Cremation Society of Virginia-Southwest

We have filed a formal complaint with the Department of Health Services in the state of Virginia, and a formal complaint with the Department of Health Professions. We have also filed a  formal report with the Representative of  Virginia Cremation Society Licensing board, naming  Howard Finney.  His service was not only unethical but possibly criminal.  The service he provided was completely unsatisfactory.  Mr. Finney picked up the body of our daughter at the hospital and said he couldn't find a doctor to sign the death certificate. We received the ashes before receiving the death certificate.  My husband, the bereaved father had to go to the hospital, get the death certificate signed and take it to the health department.  We received a letter from the Department of  Health Professions saying they had taken disciplinary action.  However those actions are confidential. We hope this never happens to anyone else.  I would use the service of the crematorium again, but definitely not Howard Finney.
