Overall the process went great. As with any property purchase, tehre were a few snafus. None of the porblems however, were on the part of the realtor, rather the folks who were buying our house and their loan processor (the processor took off early one weekend without completing the paperwork, causing us all a delay in closing). Throughout the closing process, brandon was there with us and kept us advised as to what was going on. When their loan processor dropped the ball, Brandon went to the vice-president of the bank and spoke with him directly! Only then did things start to move and I'm sure had Brandon not approached him, we would have been delayed even longer.
When selling a house, make sure that it is clean and uncluttered. I don't know how many houses we went into that were dirty with clothes piled up and such. ONe key to our success was that the realtor showed us how to make our house appear move in ready. This necessitated renting out a storage unit but it was well worth the trouble. It was also on Mr Smith's advice that our yard was planted with fresh flowers and the lawn was mowed regularly. This gave us quite an advantage. Also, on his advice, we painted the rooms in neutral colors (pale yellows, tans, off-white) and took all our personal photos off the walls and stored them away.
