Cary's Mill Woodworking

Process was smooth and what I expected from the first to last step. Steve was great to work with and the install guys did a great job. Really, really happy with final product, which was a custom bookcase the length of the wall (essentially 5 bookcases/cabinets side by side that are all one piece and flow).

Cary's Mill was one of three companies that I reached out to to give me an estimate for installing floor to ceiling built-in bookcases. Steve came out to my house and we talked for a very long time; he wanted to know exactly what I wanted done.  I knew that I wanted the bookcases in the spaces on either side of my fireplace in my family room and I wanted them to look like they were built in and carried on the existing crown molding and baseboard design.  Steve is great at his job; he is extremely personable and has a great eye for design.  He was very patient with me through all of my very detailed questions and he never rushed me; he really wants to get it right for his customers. In our meeting, Steve did a sketch of his idea of what I was looking for; it had a lot of detail and looked amazing! I asked Steve for references which he was happy to provide; one of his prior customers even invited me to her home to take a look at the work that Cary's Mill had done (it looked great). Once I decided that I wanted to hire them for the job, I put half down and they started working on the blueprints.  Once they were ready, Steve brought them to me to review and to go over anything that needed to be changed. 
On installation day, three people came: two gentleman brought all of the pieces to install and then left and one was there to actually do the installation.  It took him about 6 - 6 1/2 hours to complete the work and he ended up doing a horrendous job!!Evidently this guy was a subcontractor to Cary's Mill; Cary's Mill had worked with the company before and had a great experience but had never worked with this particular contractor.  I called Steve immediately and he came over the next day to take a look at the work.  Steve was shocked at the work and said he had never seen such a poor job.  He was embarrassed that the work was associated with Cary's Mill and told me that he would talk with the owners of his company and get back to me asap to let me know their plan to correct it. He did just that. He let me know the next day that Ben (one of the owners of the company) would re-do the work himself to my satisfaction.  So, they took everything out and patched up holes, dents, mistakes, etc. to bring it back to where it was before the installation so they could start from scratch.  Then he came back a couple of days later to put everything back in.  This company stands by the work they do.  Ben did an amazing job- the look is EXACTLY as I envisioned and the attention to detail was great!  Love it!  I gave them an "A" rating because even though the first installation didn't go well, Cary's Mill went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied with the work in the end.  I would absolutely hire them again and won't hesitate to recommend them!
