We had used Atlas previously for an expensive septic repair, and the only obvious problem that we encountered at that time was that they had one truck that leaked massive amounts (about a quart) of black oil on our driveway on two different days, which took me a long time to clean up. I must note that it is possible that the septic repair could have been done better by a different company. We are not experts on septic repairs. After asking about their truck situation and being assured that they no longer use the truck that chronically leaked large amounts of oil, I set an appointment for 9:00 to 11:00 today to have our septic tank pumped, as routine maintenance. This appointment was set up about two weeks ago.
I stayed home for the appointment today, to observe the process, and see if they needed the pump shut off, or had any questions or advice. When it got to be about 10:25 I called Atlas just to make sure that they were on track to arrive within the 9:00 to 11:00 window. The man who answered my call placed me on hold briefly and then can back on the line to say, "We was just getting ready to call you. They're on an emergency job all night and they're not going to be able to come today." Obviously, they knew that they were not going to be able to come today long before I called them at 10:25. They could have called me at 8:00 this morning to tell me that they couldn't make it and we could have rescheduled. I wasted hours of my time holding up my end of the bargain to keep the appointment, and they didn't have their act together well enough to pick up the phone and call me when they knew they were not going to keep their appointment. Given that I had to call them to learn that they were going to be a no show, I told the man that they are fired. Customers normally have too much going on to waste their time waiting for people who are never going to show up.
