Family Electric. Everyone was courteous on the phone or in person, They did a great job installing my new ceiling fan and 4 recessed lights in my home office. Punctual and got the jobs done quickly. They cleaned up afterwords and were a pleasure to deal with.

They showed up on time and worked quickly to get the job done. My range now sits flush with the wall since they were able to recess the outlet. No more gap on the counter to drop things behind! Work done: Crawled under the house to run a new line. Installed new breaker switch for range. Cleaned up after themselves. I'd certainly hire this company again.

Was given window between 10 and 12 noon. Crew arrived at 11:45 to inform me that they would not have time to install my light and I would have to reschedule for the following Monday. I was told someone from the office would call to confirm and no such phone call occurred.

"Our arrival time is correct.... However, the reason we could not install the "CUSTOMER PROVIDED" light is because it was broken and missing items. So "Mr. [Member Name Removed]" elected not to have us install it. We did in fact call Mr. [Member Name Removed] back on Monday the 22nd, because he is on the schedule today at 3:00 pm on Tuesday the 23rd. If Family Electric had truly deserved a "D" rating, why would Mr. [Member Name Removed] have us coming back to install a new light he just purchased? We are confused by this review, because we had done everything thing a reputable company could have done. Anyone could have installed the broken light and charged the customer accordingly..........But, Family Electric does what's right !"

Excellent. Family Electric sent individuals who were knowledgeable, professional, courteous and easy to work with. They arrived on time and kept me informed on how the various work was proceeding. I would definitely hire them again (the work they did took place on two separate days at my request). They provided a detailed estimate of the work I needed to have done and then I contacted them about what I wanted to do right away vs. what could wait. They were very accommodating.

I should have seen the red flag when I first called Family - it was answered by a machine. I called Jul 8th at 10 in the morning and did not get a return call until the following Monday. They would not be able to schedule me until that Thursday, the 14th and the cost would push $200 due to a substantial minimum charge. I called them on the 13th and got the answering machine again. When Thursday arrived they called me and had to push the time frame back due to family issues. Fearing their contact service was an indicator of the quality of service I would receive I decided to call and tell them not to come. I was a bit incredulous of the minimum price. I am new to Virginia and had no experience with contractors. I called another electric service WHO ANSWERED the phone and scheduled me for the next day. It was less than half the cost. Keep in mind, this impression is based on the person who answers the phone (or doesn't in this case) and the price. I did not hire them because of these two things.

Great Job! Matt came out to perform the site survey and estimate promptly, and had the job proposal in our hands that evening. After reviewing proposals from other vendors, we selected Matt and Family Electric to do the work. This was a complete, turn-key install, with Matt coordination the propane work, county permits and inspections, and final activation and testing. As anyone who's had this kind of work done before knows, the cost of the generator is just the tip of the iceberg. When adding everything up, Matt's quote was similar to or lower than the other vendors we contacted. Once scheduled, the weather cooperated and the install went as planned. Work site was always cleaned up at the end of the day, and we knew what to expect each succeeding day as the job progressed. Matt and his co-workers are friendly and professional, and highly recommended!
