"I appreciate the comment. Home Depot REQUIRES a certain supplier, which was out of that color material. We are at the mercy of the supplier and their commitments, and typically will use our network of suppliers to procure when one or the other is out of stock."
"Thank you for trusting us with your countertops and thanks for taking the time to give us valuable feedback. I'm sorry about the confusing billing situation. We're looking at our records to find out what went wrong and improve our process. I hope you and your family are enjoying a wonderful holiday season! Many thanks, Rebekah Hollins, Capitol Granite"
At the same time, they also miscut a piece of granite that was supposed to go into my wife's bathroom. They made it the dimensions of the counter in our other bathroom. She had to pick out a different piece of granite because there was none left in our original slab.
We had a meeting with the operations manager, installer, and saleswoman. To their credit, they credited us with a thousand dollars to compensate us for the blunders. They also paid for the floors to get fixed although it took about six weeks for that to happen.
I picked out a beautiful piece of granite for the counter in our second bathroom. Incredibly, they miscut this piece also! They next cut a second piece from the same slab, but it broke. With no more granite left, they found identical granite at another company in Richmond. However, the manager refused to sell me a similar size piece of granite and instead was going to make me buy an entire slab of granite, to correct their mistake! This left me having to pick out a different piece of granite, one I do not like as much. Because of these problems, we paid them half of what they wanted to charge us for this piece.
After starting in April with capitol granite, they finally finished the work in mid-July. In summary they incorrectly cut three large pieces of granite for three different countertops. The manager refused to call me back when I tried to talk to him about the last piece of granite. Their operation reminds me of the Keystone cops or circus clowns. I recommend dealing with them only if you thrive on stress and frustration. As the expression goes, "Be afraid, be very afraid".
"Dear Member, Thank you so much for your honest feedback. I sincerely apologize that we failed to meet your expectations throughout the installation of your new granite countertops. As an owner, I look forward to customers' comments. The positive feedback gives us the opportunity to provide commendation to one of the over 80 employees we have working here at our Midlothian office. And, when we fall short of meeting expectations, we value the opportunity for ongoing training and overall improvement of our process. I personally made a trip to your home in an attempt to resolve all outstanding issues both from a monetary standpoint as well as service and satisfaction standpoint. Mistakes were definitely made. We acknowledged them, took responsibility, and made every effort to make things right with you in the end. We're sorry we let you down. At Capitol Granite, we strive to make each customer experience a delight, from picking out your raw material to template, delivery and installation. When we have failed to provide a positive experience for you, we will always do our best to fix the situation as quickly as possible. If you're interested, I'd like to invite you back to the shop for a plant tour with myself and the Production Manager. This would allow us the opportunity to better explain our process, and perhaps provide some answers as to why your project was not as successful as the typical Capitol Granite install. To schedule a visit, please reach out to me directly through email at [email protected]. Sincerely, Brian Ellis Vice President"
They came out and did my laser template. When my counter was delivered they had cut the holes for the faucet in the wrong place. They offered several "fixes" but I did not want to settle for a design change. They told me it would take another 2 weeks to get another counter cut and delivered. This put my kitchen project on hold for 2 weeks, I had to re-schedule my sub-contractors.
My total out of pocket costs for their error was greater than $300.00. I had to pay my tile guy for 1/2 day since I canceled him the night before he was to start work. I had to pay my installer to re-install my old counter top and plumbing, which no longer fit on the base due to the build-up required for the new counter top. The told me they would not provide me with any additional discount to cover my out of pocked expensed incurred due to their error. They referenced the fact they were already giving me my "Costco discount"
Both times that they came to install my counter, they arrived several hours later that what they told me. They never called to tell me they were going to be late. The first install they were to arrive before 5:30 pm, at 6:10 pm, I had to call and see where they were. The second install I was assured that I had the first install of the day "around 8:30 am" by 10:30 am no one had arrived, and when I called was told that they had "2 other small jobs to do before me" I like my contractor, but watching him stand around on the clock, waiting for the installers makes me angry.
With the 2 week delay and my extra incurred expenses, this counter cost me significantly more than their competitors price.
The most disappointing part of this, other than my sales person, on one at Capitol Granite seemed to care that they caused me significant project delays, and costs, and when they knew I was not happy with their service made no attempt the turn the bad experience around.
