"We have never scheduled you for June 4th. You probably wanted to have it done on June 4th. Go back to our email conversation and see for yourself. You bought a deal for 1 hour. We are doing a large project right now. We cannot cancel our current job and go somewhere for 1 hour."
"We have not done any work for you and you must not grade our company! We do not provide emergency services. You have to contact companies who work 24/7. We work based on the schedule. You have to wait until the people who contacted us ahead of you are served. You cannot expect to call and get service the same day and especially after hours. We are not an emergency service. Good luck!"
The work was meticulous! The door now operates effortlessly. The rotten wood was replaced, caulked, and painted to match the exterior. The weather stripping was replaced. The job required two full days to complete, so I believe the price was more than fair. The workmanship and quality of the job was excellent. Andrey is a perfectionist!
I would not hesitate to use this company again.
Well.......Local Handyman Services has been great!
(1) They were prompt in following up as soon as I purchased the Big Deal. They asked good questions about what I wanted to have done and were able to schedule the work when it was most convenient for me.
(2) The handyman they sent (Andrey) was FABULOUS! He was on time, knew exactly what I wanted done, asked me to walk thru the locations/type of work, was laser-focused on getting the work done, displayed a professional attitude, had the right tools, and had the technical skills to do what I needed.
And what was most incredible is that HE COMPLETED EVERYTHING ON MY "TO DO" LIST! This included hanging 32 pictures (I told you I've needed things done for years!!)............I never imagined he would have been able to complete all this work; in fact, I had prioritized the pictures in the order of importance in case he ran out of time, but he did them ALL!
I am so pleased with the work Andrey did that I'm already making up my next list of handyman tasks. And you better believe I'll be requesting Andrey from Local Handyman Services again!
- I was told I'd get a response within two business days of buying the Angie's List deal. I did not hear from the provider for over a week, and I had to reach out again to schedule the appointment.
- This may sound odd, but the handyman smelled. Had a terrible body odor that remained in my condo long after he left. It's not something I would normally comment on, but my home smelled of body odor after he left, and that was a problem!
"Our handyman performed a lot of physical work. That is different from sitting at the office and doing nothing. Don’t you smell after gym?"
Service was professional; clean and very well completed. I would use again.

There was also a small breakdown toward the end with regard to additional charges to haul away the trash and the old toilets. I had previously inquired if that was possible and how much it would be to do so in our Angie's List communication chain. Nothing was agreed upon prior to performing the service and it was only at the very end that I was told it would cost an additional $50 to haul away the trash.
Now, $50 is entirely reasonable and I had no problem paying it. What I didn't care for was that the vendor did not discuss or negotiate this up front and that I had to do it over the phone with a woman who actually did speak English and was translating with the actual handyman.
With old toilets and boxes strewn across my front lawn, they could have told me that it was $250, and I would have essentially been stuck paying it.
Suggestions:
1. The folks actually coming out to perform the service should speak English well enough to communicate.
2. Any additional costs or charges should be negotiated up front in writing prior to any services being performed.
3. You might consider including haul-away services when applicable and simply price for it in the cost of the Deal and in the money that you pay to the service provider. In other words, you could have added $75 to the cost of the deal, advertised it as "includes haul-away," paid the provider his $50 and realized an additional $25 in total gross profit. I still would have bought the deal and would have had a better overall experience.
Just a thought.

My wife should be home. The statements above have been taken from our email communication. You told us it was ok to come half an hour earlier. Our representative just came to give you an estimate. You gave us a “D” rating. Based on what? Our handyman was very professional. When he walked into your house, he removed his shoes and looked at the work that needed to be done. We are a small company and we do not own any special vans and uniforms. We have a great deal of experience and we stand behind our work and guaranty quality. If you are looking for people in uniforms with marked vehicles, you have to contact a very big company. All our customers are extremely happy with our work and keep returning to us. No one ever has asked our handyman to wear a uniform. 99% of people on angieslist are highly intelligent and professional. I guess just 1% is not from that category."
We are extremely pleased with the overall service and the results. Local Handyman Services immediately contacted us and promptly responded to all our questions (and there were many). They were able to obtain the crown molding that we preferred and installed the molding on the very next weekend. They were very professional and took the extra time and effort to cover our furniture and to not damage anything in a relatively constrained space. They even took their shoes off (without us asking)! This was the very first time that we used Angie's List and this particular contractor. Based on our experience, we will certainly use Angie's List and Local Handyman Services in the future and recommend them both to our neighbors.
I hired Local Handyman Services to remodel two bathrooms, a kitchen, and to install hardwood floors in my house. They were very clean, minimum dust, prompt and finished in a timely manner. They prepared a contract which had specific dates and a time frame for completion. They finished two days before the deadline. I loved my remodeled kitchen and the rest of the work that they did. I always get complements on my kitchen, on my floors, and on my bathrooms. I always recommend this company to my friends.
