"We are sorry to hear you are dissatisfied with your job. Our records indicate that you signed as fully satisfied. We would like to clarify the steps taken to pave your driveway. We arrived on site, marked out the new area with you using marking paint. You agreed and signed off that the new area was to your 100% satisfaction. We then removed one layer of asphalt and began removing a second layer to find that there was undesirable base. The corrective action was to remove the top layer only and install 21-A stone over the bottom layer of asphalt. Since we removed the entire top layer of asphalt, the driveway was below grade. This gave us the option to lay gravel over the bottom layer for a solid base. The driveway turned out beautiful and will last a very long time. You said the edge of the driveway is too high off the ground. That is because the ground slopes down on the side you had us widen. The wider you take the left edge the greater the difference in height between the top surface of the driveway and the grass beside the edge. If you look at your entrance it is not higher where it meets the road or anywhere else, it is only higher where it is widened into the sloped side yard. In order for us to address your concerns we met with you three different times and exchanged many emails as well. During our meeting we tried to show you photographs of the process so that you would understand what was done and you would not even look at them. We offered you a resolution agreement to go above and beyond the original contract and backfill the driveway with dirt. You did not want to backfill with dirt but insisted we use gravel instead. We agreed to your request and again asked that you sign off on it, which you did. As you stated in your email, our work is beautiful, and you have had quite a few comments on it already and the driveway looks great. "Thank you for your feedback. This project was completed about two years ago, and we have no record of you calling to share your concerns. We are a family owned business and our customer service is outstanding and we do wish to clarify some things. All asphalt is recyclable and is always hauled away from every job site for no additional charge. If there was non-asphalt debris(like dirt dug out from a new area), we offer to truck that away for our customers as an option. Some customers prefer to keep and use that soil for projects on their property instead of paying us to truck it away and dump it. We call our customers one business day prior to the start of their project to confirm everything is good-to-go, and we always ask customers about dirt disposal so that we can dispatch our trucks correctly. Regarding sealing, no one has to seal coat with us to maintain their warranty, and we do encourage customers who are happy with our services to contact us for their maintenance. The prevalence of low quality sealers is why we cannot warranty a driveway once it has been touched by a third party. Some companies use low quality sealers which can chip and crack, and these low quality sealers can make repairs very difficult or impossible to touch up. We're happy that the quality of your new asphalt driveway was not among the complaints you have.
