BEWARE ~ Predatory and unjustifiably high charges.  This is a simple repair which I would normally do myself but did not because part failure was related to an insurance claim.
Part cost is $7.48 (Home Depot) and takes about 10 minutes labor. Going rate for this repair in NOVA (on the high side) is up to $150.
Parrish Services charged $382.00!!!  Cost for repair was not quoted prior to completion and Parrish Services refused to adjust fee upon receipt of my complaint.

Scheduling was easy and painless. However I didn't much appreciate the 6-hour time window from 8AM to 2PM. It seem like if I'm not the first person on the schedule, 8AM shouldn't be under consideration. But maybe they have to reschedule so many appointments that a wide window makes sense. The plumber showed up closer to 1PM, after a 15 minute courtesy call prior to arrival.
The work was done well (at least so far it seems) and quickly. It probably only took the plumber 10 minutes to do the work. It probably just as long for him to write up the invoice.
The invoice was disappointing. It described the work that was performed, but it didn't itemize anything. I understand the service charge was ~$110 (because I didn't want to subscribe to the service plan which would have saved me the service charge). I think the parts required cost about $20. So I got charged $300+ for 20 minutes of labor?
I can't say that I won't use Parrish plumbing again, but they're probably not going to be my first choice. And this little experience is probably going to color my decision when it comes time to renew my HVAC service contract.

The problem was there since January and I thought I HAD to replace whole unit rather than a repair.  three other companies had come out between January and May.  None had thought to look at a repair, because of the unit's age.
The serviceman arrived just before 7PM, as he said he would.  He went right to the unit, performed a few tests, and diagnosed the problem as a faulty capacitor (and a needed cleaning).  He had the part on his SUV, plugged it in, and it started right up, blowing hot air from the house so the cool air was blowing inside.  That took all of about 15 minutes.  He was knowledgeable, and polite.  He did not chastise me for the unclean unit; rather he just went about explaining how the cleaning would make this 14 year old unit be much more efficient for as long as it might last.   I asked for information on a new unit for the time I might be looking in that direction.  He went to a book in his SUV and produced a unit description, all inclusive and quoted the price. They have a different approach to customer service, to accommodate employees AND customers.  I was happily surprised by how easy this whole process had been.  Kind of wished I had called sooner, or at least have had it serviced every 6 months.  In any case, I am so very satisfied with the results.  Glad I called them up.  I will do so again, but, hopefully, not right away!

We have a yearly contract with them. They haven’t messed up yet. It’s easier to use somebody you know. If they haven’t done anything horrible, just stick with them. In this area, I don’t think it’s that easy to find somebody good. They are very good. On punctuality, it’s a little iffy. They give you a 6-hour window. If you work, you’d rather take the whole day off. If you work 45 minutes from home and the call and say that they’d be there in 15 minutes, that’s not going to work. They used to give you a 4-hour window, which meant you could usually work and taking half a day off. Now that they are up to 6-hours leeway of when they are coming, it’s very inconvenient.  If there is an emergency, they come out fairly quick. We’re packing up right now to move to North Carolina unless something happens between now and August; I won’t have any reason to call them. From the 6 years that I used them, I was satisfied with them. I never hesitated to call them.

Our heat went out sometime during the night.  We called Parrish promptly at 8:00 (their opening time).  The person who answered the phone said that everyone was in a meeting, but as soon as the meeting broke up (9:00ish), a technician would be sent over.
We received word at around 9:30 that a technician was on his way, and by 10:00, we had two technicians busily diagnosing our furnace. They fixed some loose wiring and cleaned the dirty flame sensor, and voila, by 11:00, we had heat!    They were polite, professional, and knowledgeable.  We appreciate the prompt and effective response!

Very professional and nice but felt it was overpriced for service provided and because it's such a large company and I have a demanding job, I had to schedule at least a week or two ahead of time. Didn't hate them but didn't love them either. I'd say they didn't work for me. I probably will go with someone else for the next electrical repair I need. As for plumbing, I already went with Crowley's and they're fantastic, very responsive, and was able to come the next day to address our plumbing issues on two occasions.

