Excellent job and outstanding customer service.  Even though it was a small job, we were treated professionally and courteously, and the job was done ahead of schedule and with the best workmanship I've seen from any contractors we've worked with.  The work area was left extraordinarily neat and clean.  Their estimate was right on, and they even finished the work ahead of schedule. They paid particular attention to detail and did a superb job.  This was actually the 2nd job they've done for us because we called them back after they did insurance work on our primary home.  We were impressed then, and we were impressed again by this job.  We will most definitely call them back for future work.  It was a privilege and absolute delight doing business with them.

They were superb.  They did a great job.  It was so thorough.  They were so polite.  It was a job done very well.  They cleaned up after themselves.  It was just terrific.  So now, I have a wonderful new deck roof that is transparent and let the lights in which is so bright and so lovely.  I?m sorry we had to this at all but when we did I was happy that we finally found the company that was willing to take on this job.  I would highly recommend Charles R. Wood.  They do larger projects as well.  They just were great.  

My insurance company paid for part of it but not all of it.  I think we paid $500 more out of our pocket.  I would tell others to please inquire about Charles R. Wood first and don?t bother with other people.  They were just great.  They were very professional and very easy to work with.  They had to apply this surcharge because it was a small project and we could not get out of the state farm and they were just absolutely few to help us with that.  So we ended up doing that roof deck.  They were also very accommodating about paying arrangements.  We split it out between two credit cards and a line of credits and we had no problems with that.  I was very pleased.  They were great people to deal with.   

I give them a ?B? on price because we could not get around the surcharge thing.  

The employees were all professional, easy to work with, responsive to our needs, and willing to address concerns. All sub-contractors were hard-working and got their tasks done properly. When unforeseen problems arose, they worked out fair adjustments to the final cost.

They were excellent. I am sixty-two years old and I have had numerous services in the past but they stood out the most to me, in terms of their integrity, quality, service, honesty, and professionalism. That was the third major remodeling we have had in the twenty-seven years that we have been in the house and I would give Charles R Wood Builders Inc a special recommendation for the work they did. They are outstanding. That is the best company we have ever dealt with in the home remodeling industry in twenty-seven years of home ownership. They have outstanding customer relations. I really can't say enough about them. In home remodeling, one first gets a sales presentation and the work crew turns out to be completely different from the sales people. Many times there would be language problems which is how the construction industry is in our country because most of the workers are not native Americans, so if there are any problems during the construction, you are not going to able to convey that to the people actually doing the work. However, with Charles R Wood Builders Inc, that is not the case, they have people who have been in the trade for generations and have passed down craftsmanship to generations. The other thing about them was their invoices came in on time and so we always knew what we were spending and what everything cost. The wonderful thing they did, that never happened to me before with the other three other remodeling companies, is that they gave me a refund. They actually gave me a refund, which has never happened before! I have also had horror experiences with construction companies before, so with Charles R Wood Builders Inc, I can say that there are certain things that the homeowners will get that they are not going to get anywhere else, like if there is a discrepancy or if they get overpaid, you will get a refund. The level of craftsmanship is such that when our house was rebuilt, people from the industry have come into my home and have asked, who did the drywall, because it was so straight, or have commented, whoever built the house did excellent job. You will not find a company like them very often; they truly stand by their mission to provide quality home to average people. When the pipe broke, the plumber had torn up everything in our basement and I knew I could depend on Charles R Wood Builders Inc once again. They sent out somebody right away, they did the drywall, and it looks as though nothing ever happened there. A couple of gentleman came, they worked for two days and got everything done and the cleanup was spotless, which is just the way they do things. They really know what they are doing. If I have any construction concerns or if I need work done in my house, I would only call them; in fact, I have them on my speed dial!

They did 1 kitchen and 3 bathrooms and there were some problems with quality but some of the quality was good. They also had problems with schedule. They were referred to me by a friend so I used this company.

