The repairs to my fence and gate were done on time, budget and to specs. The work is excellent. The workmen even replaced a warped board that wasn't in the contract.

Contacted Arlington Fence and Deck and they responded quickly. They were able to give me a general estimate for repair of several sections of a 6-foot privacy fence and a gate based on photos I sent. We set up a date for Mike to come out and do a detailed estimate. The detailed estimate was actually a bit lower than the first estimate. I also had cast iron railings that had rusted posts that needed repair and they gave an appropriate estimate for that as well. There were two different dates to do the two repairs and they came and did a great job on both. I'd definitely use them again.

I do not recommend hiring this company. I paid Arlington Fence $7,185 to install a front fence, rear fence and trash enclosure at my home. The fencing has held up fine however the Trash enclosure doors have had consistent issues with opening and closing since installation and the company has come out twice within the warranty period to make the necessary adjustments due to settling. I have requested that the company come out again to repair the doors because they have continued to settle and are difficult to open and frequently get stuck. I am still within my warranty period and the company has refused to complete the repair due to a dispute over another service they provided in a separate unrelated matter.

"[Member Name Removed] asked that I serve as a professional witness in a case that she was arguing against a contractor in the Fairfax County courts. She did not provide me with all of the facts, which were ultimately brought out ion the proceedings. She used a Legal Zoom type attorney to represent her in the case and lost. She not only did not pay me the agreed amount of compensation for my professional services, she also wrote the bad review. We did in fact repair the warped gate that she references in her review, but never updated the review, even after we requested that she do her due diligence."

Gate fell apart in less than a year, and company failed to respond to request to warranty and repair.
Response from Arlington Fence and Deck Company
"The consumer's review is inaccurate. Upon our initial evaluation, we advised the homeowner to replace the entire rotted wood fence and gates. The homeowner chose to only replace the gates and several wood pickets. He was unhappy with the overall results because his expectations could not be met. We did our best to manage those expectations, but well short. Furthermore, we were never contacted by the homeowner regarding the said gate."

Went well, but they did have to reschedule because the bender that supplies the materials sent wrong materials.

Everybody I ever hired fails to perform as they should. The construction industry labor pool has been rotted since the 80s. Pride in workmanship doesn't exist.
Response from Arlington Fence and Deck Company
"Customer has failed to address any actual concern with our workmanship. He at least never contacted our office."

Very well! Work was performed in the time promised and within budget. Workmen were neat and careful. When we encountered a situation neither side had foreseen, the workmen (and their HQ bosses) worked with us toward a solution that pleased us.

This fence product was unfamiliar to the contractor. He worked with us and Certainteed for a couple of months to ensure a proper installation. My husband had researched fences and found this manufacturer to be the very best on the market. Michael was very patient about getting information from both my husband and Certainteed. The crew who installed the fence were very nice and professional. We have other construction going on also. There is a lot of mud. I would recommend not installing a fence after a rain when there is mud everywhere!
Response from Arlington Fence and Deck Company
"After providing the home owner with 7 revised estimates for the product that he wanted, we were able to install the fence after much delay due to rain. We are very grateful to have had this opportunity to install this fence. CertainTeed-Bufftech brand is by far the best vinyl product we have ever worked with. Unfortunately, the best product does come at a higher price. Michael Stefanon - President"

Owner responded promptly to my request for an estimate. Arrangements were quickly made for an installation date with a back up date a few days later which was a very good idea in winter because the original date was snowed out. The old fence was removed and new fence installed easily in one day.

Thought they did great job - from start to finish. Reasonable price & quality work. Staff were personable, friendly, & professional. Our installation had some complications and they worked with us to get everything done. Mason came out a couple times to double check things and make sure things would work out ok. The installers themselves were helpful and flexible about things. We got board on board with untreated red cedar - looks great.

Quote was easy and very competative. Discusions with owner (Michael) were professional and even saved me some money by discussing options for future vehicle access to the back yard. Once I decided to get the job done we were scheduled and done in less than 4 days. Fence looks very good.

Arlington Fence provided a very competitive bid for a cedar privacy fence along one side of our yard. They were prompt in coming to the home and providing a quote. We received three quotes and had the greatest confidence in their work. They installed the fence in one day and cleaned up well behind them. The fence still looks great!

Arlington Fence did an excellent job with our fence. Their price was competitive, they were responsive, began and completed when promised (with a delay caused by snow!), did a professional job and the fence looks great. I would definitely use them again.