Got 4 quotes and opinions on different systems.  Parrish was middle of the road and willing to use some of the products I wanted incorporated into the system.  Little did I know they had no clue how to install them.  And even lied about what they installed.  To begin with, the salesman was nice but not always responsive.  Seemed to have too many personal problems.  Once we agreed on price and contract was signed, getting scheduled was a pain.  We set-up a payment plan by credit card.  I made note that the final payment was not to be charged until ALL work was complete and to my satisfaction.  I had that put into my contract.  They used a guy who worked for a small company they bought recently and he seemed nice enough.  Turned out he didn't really know how to do what he was doing.  They had to bring more knowledgeable people in from a couple of counties over to redo a lot of the work.  But some of the damage was done.  Without explaining to me the entire process would include cutting a large hole in the brick for exhaust next to a window of a room considered a bedroom, they proceeded to do so.  This created a situation where the room can no longer be considered a bedroom by county standards because of the possibility of exhaust seeping into the room.  Had they cut it 6 inches further to the right and added other pipe in the wall inside, they could've prevented this.  Brick ruined and unable to find the same brick (the house is over 50 years old), their solution was to place a four foot PVC pipe with a circumference of 12" down the side of my house.  The building inspector said that it was shoddy work, but also understood that I wanted them out of my house, and that the brick would never be correctly fixed.  He said he could "pass" the work as it was but he hated to have it done that way.  He said the room couldn't be used as a bedroom otherwise.  This process had taken 6 months, so far.  They still had to come over to reconnect the whole home humidifier and a couple of other small things.  I had also found that the outdoor portion of my new thermostat was not connected (this tells my thermostat the outdoor temperature and humidity allowing the thermostat to make auto adjustments to the indoor temperature and humidity).  I discovered this when questioning why the thermostat didn't seem to be showing me the outdoor info.  They assured me that the outdoor thermometer had been installed.  They even asked the tech.  It was NOT installed and they had to send over a guy to do that, but no one seemed to know how to work the thermostat.  And they wanted more money to change a couple of settings.  I read the users manual, the installers manual and called the Honeywell to let them know this company was installing their product without proper training.  I figured it all out on my own.  I told them we could finish the last few details when I got back from vacation in a couple of weeks, and we would settle the balance when the work was complete per the contract.  Of course, while I was gone they charged my card the balance which only angered me further.  We were exceptionally nice during this whole ordeal.  I believe in firm but friendly.  I stated my issues with them, sent the owner a couple of detailed emails during the process, and was assured there would be an acceptable solution.  I never received an acceptable solution.  Short of hiring an attorney, I would have to live with it.  I would never recommend this company.  I believe their honesty is in question and their work leaves much to be desired.  Buyer beware!
Response from Parrish Services Inc

"We did install a system in 2010, and we're very sorry to read you had such a negative experience. I do see our HVAC department manager made several visits for the project, and that is certainly not typical of our installations. The salesman is no longer with Parrish, but we certainly stand behind our work. I see we performed maintenance in 2011, but we would be happy to offer you a free air conditioning maintenance this spring to make sure your system is completely operational and ready for the summer. We've noted your service record, so all you need to do to take advantage of the offer is call. Again, we're sorry your experience with Parrish was anything less than 100% satisfactory."

Dealing with the CEO of Parrish Services was a complete disaster and speaks ill of the company, its lack of respect for customers and its poor, irresponsible leadership. The only time he was responsive, was in setting up a visit to our home so he could estimate what the work would include. At that time, he was friendly, seemed to know what he was doing. He had been recommended by a friend, so I was inclined to believed he would be a good fit for our needs.  When we met on October 9, 2014, I told him my hope was to get the gas installed and to have a gas fireplace in our home by Christmas so that our family could enjoy it.  He promised to get back to us with some estimates and a contract.  Silence.  We had to continuously send him e-mails to get a contract out of him - he claimed to be out of the country and that he did not have his notes with him. Ultimately, he provided a contract that was for approx. $1,000 more than he had verbally estimated (according to my notes taken when we met, and which he saw me take). The contract price allegedly included a tankless water heater, yet the poorly-written contract did not specify the item or its make, model and price. Nor did it even include our address!  Despite repeated requests to amend the contract with that information we never received anything more!  After almost a month I let our friend who had recommended Parrish Services know of my displeasure with Parrish Services. He contacted the CEO to alert him of our extreme displeasure. All this was almost ONE MONTH after the CEO visited my home and promised to provide estimates.  Almost immediately, I received an e-mail from the CEO, entitled "You have not been forgotten"  in which he promised that some named "Kim" would call the following day to get me on the schedule.  More silence. No call.  When I contacted the CEO to alert him that "Kim" had not called, he wrote back, "Sorry that I let you down, and I wish you the best of success with your project and a  more responsive and prompt contractor."  This was a $10,000 project!  Merry Christmas to you, Mr. Givens!
Postscript: I note with interest that Angie's List states that more "weight" is given when work is actually done.  I think this is ridiculous in the case where a contractor, like Parrish Services, treats potential customers so rudely and disrespectfully that the work cannot even get done!  Angie's List should rethink this caveat.

