We wanted to use a local company instead of one of the big box shed dealers. Our backyard is hard to access - lots of raised beds - but they handled that easily. Mike was friendly and helpful. Always available to answer questions. Ours was a small job - 8 x 8 shed - but he gave us his full attention as far as I could tell. The work was completed as scheduled and the work crew was professional and friendly.

Outstanding. We have had two yard sheds built by Mike and his team at two different houses and I would definitely use them again. Mike agreed to a slight roof adjustment on both sheds so we complied with Fairfax County placement requirements and then he stood by his product. When we recently discovered a problem, several years after building our latest shed, Mike sent his team to inspect what happened and then sent them to fix the problem which was caused by the failures of a former employee (and not by a defective product). Ed and a coworker did the repairs and spent half a day fixing the problem. They told us what happened, apologized for the error, and made sure we were completely satisfied before leaving. Great customer service and a terrific product. I DEFINITELY recommend Backyard Sheds to other buyers.

Description of Work
Demolished an old shed and built a new 8 feet x 10 foot A frame shed. Mike was very helpful in explaining our options and suggesting the shed style and colors that would enhance our yard. Ed and his crew did an outstanding job demolishing our old shed and building the new one. Ed and his crew are skilled craftsmen. They arrived on time, were courteous and made certain the shed placement and installation was to our satisfaction. I would highly recommend Backyard Shed and Deck.

In November 2013 I ordered a quote for a shed in Backyard?s catalog. At that time I was told that estimator would have to visit the proposed site to give me a quote. I met with the estimator and was told that it will take several days to put the quote together. Now, 3 months later, after multiple emails I still can?t get a definitive answer from them. They just keep telling me that they don?t have a status on my quote and that they don?t know what happened to it? It so strange that they just don?t seem to care about me as a customer?

Frankly I am absolutely puzzled… That’s the first company in my life that doesn’t seem to care about a customer that is ready to make the purchase… I found myself in a situation where I have to continually follow up with them asking for updates on a quote for shed that I ordered… Is not it supposed to work other way around?

Initally there was a delay due to weather and work crew availability. Angela kept us informed and accomodated our time crunch. Once scheduled, the crew was on time and did a great job. No leaks, no problems we are very satisfied.

Overall very good. Prompt response to a request for estimate. Good discussion on site of options. Slightly complicated by slope for build. More expensive than sheds pre built and delivered as its built on site. If you have a yard that cannot accommodate a delivery of a fully built shed, this is a very good alternative. Weather delay caused it to run a little longer than estimate but the quality of construction is very good. They knew all the local codes for setbacks and provided recommendations for placement in the yard.

I'm very pleased with the entire experience. The owner came to my house on a saturday to give an estimate. I got a couple other quotes and his price was competitive. The crew arrived at my home on time and completed the installation as described. I'm very pleased with the quality of the shed. It's very well built. The cost was a bit more than the pre-fab'd sheds at home depot, but it was worthwhile to have a crew customize the construction and leveling in my back yard.

Installed good quality shed in timeframe provided. Workers were great, nice quality shed, looks very nice. Many neighbors have commented and were interested. Shed is raised on blocks 4 inches to keep it dry which is fine. Need lattice around bottom of shed to finish the appearance and keep critters, leaves out. Unfortunately price given for small amount of plastic lattice was way too expensive (1/4 of the price of the shed). which was very dissapointing.

The guys that came were very professional and on time. They took pictures and measurements and then sat down with us to explain every option we were interested in. They told us that our 3d designs would be emailed to us in a couple of weeks. We did receive the designed. I even asked for some things to he changed in the drawingr and they were changed and returned back to us in about 24 hours. We didn't go with this companyany or any other due to price of the estimate.

The owner, the one who provided an estimate, was professional and considerate. We ended up going with another company because their price was 15% lower than Backyard Shed & Deck Co. However, the quality we got with the lower priced company left much to be desired. I would re-consider using Backyard Shed & Deck Co. if I were to do the whole thing over again.

'Sandy' brought down a very large hickory in the back yard, knocking my very large shed off the foundation. Steve and his crew came in looked at, gave a price, and had the job done within a few days of my ok. Basically they had to lift the shed and move onto its pillar foundation plus add an extra 10 inches to the foundation height. Other companies came by, other companies left - too hard, too expensive, not possible, take it apart and rebuild and so on. Not Steve. Done. great!

We went to the Manassas show room and looked at the sheds on display, and picked out a 10 x 16 shed. We were able to see the colors in person and picked out what we wanted. We scheduled a tentative date for installation at that time. They were very flexible when we needed to delay delivery while we had a gravel pad and a small retaining wall built. The workers showed up on time, built it in less than 5 hours and took care to touch up any scuffs. They were very pleasant and did a very careful job..

We had a 10 x 16 shed built. It was built to spec in PA by Amish workers, shipped down and built by Backyard Shed and Deck on site on a gravel pad. We just had to provide a relatively level, cleared space. They recommended gravel underneath. We were able to pick the shed style, siding color, roof color, window and door placement and size. Quite a few options were also availble. We added gable vents (it comes with a roof vent) and a ramp.

