Outdated bloodwork and ultrasound not completed properly. Very expensive and poor quality of services. Do not recommend

I've been taking my animals (3 dogs, 2 cats) to McLean Animal Hospital for 10 years and have always received top notch service from front office staff, techs, and Dr's.

Great! Dr. Clark, was very professional in that, because my 3 yr old Lab has great fear of hospitals, perhaps due to being vaccinated twice on same day by another hospital, which led to vomiting, more hospitals, and more vaccinations,, As such, as soon as puppy, since it was first time at Mclean Hospital, sensed it was a hospital he started shaking, and turned around. I asked Dr. Clark to come outside, and examine pup outside and asked him to prescribe and antibiotic, which he refused. He was able to calm puppy a bit, and we went inside hospital, Dr Clark took half hour of thorough physical examination, and advised that no antibiotic at this time, since such infection should go away within a week. He was right on the money! Very thankful to him for that. Contrast this to another hospital where puppy was taken for one of its early routine shots and vet surprised me by sending another vet in her place, and such vet, however pleasant, surprised me even more by advising the rabies shot at this time. Not only , in my unprofessional opinion puppy was barely over the age to administer vaccine, I am a believer in not :"nuking" a pup on same day with multiple shots, evidenced by the outcome, that within 2-3 days pup started vomiting, which recently I discovered that such was a side effect. At that time, the owner of the Hospital stated to me, that the vomiting and the shots were unrelated.. eg she was telling me it was a pure coincidence, never mind, that puppy had not vomited previously. As such, we not longer took put to that hospital, and started taking pup to Blue Mt. Animal Hospital in Luray, Va, , yes, quite a ride, but there, ANOTHER , DR CLARK, WAS EXCELLENT WITH BOTH OF MY PUPS. , SINCE MY NEW NEIGHBOR WORKS AT MCLEAN ANIMAL HOSPITAL, SHE INTRODUCED ME TO SUCH HOSPITAL AND AS SUCH, AS ALLUDED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE REVIEW I TOOK THE LAB THERE FOR HIS INFECTION, AND THE WONDERFUL, ALSO NAMED DR CLARK, EXAMINED THE LAB , REFUSED MY REQUEST FOR ANTIBIOTIC WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE CORRECT, SINCE THE PUP IS DOING GREAT AFTER THE VISIT, RATHER THAN BEING SICK AS IN PREVIOUS CASE ALSO ALLUDED ABOVE. IT REMINDS ME OF A CAR THAT I HAD, THAT HAD NO ISSUES, EXCEPT AFTER TAKING IT TO A SHOP FOR MAINTANANCE, AND 90% OF THE TIME, I LEFT THE SHOP AND CAR HAD ISSUES, LENGTHY REVIEW, AND CAPS, BUT I HOPE IT HELPS.

They are very responsive, They've been my vet since 1977. Her checkup is due every March. Of course I have had several dogs during this past 40 years. I would absolutely use them again. They also board there occasionally. Their boarding is wonderful. Its' a very well organized well run office. They are always attentive. If people medicine was as well organized as this, We'd all be better off. The dogs like going there, they never like to leave me but they are ok. I haven't boarded them recently, but i have used it.

McLean has caused our family so much heartache, so many tears. We received the $473 bill for the euthanasia and memorial cremation of our golden retriever. I was shocked over the cost to have the ashes returned- $266 of the $473 total. There is NO WAY I would have asked for the ashes had I known the cost, but I was not told the cost. Apparently, I was not mentally present enough during the dog's last moments to request a pricing write up of our options for her remains. Dr. Sexton insists that my asking, "I dunno. Is that expensive?" rather than, "I dunno. How much does it cost?" does not amount as a request for a price estimate. Therefore, we are liable for the extra $266, which is a very expensive cost for asking the wrong question in my dog's final moments. We've been going to that vet for 28 years, all the way back to when I asked the doctor to take me on a facility tour, since I wanted to be a vet when I grew up. Despite explaining all of this to Dr. Sexton (practice owner), via Susan Claflin (practice manager), he would not budge. No benefit of the doubt. No kindness to a grieving customer of 28 years. Just a pinch of the penny. Forget the thousands we've given them during the lives of seven pets. Poor Susan was put in an awful position as Dr. Sexton wouldn't even call me himself. We'll pay our $473 bill. But it is our last bill there. *also, after boarding in 2016, my dog was returned to me with her leg covered in feces. The bath was comped, thanks to Susan.

See above. I refuse to use them again. There was no apology and the cut was terrible, but I didn't want them touching my dog again.

They were very good about that. They did very well.

They were excellent on that visit, they were very good in all respects. They're very friendly. There is one guy at the reception area who is just a light bulb. He is so sweet and is so friendly. Every time you're there you're happy. I love him. They're all very nice there. They're very accommodating, when you call there to get an appointment. I've had good service there.

I use them for vet services and boarding. Kenneling is $26 per night and their kennel service is really good. They take good care of the animals. Their prices are a little bit high but, they are convenient and close. I am willing to pay more because of their proximity to where I live.

I have been going here for about five years. The staff is nice and they are professional. We see whoever is available for appointments. However, they are very expensive. Overall, I am satisfied with their service.

We found them on Angie's List. Their services were excellent. What stood out was the fact that when I called their office, they took the time to talk to me. I explained the situation as to why I needed to come in to see a vet, and they were able to give me an appointment time that was convenient for myself and my husband, so that he could help me bring our animal in. They are very helpful. When we made the appointment, and went in, their front desk staff was very pleasant, and took all our information, and copied our history. The doctor came out to get us from the waiting room, and chatted with us a little before he went back to the exam room, and I have never had that. He was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, courteous, and just like a normal human being. The cost wasn't cheap, but it was comparable for any good vet. We always look for something that is recommended by friends or is close to somewhere we live. They didn't hit me with a new patient, client fee. They didn't make me do everything again, she was able to make an assessment with our old records which were just 3 months old.

I've been using McLean Animal Hospital for my nearly five-year old pup for about two years now. They have great hours, it's easy to get an appointment, they are friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I ask lots of questions and the staff is happy to address my questions and help me take good care of my dog. They are costly in some ways -- but I think their pricing is very fair for the level of service that is offered -- and it's structured so they don't have to nickel and dime you for every aspect of treatment/follow-up. I highly recommend McLean Animal Hospital.

They were excellent. Their price matches others in the area but they are smaller so you feel that you are getting the attention. There is nothing that I would object to.

I had a great experience. The staff is great. She was a new kitty so she was scared but they were very gentle and wonderful and just great. They worked with the Arlington Shelter so we got discounted services because we got her from the shelter. I didn't have to wait to get in.
