After Joe Sexton and his crew of three men finished our roof, the first good rain proved disasterous to our living room. My wife called my cell phone in a panic and said that water was dripping from our ceiling fan onto the coffee table. I rushed home and she had several buckets in the middle of the floor. Water was pouring out of the fan opening into the buckets. There was water staining on the ceiling around the fireplace. I called Joe Sexton in a panic and he did come out the "next" day. He blamed it on a faulty vent that "he" replaced. Says that it was the manufacturer's fault. Of course, he did not volunteer to pay for the fan or repair any of the ceiling around the fireplace. A few weeks later, during another rain, we discover a heavy leak while going out to our patio. Several days later Joe Sexton shows up and says it was the same thing----a faulty vent. A couple months later, we have a leak in our kitchen. We had Joe Sexton put in a ridge vent over the roof of the kitchen and now it was leaking during high winds when it was raining. He sends one of his crew out to inspect and the guy agrees that the ridge vent needs replacing. We never heard from Joe Sexton again. A builder friend at our church recommended a good roofer in the area. This builder friend also said that Joe Sexton does the least he can to get buy. The roofer showed up and reported that the previous roofer (Joe Sexton) did not caulk around the fireplace or around any of the vent openings on the roof. He was here for about an hour and we paid him $100 for his services. Thankfully, we have had no more leaks around the fireplace. This roofer also said that he would have not cut the shingles a particular way over the bend in the roof around our patio. Just a month ago during a heavy snow, the seams at the ceiling of the patio was dripping water. As my wife and I counted the leaks, a conservative estimate was about 12 indoor (mostly indoor) and outdoor (outdoor patio) leaks----ALL due from the lousy work of Joe Sexton.
Description of Work: Since we had a home improvement loan and was going to put vinyl siding on our home, we wondered if it would be a good idea to replace the roof's shingles since they looked worn. At the time, the father of this person and I were friends and of course, he recommended his son to inspect our roof and give us an estimate if it needed replacing. When Joe Sexton arrived, he immediately reported that we needed a new roof. Since I was a friend of his father, I was told that I got a discount (some discount, later we were told that we could have had it done much cheaper and with better shingles). Our vinyl siding person----who had been in business for many years and with high quality work----requested the roofer not to extend the shingles a certain length over the ends of the home. I made this request to Joe Sexton and of course he ignored it. This made it harder for a vinyl siding person to properly install the siding.
