Communication was good throughout scheduling and service. We had pump and ozonater replaced. Kevin was extremely helpful with the repair as well as instructing us on maintennace anf making product recommendations.

Did not have this company come to my house because he stated in 2013, "I am not a pool tech" but yet told my warranty company he could service my pool. He is not a member of the BBB and he himself told me to check him out on Angie's List. Well, I did and I am glad I did!! He stated in 2013, that he does not do pool repairs but yet he stated on Angie's List that he has more than 20 years of "making repairs" to pools. Which is it? You The information is very conflicting.

Kevin called the same day.  We set up an apptmt.  He arrived promptly; checked things out; answered all questions, and replaced a drain plug.  We were happy with service.  Price was very good considering that service providers in all fields charge somewhere between $45 to $100 to come out and look at anything.

Kevin is incredible.   He is quick to respond and sets up a date within a couple of days.  He does great work including circuit board replacements.  The price is reasonable.  I can't highly recommend him enough and he can repair anything.  He has been doing this for so long that he can diagnose the problem immediately.

When Kevin was first hired, he was asked to provide a price quote to fix the leaks in my hot tub.  Instead of providing the quote, he did hte work and called to tell me how much it cost.   When he left, he did not fill the tub or see if it was working properly.   The following weekend, I filled the tub and noticed that it was leaking again.  I called Kevin and asked him to come back out to take a look.  When he did, he said he found a new leak and that he fixed it - with an additional charge.    Once again, I filled the tub, and the electrical did not work.   The electrical worked before Kevin fixed the last leak.    Once again, I called him up and asked him to come out and fix the electrical.  When he did, he said it was a result of the leak he fixed (accept it wasn't fixed) and that I owed him more money for the electrical repairs.  
I filled the tub once again, turned on the electrical and to my surprise, I had another leak.   Or, maybe it was the initial leak - it is hard to tell when the initial leak was never fixed. 
I have texted Kevin and called many times asking him to please review the most current leak.  He was supposed to come out weeks ago and yet the work has never been completed.   I am now out $500 and still do not have a functioning hot tub.

"This is a classic case of owner neglect of the spa. When I showed up, the spa was left with water in it to freeze. And it did. I quoted a price to fix the leaks that I could see. ( spa built in an enclosed sunken deck). In the spa business , whe you fix a leak it requires adhesives that can't get wet immediately. That leak was fixed. Upon refilling spa she noticed she had another leak, ( wasn't the same one). This leak was on a higher plane of the spa level. Water got into her electrical box as a result. I came back and fixed that leak and her electrical components. Weeks later she called and said there was another leak. ( remember tub was allowed to " freeze". I came back out and to her I would have to disassemble her deck in an area to access the leak. She told me , at that time that she was selling the house and if it costed more than $100 more to repair she would get her contractor to remove it and deck over the repair for that cost. ( sounds kinda cheap for a contractor). And that she would call me back after she thought about it. I have not heard from her. Then I saw this. It's a real shame that I went out there repeatly to no added expense. Frozen broken spas can be complicated. I explained this. Upon reading this an if you have questions , please call me. Working with Southern Spa Service could not be easier. I send them a message via Angies List and got a call very quickly. They came out to our home and got the Spa up and running in very short order and explained, in terms I understood, what was going on. I'll definitely use them again if I have a problem.

Everything went fine. Kevin called with 15 minutes of me contacting him through Angie's List.
My husband had been doing all of the service on the spa but was stumped as to why the heater would not turn on. Kevin was here and working on it and within a half hour or so had it fixed. No complaints and I would call him again.
The only thing I would do differently is to establish the price up front. That was OUR fault because my husband talked to Kevin on the phone but I was here for the service. I asked for the 10% AL discount and Kevin gave it to me.  I was surprised at the fee for the service, but admittedly he got the spa working when we couldn't and I am happy for that.

Kevin is just great!  I use him exclusively to service my hot tub.  He is so easy to work with and makes every effort to schedule an appointment. as quickly as possible.  I have learned that Kevin develops a relationship with the clients who regularly use him.  On this trip he did a couple of extra small things gratis.  I really appreciated it, since I have had a few repairs lately. I most appreciate the fact that I can call him and trust that he will be out to fix the problem, and follow up by calling me at the conclusion of the work.  I can always trust him to do the work honestly and for a fair price. I highly recommend Kevin Spencer and Southern Spa.

