I've got a cheapie silver necklace chain that busts if yanked too hard (on a different link, I noticed). This place repairs it while I wait for $10, which is a little steep (more than I paid for the necklace now), but they're so quick and convenient and local that I don't mind. 
I now notice they do watch batteries. Gotta plan another trip! 
I hate parking and hiking into a mall jeweler for this kind of service. I like having a one-stop shop.

Rating based on my own lack of preparation, not the merchant's professionalism. Could have been an A if I were more informed. Process was very interesting. Merchant provided a basic education of how gold was evaluated based on carat weight and how percentage of actual gold was determined. Final price was based on percentage of pure gold content and weight. The B rating rather than A is just because I don't have any expertise in this area so even though I was very satisfied I have no way of knowing if I was given a fair price.

To whom it may concern,
I visited Va. Gold Buyers on 11-22-13.I was new at pawning and not familiar with their polices that were written in contract. I assumed from talking with the gentleman that the diamond/14k gold ring I left with him for $200 that when I decided to come pick up my ring it would cost $12 a month that it was there.Never once did he explain to me that I had to come in each month and pay him the $12.00. I came back to retrieve my ring on March 21st with cash in my hand to pay the $12 monthly fee.At that time he told me he did not have my ring anymore (did not know whether he sold it or melted it).This ring had a $5000 value along with that it was my 25th anniversary ring where I worked and I stressed that issue when I pawned it and I would be back to pick it up.
Well after the 15 days following the first 30 days he took it and who knows where my 25 years of hard work went.He basically stole the $4,800 worth and put in his coffer.
You know my phone number was written very large across the bottom of the contract
HE NEVER CALLED ME ONCE TO TELL ME IM GOING TO SELL YOUR RING IF YOU DONT COME IN AND MAKE PAYMENT --NOT ONCE.
NOR DID I RECEIVE ANYTHING IN WRITING ABOUT THE ISSUE.

iS THIS ANYWAY TO DO BUSINESS!!!!!! NOT ONLY DID HE STEAL THE MONEY BUT HE TOOK AWAY MY 25 YEARS OF HARD WORK.

The store is tucked away in a new area with a bunch or other random stores in a generic commercial building.  You must ring the doorbell to get in, which is understandable given the high priced jewelry they have in the store.  They responded immediately to the doorbell, sat down with me immediately and quickly took care of everything I was there for.  The gentleman I worked with was friendly, professional and efficient.  
The salesman valued three gold rings, a few sets of gold hoop earrings, and a few gold bracelets - most were 14 karat.  He offered me over $600 dollars for these items, which I happily accepted.  Because they do not purchase gems, he removed the gems from the gold settings and gave them back to me in a small plastic baggy.  
My second task was to have a battery changed in my Omega Seamaster watch (high quality).  Most jewelers will keep the watch for at least a week and charge $25 to change the battery.  This gentleman changed the battery while I waited (only took a few minutes) and then charged me only $10.
This was a great experience and I will definitely be using this store again for any future jewelry needs.

worked out the price I received.  I know it's hard to decide the best
way to handle this type of transaction without a lot of knowledge, but

will definitely be back to them for any future jewelry making needs,
jewelry selling, etc.

I don't know if I could have gotten more somewhere else but the owner was extremely friendly, helpful, gave me an estimate in less than 10 mins and cash right away. It was a good experience.

I actually sold my gold. I had a couple broken necklaces and bracelets. They are very professional and gave me the more than any other store in town! I came back for a second time and they bought the gold and are now making me a new necklace that I designed from my old gold!