After first estimate for the fence, we realized that we would have a problem with an obstruction in the way...Michael returned and modified the order without any issue. New fencing looks fantastic.

Mason came to my house to take measurements and provided me with a brochure to show me what my fence would look like, and answered all of my questions. He was great, but once I had a date set for installation things quickly went downhill. On Nov 11, the day before installation, a pallet of cement was left in my front yard despite the fact that the checklist I signed clearly stated that I wanted the materials delivered to my DRIVEWAY. So why even bother asking what I want? When I informed Michael of the situation, he didn't seem to think it was a big deal and told me that grass is dormant this time of year. That's not the point. The point is that I asked for the materials to be left in a specific area and they completely ignored my request. Even prior to the cement being left in the wrong place, I had asked Judy in an email on Nov 7, what time the installers would arrive at my house on Nov 12. She said they would be arrive between 8:30 and 9:00. They showed up at 8:00. Again, Michael didn't think this was a big deal, but as a homeowner, it's a big deal to me when someone shows up a half hour early. What if I hadn't been finished getting dressed that early? Maybe then Michael would think it was a bigger deal. Soon after installation began, there was a problem with a piece of fence that was apparently too long to fit where it was supposed to fit. The installer said he could cut off a small piece to fit and I agreed. I also told him that I wanted the extra piece to go around the outside of a tree in the back of my yard rather than running the fence inside. Since I had already paid for the materials, it seemed like a reasonable solution, but the installers did not do that. When I asked Michael about it, he said he would "look into it", but never said where the rest of my prepaid fence went. The installers were only able to complete about half of the fence the first day. Since it gets dark so early I expected them to be gone by 5:00 or 5:30 and I had somewhere to be that night anyway. I kept waiting for them to tell me they were leaving and when they would be back the next day. They never did. At 6:00 their truck was still parked in front of my house. I didn't know if they were still there or not or if they left in a different vehicle, but I finally just had to leave. Since they arrived at 8:00 on the first day, I assumed they would arrive about the same time, the second day. Nope. They were at my house by 7:30. It would have been nice to know they planned to arrive that early, but the homeowner is always the last to know. For some reason, they thought it would be a good idea to leave the remaining pieces of fence laying in my yard over night. I would have preferred to lock them up in my garage over night, but wasn't given that option. When I told Michael about this and my concerns of potential theft, his only response was that fortunately the grass is dormant this time of year. Yeah, good thing. Later during the second day of installation, Michael mentioned that more fencing might be required "due to a slight variation to the layout". I didn't change the layout. Maybe they didn't order enough material. Maybe some was stolen from backyard the night before. If they needed more fencing, why not use the piece that was cut the day before and not used as I requested? Apparently they didn't actually need more fencing because I never heard any more about it. In the email I received from Michael on Nov 13, he stated that the balance of my payment was not due until we were "both satisfied with the completed work". Despite the fact that I still didn't know where my piece of cut fence was, I went ahead and mailed a check on Nov 14 for the balance due. On Nov 19, Judy called me AT WORK inquiring about payment. I let her know that I was at work and I was busy and I didn't appreciate being called at work and that I had already mailed payment. They had probably received it by then if they had just bothered to check their mailbox. She said they had called several times and that she had also sent me an email. No one had ever called my cell phone and the 3 calls they had made before was on my work number. I hadn't got the calls because I hadn't been at work. Someone named Nathan called my work phone number on Nov 12, which was completely ridiculous since I was obviously at home all that day with their installers. The email from Judy on Nov 19, was really rude. She said that the checklist I signed stated that I would provide final payment to the installers when the job was complete. The checklist Judy was referring to also stated that my materials would be delivered to my driveway, not my grass. They didn't do what they were supposed to, why should I? I mailed the check the next day anyway. It's very disappointing that this process was so unnecessarily difficult. I was hoping to be able to use them again when I replace my deck, but there are lots of companies who build decks.

Both jobs involved some custom work and Arlington Fence, overall, did very competent work. A representative from the Florida aluminum railing manufacturer measured the front steps and the railing was installed in a very professional manner by Arlington. It was apparently the first time Arlington had worked with cable railing and there were some delays, often due to the material supplier, but the completed installation was quite good.
There was some confusion over a charge of $500.00 but Arlington Fence refunded the amount when questioned.

Worked with Michael who was very responsive in working through fencing options, performed the work as scheduled, and delivered as expected. Got lots of compliments so far... Thanks!