This review is not for one specific experience but for several that occurred between July and September of this year. This is also for plumbing only, we use Parrish for our heating and cooling as well, and so far have had a great experience in that dept. Fourth of July my husband decided to replace the insides of our powder room toilet hours before we had guests coming and discovered that the water line to the tank would not shut off all the way and water was running all over our wood floors. Called Parrish and they had someone who could come that day, but he was on another job and we were next in line. 4 hours later we get a call that he's still on the other job and they ask if we still needed him. Yes, we did, but my husband was able to finally put the old toilet parts back together so the water was just running through the toilet vs all over the floor. We cancelled and had them send the guy first thing in the morning, but we were still changed the full emergency call fee. I feel that since we waited for so long, we should have been cut some sort of break with that fee. A company that large should have more than one person available for emergencies, even on holidays. Next experience was fine, they came out to do a plumbing check as part of our service plan (which we paid for over the phone on the 4th so we could save some money on our emergency call fee). The guy showed up on time and was very professional, told us our water heater was on its last leg, which wasn't a surprise since it was 15 years old. We set up a time to replace it and they showed up on time to do that and did a good job. A couple weeks later we started to notice this thumping sound whenever we would turn on water or flush a toilet, and then about a minute later after the water had stopped running. I called Parrish to have someone come look at it not sure if it was tied to the new water heater or what. The first time I called was on a Monday and was told the earliest they could come out would be the following Monday because their techs were in meetings all week. I made the appointment for 1-6pm, and then the weekend before I got a call saying they could bump me up to the 8-2 slot. I was told I was the second call that day and the tech would more than likely arrive around 10am. By 12:30 no one had shown and I received a call that they were still on the first job and would be there by 2. I was upset and cancelled, but then called back shortly and got my place back, by that time they said he was still on the first job from early that morning and I was still next on the list. At 4:30 I get a call that he is just finishing up and should be leaving falls church soon. I live in a Ashburn and knew he would show up right while I was getting my son ready for bed, so I cancelled. Two weeks later I called again and they said they could send someone out from 1-6 that Friday. Around 5pm the guy shows up, listens to the thumping noise and says it's not right, but he doesn't know what's causing it. He calls someone tells them about it, that guys says he'll get back to him and never does. For about 45 minutes I watched the guy basically scratch his head, turn a few water valves on and off, and "think" about what could be causing it. He kept mentioning it might be the pressure regulator, but didn't want to charge us for that if it was something else. Finally I just agreed with him that turning the water off to the wash machine did the trick so he could go. It was obvious that it was 5pm on a Friday and he was ready to just go home. The noise continued, and I got ahold of another company. Within 20 minutes the new company confirmed it was the pressure regulator, had it replaced 20 minutes later, and charged me a VERY reasonable fee compared to things I've read online. I even got a discount for being an angies list member. Oh, and the best part, when I called this other company they were able to come out the next day, and showed up right on time. I still like Parrish for Heating and Cooling because our usual tech Scott is very knowledgable and does a great job, but they have lost our business for plumbing.

Washington Gas had a subcontractor replace the meters and lines in our neighborhood this weekend, which loosened up a gas pipe inside the house next to where they replaced piping.  The subcontractor said they could not fix the leak since it wasn't their pipe, but they turned off the gas. Parrish was the only provider I called who was able to come out today, and within an hour or so of when I called. The serviceman was very nice & helpful and he was able to reuse and reseal the leaking joint.
We have an annual service plan with them for both HVAC and plumbing. After calling several providers at the top of the search list who weren't available right away or hadn't called back (from Saturday) I decided to call Parrish and see if they did gas line repair. Next time I'll just call them first.
