From what I understand, they placed sensors in my transmission to accommodate for any problem areas in my transmission. It should work better than before. Service was great. I brought my car back for a 15 day evaluation. I also have a 24,000 mile warranty. It wAs more expensive but the quality of service was above average.

Just before a trip to NYC, all my "idiots" lights came on, like something was trying to keep me from my trip.
I have used Chesterfield Transmissions (CT) before and so I brought my truck back to them. Because of all the problems which pop up at once, I rented a car and left on my vacation.
During the trip, they called me and keep me updated with what they were doing. They found the problems, there was a couple of things wrong besides the lights going off and gave me options to fix them.
When I got back they had my truck ready to go at the price we talked about on the phone. In fact they did some extra work for no charge.
The local Chevy dealer wanted to charge me an extra $500 to fix an Air Conditioning Problem, but since they CT already had the problem exposed, they waived the labor charge. (Actually CT was about a $1000 less than the Chevy dealer and other shops said that they would have to work thru the Chevy dealer)
This repair shop is like the ones I used to know. Respectful to their customer and truthful in their pricing. My only "problem" is that with their great service, I keep putting off buying a NEW truck.

I arrived at shop around 9 am. It took a few minutes to get car inside. I just sat and waited until the tech called me back to show me what he was doing. He explained process and showed plug wire and loose bolts. Tech also suggested other service the 1994 car could use. Overall a good experience. Mr Parrish runs a fair and professional shop. He loves to talk about cars and NASCAR racing.

Wray insisted on performing an initial diagnostic on the vehicle for $100 despite the fact that my general mechanic had already performed it and determined that there was a problem with the transmission. This was the first warning sign.
After confirming what we already knew, Wray quoted us $550 for the detailed transmission breakdown and diagnostic. This cost was to be applied towards the transmission repair. I asked him to estimate roughly how much it typically cost to repair our type of transmission and he said $3,000 but that it could more or less depending on the amount of damage.
After the transmission diagnostic was performed, Wray called and told us that the transmission was severely damaged and would probably cost around $4,000 to repair. He suggested allowing him to investigate replacing the entire transmission instead because it would cost less. I don't know why he didn't look into that before calling me since it's obvious I would want to do that. Instead I told him to look into that option.
He called back a day or two later and said he'd found a used transmission he could put in for around $3,500 and I told him to go ahead with the repair. The next day he called back again and said that he couldn't honor the $3,500 price because his supplier had accidentally quoted him the price for a motor instead of a transmission. The actual price was $4,000. At that point it wasn't worth fixing the car any more so my wife went to his shop to pick it up. He refused to give her the car back and she eventually left in tears.
I called Wray the next day to sort out the problem and he finally agreed to prepare the car for towing and didn't charge us for anything. This is the only reason I gave him a "D" grade instead of an "F".
This business is run in a poor and unprofessional way, where the object seems to be to entrap customers into huge repair bills. The price for the repair kept increasing and I got the feeling Wray was just testing me out to see how much I'd be willing to pay before settling on a price. I would never return.

"I do not know of a reputable repair facility that would not perform there own diagnostic ($98.50) before performing any major repair and inspection services where required If that shop is going to perform repair they need to know what they are dealing with. The real problem is the customer lose faith in Chesterfield Transmission because of estimating costs before knowing the damage. The supplier did quoted a price for an engine and not the transmission and would not work with me on it. I could not give the car back when his wife came in the transmission was not packed up nor could it be driven. I had told [member name removed] I would call when it was packed up and I had not made that call. I do pride myself on being professional and my A+ rating with the BBB and A rating on Angie's List is not taken lightly I work hard to get those ratings."

Chesterfield Transmission did a good job and were fair at the time of service. They were very thorough and professional in completing their job. They made sure that the transmission was not noisy when the engine was running, and that the car shifted gears.