Contacted Backyard Shed & Deck for a complete removal and rebuild of a shed destroyed by a previous storm in the summer. I could not have asked for better quality and service. Mike came out and gave the estimate and set the date which seemed far out but once he explained I was more than happy to book the date as I knew exactly what I was getting. Dealing with the office was such a pleasure and the all the staff are very nice and courteous. The job is completed and we are very satisfied with the work and the workers I would definitely recommend this company for any job.

Called Backyard Shed & Deck Co and Mike came over promptly to talk with us about the options available. We picked our new 10x 16 New England A Frame and he provided the estimate and set the dates for work to begin that day. The work consisted of Removal of 10x12 Barn Shed that hung over a hill and the rebuild of our new shed. Total time was 2 days and the job was started 1 day early and completed before expected date so very please with this service.

Backyard Shed & Deck Co. delivered the 16' X 8' shed I ordered and promptly started to work on the foundation. The next day the flooring support, flooring, and sides were installed. The following day the roof support, roof decking and shingles were started. The next day the siding and door were installed. Mike and his crew were very professional and did a great job.

Actually, I found them to be unprofessional. I had a shed that got damaged in the storm over the summer, and I just need the roof replaced. I could tell that they really did not want to do it. They came out, and the guy gave me a verbal quote for a very good price. I said yes; that it sounded good, and we had to go forward. He told me that they will send me the paper work through e-mail from the office. When I got the quote out of the office, it was a thousand dollars more than what he told me. I told them that it was not what Jeremy told me verbally, and they said that he was not qualified to give quotes on site. I said well he did. I told them that it was crazy and ridiculous. So, I did not use them.

Angela answered when I called the previous week indicated I would be called by the end of the day. No one called. I followed up the following week and explained I needed to move a shed by Thursday since I was having a garage built. Someone showed up within 2 hours to take a look. I explained to the gentleman that I wanted to know an answer either way, so I could plan accordingly in such a short amount of time. 4 hours later, I again followed up, and Angela told me the gentleman told her it wasn't possible to move it. Why this wasn't communicated to me at the site, or by someone sooner from their office, was very frustrating.

It went very well. Was not real happy about the waiting time between order and delivery/install. But it was done and we are very satisfied with the job. We would hire this company again for another shed if we needed it.
Description of Work
After picking out style of shed, colors, options and shed site, we did have to wait a few months for the shed to be installed. On day of install, company cleared area and constructed the shed as contracted. They were very efficient and courteous. Job not completed that day because skirting material to go around outer edge of shed floor and the ground was not available then. A few weeks later, after we called to inquire about it, they brought the material out and finished the job.

The owner of the company came out before and after to check on the work. The work was done very quickly. The shed was built in an hour and a half. It was good that he came out afterwards just to check and see if it was done right.

We chose a pricey option, hence the lower grade in that category. My other cavil is that, on the first day of a two-day project, they showed up several hours late. The crew was professional, friendly, and helpful when they did arrive, and they did a very good job of removing the old structure and assembling the new one. I would recommend them again.

It appears as if this company has good construction standards, but in the end we didn't go with them to build our shed. Their quote came almost a week after we requested it and the price was several hundred dollars more than the company we ended up using. The only difference in the specs between the quotes was that this company also included windows. Also, we would have had to wait almost 5 weeks to have the shed built. Had the quote come a little sooner I may have considered it more closely but by then I had already been dealing with a few other companies with more competitive quotes. I'll still keep them in mind for possible future jobs, however.

In the interest of trying to identify and solve a potential problem, I respectfully ask for more details on this issue. It is not clear from the comments whether the estimate was provided in person (on site), via e-mail, phone or fax. I personally handle all of the "on-site" estimates but I don't have a record of ever visiting this address. When I visit a potential customers house to give an estimate, 99.9% of the time they have the written estimate in hand when I depart since I work off of a published price list. The only time they may not have a written estimate in hand when I leave is if there is something extraordinary (i.e., a special order for a particular brand of siding or shingle) that I may not have exact pricing readily available. Was that the issue in this situation? Or was this an estimate request via e-mail that took a week for a response? Was there a week delay in setting up an appointment for an on-site estimate? Any additional info that helps pinpoint the essence of the complaint will be greatly appreciated! It's now May 2010 and the shed is in perfect condition, the back side of the shed had all the vinyl siding blow away I simply called the company up and they replaced it all for free. that's old school good service. I would highly recommend this company i've noticed several sheds around the community i live in (hamlets at red cedar in leesburg off evergreen mills road) where several folks have had sheds built by other companies probably in the last year or so and they're falling apart, or the foundation caved in inbetween... my shed on the other hand is in perfect condition and can tell will for years to come. After installing the concerte foundation and joists a few days later 2 young men probably in their very early 20's or late teens came out in probably 100 degree weather and built this thing all by themselves from scratch probably from a pre cut kit within about 4 or 5-7 hours, i seroiusly thought they weren't going to make it the whole day.

Installed a 10' x 18' Gable Style Shed with Vinyl siding that matched my house and Shingles that also matched my house, white shutters, had 6 supports posts installed in concrete on 2"x6" spaced 12" OC support beams for a foundation.