They are great to work with and they do an outstanding job. They take pride in their work. Just call them! You will be glad that you did and happy with their work.3

Excellent work! They arrived promptly each day, were very professional, and their work was superior. In addition, they provided us with an estimate for additional work, and answered ALL of our questions. We were so very pleased with the quality of work and their professionalism and would HIGHLY recommend them. We plan to request their services for future remodeling work. They are great. They are honest and reliable. They come exactly when they say they are going to come. I sense that they are really good people, and they do good work.

Upon opening the wall, we found wet cinder blocks and the beginning of some mold. They treated to kill the mold, applied a waterproofing coating on the exposed area, replaced the drywall, patched and painted everything so it looks like it was never touched.
Unfortunately, this was only a temporary fix from the inside, as it did not pinpoint the point of entry for the water. Kevin had initially suggested that a French Drain might need to be added. This is the next step we took. The guys had to dig over 8 feet down on 2 sides of the house to expose the footing. They knew my concerns about 2 trees near the house and were very careful not to disturb them. The bushes that had to be removed temporarily were put with their roots in the piles of removed dirt, to protect them from the overnight freezing temperatures. The French Drain project was a much bigger than I had envisioned but worth it in the end. We found a significant crack in the coating on the foundation. They patched it, repaired it, and covered both sides of the exposed foundation with a product that repels water and yet lets the foundation breathe. Brian and Daryl did this efficiently, effectively and kept me politely informed the entire time. The interior work took 2 days. the Exterior took 5 days in total. At the end they re-seeded the lawn areas that were disturbed during the construction, covering the seed with a layer of straw to protect it while getting established.
The pricing and timing were exactly as proposed by Kevin. We have had heavy rain twice since these repairs were made and not a drop has seeped inside. The guys were on time every day and the project was completed on schedule. We were very pleased overall.

From start to finish Charles R. Wood Builders provided exceptional work. Extremely responsive to owner's questions and minor changes in plans. Maintained a clean work site and workmanship and professionalism beyond reproach. Will definitely use again and highly recommend this company.

The proposal phase was thorough and professional. The design incorporated all of our requirements and also included several important items we had not considered.

Communication throughout the project was frequent, timely, and accurate. This enabled any issues to be promptly resolved and schedules to be maintained. We appreciated always being able to reach the individuals working on our project.

Bob Oberlin, designer, customized plans with us six months prior to start. He was always on time, organized and prepared to discuss and review plans. Bob was very accommodating with our many revisions. Mike Hammond was the project manager who was always on-site. The crew was on-time and there each and every time as promised. Richard Christianson was an amazing prep and painter. Each details of our home were care for as if it was their own. My family and I came to know them as dear friends. With twins at age 2 at the time I felt comforted to know what wonderful men we had in our home.

