Glass and Mirror Service
A different technician came to the house to repair the starburst, which was about the size of a dime. The repair required the application of two chemicals. When I first went out to check on the progress, I found that the chemical was running down the windshield and damming up against the wiper blade. The spray can was sitting on the hood of my car. I suggested that he should wrap the wiper with a paper towel and put a towel or rag on the hood rather than risking damage. When I went out the second time, he said that he was done. I handed him the check and then looked at the car - big mistake, I know! I looked at the windshield and would have been satisfied with the repair had l not found the 5" scratch on the windshield he had made with the tool he was using. He said "not to worry; it won't run". I said "That's not the point; I started with a small starbust and now have a five inch scratch to look through". He proceeded to attempt to repair the scratch with the second of the two chemicals he had used. This one was a thick substance in a tube. The nozzle popped off and the goop went all over the windshield and some of it got on the hood. He had to scrape it off the windshield with a razor blade and use his thumb nail to get the glob off of the hood.
While this was going on, I went into the house and called Mr. Cee's office number. The lady (who has been very nice to talk with but has been uable to affect the outcome of this situation) said that a scratch could not be repaired. I told her that her guy was outside attempting to do that very thing and that I (foolishly) had already given him the $65 check. I said that the only satisfactory solution was to give me a new windshield. She made an appointment and said they would replace the windshield. I replied, "O.K., keep the check since the end result is that the problem will be fixed".
No one showed up or called on the day of the appointment. I called and she said that the manager had planned to come out with the technician but that they had gotten busy due to the rain. She made another appointment. That was for the day of the recent snow. No one came and no one called - that was two days ago. No one called yesterday or today either. They have my $65; I have a scratched windshield and they haven't even bothered to call, let alone to come out and try to make this right.
My big mistake was not referring to Angie's List before starting down this road. The recommendations on Angie's have served me well for carpet cleaning, chimney cleaning, flooring, windows, etc. but in the case of this windshield, I took the recommendation of my auto dealer. Why they use this company is a mystery to me but I will definitely have feedback for the service manager the next time I take the car in for service.
