Not a great experience. Repairperson was here and took a look at the unit. Said the system needed replacement. It is 15 yrs old so that wasn't surprising. I asked for an estimate. He then replaced an expensive ($80) filter on a system that was not going to get repaired. I politely told him I did not authorize the filter replacement. He made a big deal of pulling it back out. The estimate that he gave me was A LOT higher than 2 other estimates. I am going with a company that is highly recommended by neighbors and Angie's List. I never leave negative reviews. If I am unhappy, I just leave it alone. By the way, this cost me $172!

The complete HVAC installation process went very well: (a) estimate-it started with M&M's President/Sales who was very responsive & provided detailed information needed, as well as offering options to consider in replacing my equipment; (b) actual installation-the crew arrived, ready to work, on time, laid drop cloth for the areas to be used during the installation; (c) cleanup-the crew cleaned up during and afterwards to ensure our home was in the same condition before installation. Prior to this service, M&M Mechanical installed a hot water heater & I was very pleased with them. I recommend "M & M Mechanical Inc" & would hire them again.

I first contacted a company that had added freon to my A/C in August of the previous year saying I would like someone to come out as soon as possible because my A/C had just died. That company told me last year that I would probably need to replace the units soon. After 3 hours and no callback, I called M&M. My experience with M&M from my first phone call to installation of a new furnace & A/C was exceptional. Less than 1 hr after I called J.D. and Mike G. arrived, checked out my system, repaired my A/C enough (replaced a failed capacitor) to get me to installation of the new units, and went over options for a new system. The $286.00 charge for the service call and the part were deducted from the price of the installation. The day of the installation David and Todd arrived and went right to work. It was a very hot day but cloudy which helped (not really). I had been given a time estimate of 7 hours to complete the job, the systems were installed and working a little over 5 hours after they arrived. They then spent time going over the system with me being sure I understood what was installed and explained operation of the digital thermometer. They had replaced the large duct attached to the unit and tightly secured and sealed ducts leading from the system. They pointed out that they had noticed a box of filters I had recently purchased so they installed a filter cabinet that fit the new filters. They recommended that every Spring 1/4-1/2 cup of bleach be poured down the white tube that empties into the drain, to be sure to turn off the unit at the switch attached to the unit before doing this. They then suggested opening and closing vents throughout the house and on the ducts leading from the unit to see what worked best, I live in a 3-story townhouse and the floors don't cool or heat evenly at times. The new system has a more powerful fan so this should help. They even registered the system for me with the manufacturer for warranty coverage so I didn't have to do that. They were very patient as I asked questions. At all times very professional and courteous. I had put a tray with snacks and ice water near where they were working. After they left I went down to get it and found they had taken it to the kitchen when they finished working. Everything was put back in its place, the entire area was left very clean. Overall an outstanding experience. They responded so quickly for both visits at a time when we were in the middle of a heat wave and I knew companies were probably overwhelmed with calls. I most definitely recommend M&M.

Excellent experience with this company! I was able to easily schedule a convenient time for them to come over. They also called with reminders a couple days before the appointment, and on the morning of. The technician "Felix" was prompt, friendly, and very professional. He wore covers on his shoes when inside of our house (I really appreciated that)! Our A/C unit is less than 10yrs old, and he didn't find any problems. He did point out some basic facts about the system--e.g., turn off the humidifier in the summer--to keep things functioning well. I was very pleased, and will definitely hire M&M Mechanical again.

I have nothing but praise for M & M Mechanical of Newington, VA. My wife and I purchased a new condo in Reston three years ago. It had a brand new, very expensive HVAC system installed just two years earlier. I was very impressed with the system – which was one of the key reasons I chose to buy the condo. At exactly 5 years and 2 months from the original purchase date, a major part failed in the outdoor unit. The replacement part was almost the price of a newer, lower grade system ($4,000). When Felix of M & M found the system’s problem, he informed me of the bad news. Original owners are given a ten year parts warranty from the manufacturer, but all subsequent owners are given a reduced five year warranty. I guess this is standard practice. Felix called in Larry and the two spent better than an hour with the manufacture technician in and effort solve the problem with the unit’s inverter. Since my warranty had only recently expired, Larry guided me through the process of making a special appeal to the manufacture for the pricy part. After spending hours sending documents, calling in follow up, and moving my way up to the case management department of the manufacture, and waiting over one month, my request was quickly rejected- “A contract is a contract,” the manufacture said. I called Larry with the news. Larry seemed as disappointed as I was that there was no remedy from the manufacturer. Not leaving the matter alone, Larry kindly made a number of calls to the manufacturer’s rep- who then made calls to his people at the national level. Two days later, my unit was fully operational with a new part coming directly from the manufacture. I cannot tell you how much work was done on my behalf by M & M– the professionalism as well as the customer service was more than exceptional. My experience has been that it is rare to find this kind of service in the Washington, DC area. As long as I live in this region, M & M will be my go to provider for any HVAC mechanical needs. These are very good mechanics and craftsmen. A+ well done! Our old furnace died around in November. We chose M&M because our neighbor complimented their recent install. Mike reviewed our broken 30+ year-old furnace and offered a reasonable price to fix it, but we knew its time had passed. He simplified the choices to three options. I trust his advice and price quotes. We considered the options for three days, called them up, and arranged a time to take closer measurements. Don, one of their senior people, (also courteous, respectful, and professional) accommodated our busy schedule, spent ten minutes measuring and taking notes, and we arranged an installation for the next day. A four person crew spent removed the furnace and installed the new one in one full day of work. They improvised well when they found some surprises. They were professional throughout, and their conversation and collaboration showed they were a focused and effective team. Additional work to support the project: Leveled the ground for the outdoor AC unit; added an outdoor shutoff switch to the AC; fashioned ducts; plumbed copper pipe into the humidifier; installed a condensation pump, tubes and PVC; installed an outlet to the intake duct for the humidifier and air cleaner.

Felix has gone above and beyond every time. He's not only knowledgeable and good at his job he listens to my concerns. Always friendly and smiling. Excellent customer service! Today, during fall service, he solved the ticking sound in a vent (annoying), which I've heard for two winters; other technicians unable to resolve. I highly recommend M&M, ask for Felix.

I have used M&M Mechanical since I bought my house in 2012. Come to find out, they had replaced equipment at my house from the previous owner. I am a very straightforward person and take people at their word. When I received my quote and the timeline for service, absolutely nothing changed. The price quoted was the price I paid, and installation happened exactly on schedule. I feel like I received the best deal possible comparing what my neighbors paid for similar services by other companies in the area. There was no upselling. There was no trying to convince me to buy things I didn't want or need. I wish more businesses operated like this!

Great. The quality of the work was excellent. The employees spent a lot of extra time putting down tarps from my front door all the way down into the basement and up to the utility closet. They were early and very courteous. I would definitely use this company again.

When our air conditioning system stopped working, they were able to come out and diagnose the problem the same day I called. Because our old system was 20 years old, we decided to replace the system rather than repair it. We were given two detailed estimates for different options. We called the next day to let them know which option we selected, the technician came out the measure the following day, and the new system was installed the day after. They were great through the whole process. We were very happy and would use them again.

First rate from start to finish. They contacted me beforehand to make sure we were on the same page about the appointment time, and they showed right on time. The tech quickly ID's the problem and fixed it, plus gave me a nice tip about running the unit that I was not aware of. I've called M&M for a few issues since we moved into our house almost 2 years ago. Each time they have been able to come out on the same day and provide great service. This time around our air handler had given out during a record heatwave. I was worried about enduring another few days in a 85+ degree house but they were able to schedule an install the next morning. Can't say enough good things about this group.
