Furniture - Sales
We were informed it would be delivered in a partial shipment (which was OK with us) on or around April 1. That was a joke. Then, we were told the following week. The furniture was finally delivered 4/28. And by the way, we had to pay the entire amount of the furniture long before the shipment date.
Then, If that misrepresentation was not enough...when the furniture arrived the pieces were too large for the size of our room. We purposefully gave their "design" team the dimensions fo the room, the layout of the window/door and fireplace. Depending on their expertise to properly place such furniture so that one could easily walk around the periphery of the room was not a good idea. We called immediately and were told that there would be a restocking fee of 50%. Then, the store manager got involved and said there were no returns no matter what. She spent a day asking us for pictures, floor plan, etc. The following day, she came back with a "sorry, no returns" answer. All we wanted to return was one piece so we could move in the room. Before we knew it, the regional maanger wrote with legal wording about the contract and "custom orders". Yes, we signed off on the order. No, we had no idea that the furniture would not fit in the room. Sell us more furniture without consideration of whether it would fit?
Besides, we offered several compromise solutions to no avail. Rude and insincere would be the best we could describe the process. "Have a nice day" was their sign off. Really? This is expensive furniture, not some cheap fly by night stuff, and this is how we were treated. They could easily resell one piece. Horrible customer service.

Furniture - Sales, Furniture - Custom Made
I went to the Arhaus furniture store in Rockville based on a friends recommendation. I was told that while they are expensive the quality and the service is unmatched. When I got there the saleslady was very nice in patient in helping me choose a couch that would be best for me. I've never bought an expensive piece of furniture before and she told me that they weren't having any kind of sale so I was reluctant to go ahead with it. I am not in any hurry to buy the couch and I figured there would be a sale for one of the upcoming holiday's.
A few weeks later was in Harbor East in Baltimore and dropped into the Arhaus furniture store with a friend to show him what I was looking at. The saleslady there was, again very nice, but told me that they were having a storewide sale of 30% off beginning on Thursday and I could take advantage of the savings. I had previously been given a written estimate for the couch with the colors I liked and instead of trying to pick out colors again I said great I'll come back and get the couch when I have my paperwork. When I went back on the weekend I was informed that the it was going to cost MORE than it would have been when I got my original quote. The salesman told me, and even argued with me that there was in fact a sale going on before and that what the other saleswoman was telling me was incorrect. I explained to him that i find it hard to believe that the saleslady that i originally met with lied to me and told me that there wasn't a sale on when I went in the first time. On the estimate page it had a price written and an area for "current promotions" in that area she hadn't written anything. At this point I had to walk out of the store so I wouldn't start shouting at the stupidity I was dealing with.
At this point I don't know who was lying but I know that someone was and I'm not going to buy from a company that can't be honest with their customers.

Furniture - Sales
The salesman failed to fax the order to the delivery company so the table was 2 weeks late being delivered. When they finally brought it, it looked like they just let it bounce around in the back of the truck because the sides were all scratched up. I watched them take it off the truck and drop it on the bumper, breaking off some pieces. Then they were surprised I rejected the delivery. The deliverymen came back a bit later and said they were told to leave it anyway (no doubt to claim we had accepted delivery). We tried to get our credit card credited from the saleswoman, but she gave the run-around. We tried for weeks just to get a manager to return our call but, despite receiving numerous promises that a manager would return our call promptly, we never received a single call from any manager. We finally just lodged a complaint with our credit card company.