I was very pleased with the service I got from Southern
Spa.  My 9 year old Leisure Bay Spa has
leakage around the pump and motor wouldn?t startup each year without a
screwdriver assist to free motor Kevin correctly diagnosed that both pump and
motor needed to be replaced.  He saved me
$55 with a new pump/motor he had over price from Leisure Bay, and total cost
was quoted at $475.  I had checked with
other Spa Repair Services and they were significantly more expensive.
The only problem I had was the initial new pump/motor
installed didn?t work properly and tripped my electrical breaker.  Kevin apologized and ordered another new pump
and motor from his supplier.  It took about
a week, but Kevin came out promptly after delivery and installed new pump/motor
which has worked perfectly from the first time on after it was installed. He
didn?t charge me for second service call for additional trip to install second
new pump/motor; in fact, he gave me a discount on my quoted price for my hassles
in the repair delay. He also provided a one year warranty on anything he
touched.
I will definitely use Southern Spa Service again for any future
Spa repairs I have.

I asked Kevin to come out and look at my hot tub to see what was wrong and give me an estimate.  He was late, which I didn't mind so much.  But when he looked at my hot tub he gave me a verbal estimate to replace the pump of $415.00.  He put nothing in writing, which I know I should have asked for.  I waited for him to get the part.  He gave me no estimate on time.  When he finally came to replace the pump, he never verbalized that it would cost more.  Took my credit card and charged me $450.00.  I asked him why there was a $35.00 increase from the estimate.  Kevin said he forgot to tell me about the shipping charges.  I didn't think quick enough at the time to dispute the bill but later called him and told him how unprofessional he was to overcharge me.  He just took my credit card and charged what he wanted without even telling me of any additional charges.  I told him I felt scammed and that he should stick to the original estimate.  He laughed but apologized and said he would credit me $35.00 to the credit card I used or send me a check for the difference.  He never called, never credited my card or sent me a check.  I will never use him again.  I feel scammed!  I wish I had followed up on it but I am a busy person and now too much time has passed.  VERY DISGUSTED!!!!

"In response to this review I would like to point Out , that I called her to tell her I was running behind schedule. Secondly , I did overlook the fact that the shipping for A 40 pound pump was$35. I expressed that to her at the time and she paid for the shipping. It was a phone call later that she called me wanting her $35 dollars back. For the sake of pleasing my customers I told her ok, and DID charge back a refund of $35. I love doing business for my customers and want to make them happy, sometimes at my expense. Can't say enough good things about Kevin's service.  We looked Kevin up on Angie's List, called on a Sunday, left a message asking if he could help us on Veteran?s Day with our broken hot tub.  Kevin returned the call in about 10 minutes, said he would work us into his Monday schedule and would call 15 to 30 minutes before coming out.  He came the next day, as promised, opened up the hot tub and diagnosed a malfunctioning thermostat in about 10 minutes.   Very friendly, very professional.  While wrapping up the thermostat installation, he called to my attention a circuit board that was likely to fail at some point in the future.  We discussed options, he had a remanufactured replacement board (at less than half the price of new, and with the same warranty as new), and installed the board in another 15 to 20 minutes.
He was here about an hour, and had the hot tub up and running.  It was a pleasure doing business with him, I would absolutely recommend him to any Jacuzzi hot tub owner having issues and/or needing service or repairs.

Kevin is a professional.
He is  very knowledgeable,  and has a very positive attitude, along with being extremely professional
Kevin detailed the attributes of rebuilding the old pump,  or replacing it with a more modern and efficient unit.
We replaced the unit and he installed the new pump.
One of the things that Kevin did that we appreciate,  is that he explained all his procedures, and gave a quick lesson in how the hot tub operates,  and what was needed to get it working efficiently again.
Oh by the way,  he also did a full check of the components,  and systems,  to ensure that the  spa would perform to all our expectations.
Excellent experience and he will be recommended to all our friends who need a good tub or spa mechanic.

Kevin fixed my spa when it seemed like no one else could.   The prognosis was so dim I had it listed for sale.   The last guy I had out,   with many years in the business gave up on my spa and left it in non running condition and would not  even return to fix what he had done.  Kevin Spicer  got it running  in a couple of hours.  I was nearly in a state of shock when only a few hours after he left I was sitting in my spa..hot...jets running and all.  He encounterd numerous electrical and pump  problems but fixded with a positive...don't worry I've got it attitude. I have since referred him to two friends in need of spa repair.  May God bless Kevin!

Despite the need for a couple of follow-ups on my part to get a response from the provider, all else worked well.  He came out (as we arranged) and took measurements and gave me a full cost proposal for the new cover and removal and disposal of the old cover.  Right about when I was going to follow-up with him as to delivery estimates, he contacted me to tell me that the new cover had arrived.  We set a date and time for delivery and he was right on time.  All in all, it was a satisfactory experience.
