"Dog owners need to understand that they can have a sweet lovable dog, but it may not like or be fearful of the grooming process or part of it (nails cutting, the vibration of clippers on their body, water on their head are examples). A dog's mood can change if factors in their life change, some temporarty some not (examples: a death in the family, their own health, stress, the dog aging and having more aches and pains, being in the kennel,....). It is my policy that if I beleve I can not groom a dog without causing harm or making the dog is so afraid that it fears the grooming process I will not force a dog threw the grooming process and charge the owner according to what I was able to accomplish. I also give a referral to a nother grooming facility if I feel they could possible handle the dog better that I. I also only do small dogs or dogs that will not stress or cause injury to my back, per my doctor's orders to avoid further injury. Unfortunatley this is a commom problem for many groomers due to lifting heavy dogs over time, and I've had to let go of many good dogs. I do not feel social media is a place to discuss details and private information of [Member Name Removed] dogs withour her consent. If she would like to disuss the issues she mentioned she is free to call me."

Our puppy had an unfortunate grooming experience that left her terrified of groomers, so were, needless to say, thrilled to find Paula at Barks and Baths. I fully believe that she will be the solution to curing our puppy's fear of groomers.
She let us bring our puppy to her salon and took the time to come outside and interact with our puppy until she was ready to enter the building. Then Paula sat down and spent time just petting and talking to our puppy, and us. Paula explained things we could do at home to help decrease the terror factor for our little girl. After a while we put puppy onto the grooming table and slipped the groomers noose onto her. Paula proceeded to pet, talk gently and brush her a little. Puppy was nervous but nowhere near as terrified as she was the last groomers I took her to. Paula eventually just turned on the clippers with no blade on, just to help puppy get used to the noise and gradually brought it closer and ran it once or twice along puppy's back. That was all that was done today, to keep puppy from being too distressed.
Paula is happy to let us come multiple times and build up non-stressful experiences until puppy is ready for an actual cut. When the time comes for the cut, Paula has told us that she will cut what she can and if she cannot finish without distressing puppy too much, then we can do it over the course of several visits until we can finish. The cost will be broken down based on how much is actually completed, and there was no charge for her time today, even though it was probably about 30 minutes of her day. I count this as service provided because a service was provided. This visit was a phobia treatment therapy session for our puppy, that went very well. When we came our little girl was so scared she was shaking with her tail between her legs, and she left wagging and asking Paula for pets, despite the fact that clippers and a grooming table were involved.
I fully intend to use Barks And Baths for our puppy's future grooming needs. Paula is a gentle soul who truly loves dogs and it shows in her care of them.

She is wonderful. The dogs love her. If I tell them they are going to get a bath they want to go get in the car. I take all 4 of the dogs the same day. She works really hard to get them a cut that works well for the breed. She has her own facility in her house. She's got all the right equipment, the table and adjustable tables and bath tubs. I think her pricing is competitive, I've checked with the vets. She is very flexible and tries very hard to be accommodating. She is very attentive and responsive and if she notices anything when she is bathing the dogs she will let us know.
