NRC Landscape Construction LLC

We just purchased a new house and wanted to improve the layout of the backyard in order to create an outdoor space for entertaining and for the kids. We originally gravitated to simply installing a large retaining wall to manage the slope of the backyard and started contacting contractors to provide quotes and established plans for them to look at the property. I was hesitant to contact NRC as their website has many larger projects and I was concerned that I wasn't sitting on a big enough project for the company. I was wrong - he stated several times that he loves projects like mine because he can see results so quickly and still really see a distinct change. As soon as we contacted Nick at NRC, he started pulling data from the county Geographical Information System (GIS) and the real estate listing in order to better understand my situation. He told me that he could build me a retaining wall, but that wouldn't be the best use of my space and money. He immediately developed a vision and was excited to take a look at my backyard in person and do great things for my family. While many of the other contractors focused on replacing the aging and rotten wooden ground-level deck with a stone or paver patio, Nick had a vision that included a patio with a retaining wall - which would help tame the slope behind the wall - and an area in which I could place a playset for the kids. He also identified other ways to truly make use of my backyard space as well - to include the large trees providing shade over the backyard. He clearly thought outside of the box and approached it from a "what would I do if this was my house" standpoint. He genuinely seemed excited at the prospect of working on my space and got us excited too. We signed up right away. Throughout the build, Nick communicated effectively, explained what was happening, and was responsive to change requests and questions. His crew was courteous and did their best to not be in the way with their vehicles and equipment. At the end of each day, they made sure to clean up and put their stuff out of the way. When his crew cleared away some brush and found a huge stump, he quickly and clearly communicated the development and the cost of the stump removal. When he saw that our original plan for the playset area would be more expensive and dangerous than we originally realized, he had an alternative suggestion ready to go. Although we ended up higher than we originally budgeted, that was due to our changes and choices (if you're gonna do it at all, go all the way!), but Nick's pricing was consistent (no surprises), well-communicated, and competitive with the 1/2 dozen other contractors we called out. In fact, Nick offered a bit more for the same price. The space is all done now and I couldn't be happier. We have more room to enjoy being outside and a playset is on the way for the kids. The whole thing just looks amazing. It's really a dream patio! Nick's addition of lighting truly kicks the whole thing up a notch and looks amazing. As he said at the outset, "I want to build you something you'll enjoy looking from inside the house, both day and night". He totally achieved that! I will wholeheartedly recommend Nick and NRC to my friends and neighbors and I look forward to working with them again in the future.

Great job all around. My patio looks fantastic, and Nick had the best price out of 3 prices that I got from other contractors off of Angie's list. Nick was able to get in and start work a little less than 2 weeks after signing and was able to complete the job within the week - it would have been likely quicker if it hadn't been for some rain. All of the crew were strong english speakers. Will hire again in a heartbeat if I have any more of this kind of work to do.

Nick was very helpful and responsive. His team did a great job in demolishing, regrading and pouring an expanded drive way.

He was excellent. He was prompt and technically very astute with respect to retaining wall designs and the mechanics of laying concrete. He finished on time. The price was competitive. My neighbor used them and they used them again this spring. I would use them again in the future.

The overall process was stress free and enjoyable. From the first visit with Nick (the owner of the company) I knew this would be a easy process. He was early to the appointment and he was already out in the yard getting some ideas when I got there. After some talking we got to the project. Nick asked me very good questions and showed me some examples when I was confused. After an hour of talking about the project, what we want out of the patio, how we will use it and some good old conversation he was off. The next morning I had a full proposal explaining everything included, a 3d color design with measurements and and he even included a secondary design. After a couple of revisions I felt comfortable with the design. As far as price, NRC was not the lowest bidder, but, he came very close. I personally have never gone with the lowest bidder for a lot of reasons. He was realistic with his price and we had no change orders. I had 3 companies bid for the project and his proposal and design was no comparison to the competition. The proposal was very descriptive and i knew exactly what I was getting. A simple deposit and we were on our way. Before starting the project, Nick asked me what time is okay to start work (which was very nice to have as an option) and I said 7am. He or his crew were on site everyday at 7-8am untill the project was finished. I had some changes half way threw. "No problem!". Like I said, this was a stress free experience. The day they finished, Nick had his landscape crew do the final grading and mulching. All the materials used for the project were new. The materials were placed in a good location and not blocking the street. He was respectful and very dog friendly. He cleaned up and powerwashed the driveway and the were gone. The project took 3 weeks from start to finish and I am very pleased with NRC and Nick's control over the project. I plan on working with Nick on future projects with my properties.