This company stands head and shoulders above all the other contractors we have dealt with in 30 years of homeownership. We've had three other major projects (another whole house remodel, finishing a basement, and remodeling our master bathroom) as well as several smaller projects. Almost a year after our Charles R. Wood rebuild, we smile as we look around and see a solidly built structure that is energy-efficient and has a custom-made look and feel. The company did a masterful job of restoring our home. The experience was very rewarding. We have even gotten unsolicited compliments about the quality of workmanship from visitors who formerly worked in the building trades. Since we now have a brand new home, we don't have any future projects to consider, but, if we do, the only number we'll be dialing is Charles R. Wood, Inc. Four things stand out about the company: its work ethic; its pride in craftsmanship; its creativity and flexibility; and last, but not least, its integrity. Without fail, the crew worked a full day from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., taking only a short lunch break. All of the crewmembers have years of experience--some are second- and third-generation tradesmen. We were very impressed by how polite the crew was, how quietly and diligently they worked, and how tidy they left the work site at the end of the day. If we wanted to make a change to our original plans, our top-notch project manager was on hand to offer creative, affordable options. All our telephone calls and e-mails were answered promptly and thoroughly by Charles R. Wood employees. Every effort was made to give us the best quality rebuild within our budget. Not only was the quality of the work superb, and completed ahead of schedule, but also the financial aspect of our job was highly ethical. We were charged what we believe to be a fair price. Clear, easy-to-understand invoices kept us abreast of exactly what we owed. In our case, because we had a special arrangement with a flooring contractor, Charles R. Wood gave us something almost unheard of in the building/remodeling businessand mdash;a refund. Also, the company is very responsive if you need to call them for follow-up work. Of note, the main reason why we've had to call them back was because of some post-construction damage done by our teenage son. Charles R. Wood, the company's founder, built quality homes and churches in the Manassas area. His son-in-law, Mike Holloway, now admirably runs the business and is carrying on the legacy of building and remodeling homes that the company itself would be proud to occupy. We may sound like a commercial, but this review is the plain, unvarnished truth. We're not in the habit of writing such glowing critiques. We found this company through the routine process of vetting contractors. They simply offered the best service and value. Over the years we've experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly in home renovation. (One contractor still owes us $4,000.) If we can spare anyone the mistakes we made over the last three decades in choosing the right contractor, then this review will have accomplished its purpose. In hiring this company, you'll have no regrets, just satisfaction, for years to come.

I'd recommend them...they were good. Their price was fair, I got several estimates. The quality of their work was very good.

The first supervisor (Owen) was driving the crew way too fast and making them do an extremely sloppy job of painting. I had to call them back in time after time when we found large strips of the wall that were either painted so thinly that the previous paint showed through and not painted at all on the edges.

Jaime did a decent job of painting--when Owen wasn't rushing him so fast that he could barely get paint up on the walls.

The carpenter was fabulous. He did a terrific job.

During the time that the crew was here, two very expensive items disappeared and were never seen again:
-our digital camera containing months of pictures
-the crystal vase my husband gave me as a wedding present

Since there were two other contractor crews on the premises at the time, I don't know who took those things.

I would never, never, never, never, never use them for painting again.

I would recommend them for carpentry service only.

They are very good. I had also used their services in the last year. They did an excellent job. Their workmen were very good. The quality of the work was excellent. The workers in both cases started early and finished late. They worked hard to get the job done and to get it done right. I paid $3000 for the last job and about $5000 for the first time. They were terrific. I would use their services again and they would be the first ones I would call in order to get a bid.

Service was excellent, professional and timely. Estimate very accurate, but cost N/A because this was an insurance repair. Work crew was very courteous and communicative re plans and progress, helpful, and they left our home impeccably clean. Painting perfect. I would definitely hire this firm again.

This is the BEST experience with a contractor I have EVER had! The contract managare/estimator listend to eveyrthign I had to say, allt he time, was patient, kind, tactful, creative and did an excellent job for me. He gave me his cell phoen number, email address both at the office and at home so I coudl contct him at any time. His work cres were thoughtful and professional. All the work men were punctual, spoke well, did not swear, did not rush thorugh their work and seldom made mistakes, they were patient with questions, and are MOST trustworthy. The work crew clean up after their work every day and do not leave a mess ever. Their dry wall, painting, and carpentry work was the best I have seen - and my brother is a master carpenter and electrician. The on-site work crew was outstanding. The next in line work crew supervisor was in regular contact with me and came on-site many times during the month the project took place. The overall contracts supervisor contacted me a numebr of times to make sure all was going well. The contract manager/estimator, well he was the man who kept it all together and the one who came up with the kitchen renovation plan, and that did not cost extra. I would not hesitate to leave the workmen in my home unattended. They were kind to me and to my two German Shepherd dogs, and that is hard to find! I will NEVER look for another contractor again, all my work can and will be arranged through CRW. As a side note, CRW employs most of the work crews permanently, they have been working with the company for years. None of the work men or work crews are day laborers and are professionals at what they do. CRW can do small and very large projects from minor repairs to house additions, they can do it all.
