Helder Electrical Contractors Inc

My wife and I have considered remodeling our kitchen for the past few years now. We have had multiple estimates from many reputable businesses in the Northern Virginia area but none have ever been affordable until now. I can honestly say we have not had the best of luck with contractors in the past so I was extremely cautious going into this project. Especially, knowing that most contractors require half of the money up front before they will even begin a project. There is nothing more unsettling than handing over a check to a complete stranger, knowing that it will most likely be cashed that same day before any demolition has even been started. The first time I met Helder, he arrived on time, actually he was a few minutes early. He introduced himself and asked us what we were looking to do with our kitchen. We explained that we were looking to upgrade our existing kitchen with new cabinets, a new countertop, and backsplash. We already knew the color we wanted for the cabinets but were unsure about the colors for the countertop and backsplash. When we asked Helder for suggestions, he provided us with a few names of tile and countertop places so we could get an idea as to what was out there. He then explained that once we had picked out what we wanted he would send us an estimate by e-mail within 2-3 business days. The first day demolition started I was extremely nervous. Again, in the past, contractors have started projects and then never returned to finish the job and by that time the check has already been cashed and the contractor is gone. Helder and his crew showed up at the time he said they would and came prepared to work. Before they started ripping anything out they made sure they put tarps down to protect my floors. This was the first time I had experienced a contractor who actually cared about not ruining anything in our house so I was quite taken back by it. Helder is very personable and makes you feel completely at ease every step of the way. His crew was very polite and friendly as well. Once demolition started, Helder noticed some electrical issues in the kitchen and felt he should at least mention them to us so if we wanted to fix them while they had the kitchen apart we could. When I asked him about the cost he said he would add it on to the original estimate and have a new one written up to include the extras. We ended up adding two new electrical lines in the kitchen and moved the plumbing over a few inches to allow for a bigger sink and more cabinet space. We also had them install a vent for the microwave. All extras were discussed and re-written into the contract as we went along. All of the prices quoted were very reasonable compared to what was quoted by other contractors for the same service and the quality of work was excellent. Even the glass tile backsplash that was done by Raul looks amazing. Overall, this was the best experience we have had with a contractor in the past 12 years living in this house. There are a few more projects to be done around the house and I will definitely be using Helder Electrical Contractors to complete them.

Helder was professional.  The price for the job was what I expected to pay.  He was prompt and the job was done well.

I was referred by a friend  but I also found him on craigslist. I called him and he immediately picked up the phone. He sounded very professional, and also he knew what I was talking about. I love that he asked me a lot of questions in regards to the project because that also helped him give me a better estimate. I also liked that he is able to work around my hectic schedule to come over and take a look at the place. He came over and wrote everything down and also the material. He gave me the official proposal immediately. I liked it and then we agreed to start. He came on the day we had scheduled and he also came prepared. He is very respectful. Anything that I asked he wouldn't hesitate to answer and also he would tell me why he was doing things. For example he would tell me Ms. I am now getting ready to go to the attic due to the ceiling fan installation so I understood. Well I asked him what other things he did and he said painting, drywall , and more. So we started to talk about other things that I wanted to get done. I will submite a report on that work on another time. Overall he did great. He left my home clean and serviced an excellent job.
