MECHANICSVILLE ANIMAL HOSPITAL

I love them. The vet is very personable. I think they're skilled. I've never had anything bad happen to any of my pets. We've been taking them there ever since we moved, over 10 years. The staff is very friendly. I've never had any kind of bad experience there. They're more reasonable than our previous vet.

We were trying to find someone who was open late. He was an indoor/outdoor cat, and we ended up picking him up as a stray. We did basic care and he was happy. When the vet saw what his symptoms were, she said that she would have to do a whole lot more testing, and he would have to be on medication for all of the possible scenario's. He didn't like to be picked up or petted. It would have been too hard. He wasn't a cat that liked to be handled and it would have been too hard to get a pill down him. He wasn't eating well, so we couldn't get it in his food. It was a hard decision. It was $55 for the office visit, and the euthanizing was $77. I thought that was really high. A couple of days earlier when I called them, they said that it would be $65. I called them the next day after that and they said that their prices had just gone up. I just happened to catch the increase. The doctor was new and she was extremely nice. She was very compassionate and she didn't rush us. She allowed us a lot of emotional time to make our decision. Then they allowed us more emotional time to get to the point of putting him to sleep. She gave my daughter advice on her cat that has diabetes and how to get him better. There is another doctor there. I like Dr. Dugan. The prices went up and caught me in the going up point.

I have been using Mechanicsville Animal Hospital for about 6 years. I have always been happy with them. Dr. Beatles has always been a warm caring vet. She is good with my dog, and provided additional testing, She made a diagnosis, then provided the drugs and change in dog food because of a renal condition. My dog has responded well. Dr. Beatles explains things well and provides options. I will use them again.

I have used Mechanicsville Animal Hospital since we moved here in 2000 and would not take my pets anywhere else. All the doctors are compassionate and attentive. Dr. Kilgore has performed surgery on one of my cats and I have received compassionate "end of life" advice with two of my elderly cats. The office hours are great, open in the evenings and 1/2 day Saturday.

We got 2 dogs and I like each one of them. They have full facilities there, almost completely full facility. So most of everything can be taken care of. I know there's a couple of special things that they don't do there like heart, ultrasounds and a couple of things like that but the most part they take care of everything. They're convenient. Their prices are in line with most of the others.

I had a very good experience with Mechanicsville Animal Hospital. The hospital is always in perfect order. The prices are fair and they do good work. You always get your dollars worth with them. I highly recommend them.

Dr. Calgore is the vet here and I just loved him. I have lost my dog now but when I did go here, they were just great. They are very caring and all. To tell you the truth, I really do not know what I was charged. Things varied from time to time. I never thought they were outrageous or anything. One thing I really liked is that the vet actually had better equipment than my doctor did. My dog had to be x-rayed while he was eating and the x-rays were done all on computer rather than pictures. It was pretty neat.

Obviously cares about animals. Considers and explains all options and costs. Easy to get an appointment. Calls to discuss anything he has done and lab results. He has been a great vet, and I highly recommend him.
