Removed all coping blocks and tiles around top of pool. Acid washed and replastered pool. Installed new tile around top and reinstalled coping blocks. Refilled with 5 tanker trucks of water. |Did a highly professional job. Pool looks great. All pool supplies companies in the area that I use to get my supplies recognize JW as top quality outfit. I agree.

Jim Walsh and his crew were extremely professional and thorough in all aspects of the job. The entire process took a week. I anticipated a bit of a mess but each day the pool area and the yard were clear of any debris. Jim was very helpful in guiding us through our choices and did not try to steer us toward the more expensive choices. WE have additional work to be done in the near future and will strongly consider using JW Contracting again.

Had 3 quotes for the job, and although JW  wasn't the lowest, Jim seemed to be the most knowledgeable and experienced. In 4 days his crew removed and reset all the stone coping, removed the old band tile and replaced with new, acid washed the old plaster, applied a bonding coat to the old plaster, replastered the entire pool and had the pool refilled. Workmanship A+, very pleased with the experience. Jim clearly cares about quality and if you're not happy he will make it right. His crew also installed a Loop Loc cover and spent over 5 hours making sure it was a perfect fit. I have a large stone raised back beam with several radius curves that the cover mates to and the JW crew worked until the cover fit with absolutely no gaps.

I was very worried because we were losing about 2" of water a day! I called JW contracting and Jim contacted me later that same day and came out to see the pool the very next day. He answered all of my questions and was very patient and honest. When it came to scheduling he worked around my schedule. His crew arrived on time on the hottest day of the summer (heat index of 110!) They worked dilligently all day in spite of the heat and not only repaired the broken pipe but puttied areas that could potentially leak. Jim called me throughout the day to keep me abreast of their progress. They left a clean worksite and I was very happy with the work they had done.

When I was ready to proceed with the work, I contacted Jim and the work was scheduled within couple of days. His crew showed up in the morning, as he said they would. They removed all of the damaged bricks very carefully, and not a single tile underneath the coping broke. One person was holding a net, and almost no debris fell in the pool. After clearing the damaged coping, they started cutting the new bricks and it was absolutely amazing to watch the precision with which they measured and cut. Not a single coping brick was wasted and the cuts were perfect. After the work was completed at the end of the day, it was a perfect fit and it would be nearly impossible to tell where the repair job was done. The Caretaker was replaced with a new one, they cut the PVC piping very carefully and well under the ground level, so the new pipes and connections work and look a lot better than before. They cleaned everything after themselves, the caulking around the coping was done perfectly.
In all honesty, I never rave about contractors, I am a hardcore DIY and I can get really picky about the small details that most people won't notice, but these guys did such an amazing job, without rushing through, taking pride in everything they did, that nothing I can write will do them justice. It is almost unseen these days for contractors to invest so much time and effort to do the job right.

I spoke to an engineer named Jim and he was very professional. His permanent staff were Hispanic with whom I could not speak. It was a very huge and complex project; they included pressure testing which some of the other companies did not. They did the work correctly and on time and did a nice job replastering my pool. Their prices were competitive. They are not road warriors; if anyone wants a permanent company that has the same people every year they are a good choice.

Excellent job.  We were very pleased with the work and have recommended JW to other pool owners.
Jim responded quickly to our request for an estimate and the work was scheduled promptly.  Workers showed up on time and were courteous, and very hardworking.  Job was completed in about three days.
We will definitely use JW again for any future pool work.

We feel that we received an outstanding piece of work from JW and their team.  We were anxious to get the job done before the beginning of the season and the crew actually began work a week earlier than initially projected.   In addition, the job was done quickly. A large crew came for the initial demolition.  Overall, the job took several days fewer than the initial projection of two weeks.  This was important to us because the disruption to our yard was an inconvenience for us.
The crew and skilled workers JW employs are very professional.  These are full time employees--not day laborers picked up on corners.  My understanding is that they are treated very well by the company, so there is longevity and continuity.  The skilled stone work is first rate.  They are pool professionals so they understand exactly what needs to be done.  It is not the same as simply putting in a walkway or driveway.  Clean-up was excellent, totally professional.
Jim Walsh is very responsive.  At the end of the job we had an issue with the appearance of a couple of the flagstones.  This was addressed and repaired immediately.
I would definitely recommend JW Contracting and would use them again in a flash.  The only caveats are about the price and the contract provisions.   It is possible that we overpaid for the job but I am not sure.  On the other hand, we are very satisfied and were not looking for a bargain.  We wanted quality work.  With respect to the contract terms, they are very specific.  Make absolutely certain that everything you want done is included specifically in the terms in advance.  The contract terms concerning the scope of work will be strictly adhered to.  Thus, for example, in the demolition work, the anchors for our winter pool cover were destroyed and discarded along with the concrete.  As there was no specific provision for replacement of these in the contract, the replacement work will have to be done later by us at our additional expense.   My fault for not anticipating this but something to be aware of.
In sum, JW does quality work, in a timely fashion and lives up to the promises they make.  You can't ask for more.

Jim and his team completed the job in no time flat! He estimated a week for our contract but only took about 2 and half days. They came in and very focus on the work, emptied the pool and demo it. Apparently the pool was well built so they had to bring in the heavy equipment! That did the job. Throughout the process, there were a lot of derbies, dirt, and gravel being moved from the front street to the backyard where the pool is. Jim's team clean up at the end of the day every day of all the dirt and gravel loose on the driveway and street which both us and our neighbors really appreciate. Overall I'm happy with the great work he and his team did for us. Thank you for giving us back our backyard :)

The project had the most trouble with the weather, we had a very cold and rainy winter and the job started in November. Otherwise, it all went well. Maybe for future work ( I also did extensive remodeling on the inside and outside of the house) I would look into getting a portable toilet for outside.

Very well. I got 3 estimates and quickly found the prices about the same. Only JW contracting actually bid and performed the work themselves with their own fairfax employees. This was a really BIG job that people with old pools (20 years+) Need to consider. They did a very good job!

We were very pleased with Jim's work. He came out within days of my contacting him and gave a detailed estimate within two days. His estimate was $2,000 under another company. Once I signed the contact he scheduled the work within days. He always advised me when the crew would be working and what they would do. He made suggesting on adding to the job that were helpful and added to the value of the project. His crews were professional and cleaned up at the end of each day. I could contact him by email or cell phone. There were no surprises and the pool looks brand new. We are very satisfied.

THEY DO A GOOD JOB, THE PRICE WAS FAIR, AND THE OWNER WAS VERY RESPONSIVE. THEY EXPLAINED WHAT THEY WERE DOING AS THEY DID IT, AND CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES.
