Green Vistas is fantastic! The quality of the work is beyond compare. The owner, Joe Saunders, has a BS in horticulture and a BLA in Landscape Architecture. He a great eye for shape and color. The two terraces directly behind our house were so overplanted that they looked like they had been abandoned for years. They were impossible to maintain. The overplanting extended to a drainage ditch behind the upper terrace which was so choked with material, that it no longer functioned. Green Vistas changed all that. Mr. Saunders consulted with us and designed an attractive, easy to maintain landscape plan which will allow each plant and shrub to shine. Over the course of several days he removed multiple over grown and way past their prime plants and shrubs to make room for new arrivals and to allow the remaining vegetation appropriate room. He pruned shrubs and trees to improve their shape and health. He paid special attention to our 10 year old crape myrtles which had never been pruned and needed it badly. He fully mulched both terraces. He also addressed erosion and drainage issues. He built a small sloping dry stack wall on the western edge of the upper terrace to halt erosion from rain running down the hill behind our house. He matched the stones used for the wall to other dry stack walls on the property so they look like they have always been there. He cleaned out the drainage ditch behind the upper terrace removing dead leaves and most of the plants that were calling the ditch home, but leaving a couple that will add interest to the area. He put down two layers of landscaping cloth and filled the ditch with river stones to create a dry river bed. He selected the stones specifically for their color to blend in and complement the terrace walls. It is beautiful when dry and breathtaking when wet. We are so pleased that we have already begun to talk about having more landscaping work done. We can hardly wait for warmer weather to enjoy our new and improved backyard. each spring we have our yard edged and mulched and by fall the mulch is thin or gone. This year we wanted a mulch that would hold up better with less decay. Green Vistas recommended a harder wood, either Cedar or Cypress. We chose Cypress as it was not as red in color as the cedar. The yard has never looked better. This is the eighth year in a row that the same person mulched our yard. The only difference is that previously he worked for a different company. But the work is the same-Excellent! Other projects from the past have included landscaping of plants (including selections that are "deer proof") and a dry creek bed to help with the management of rain water run off.
