A&J Tree Services

This was the most horrible experience I’ve ever had in my 22 years of home ownership. It all started on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon when my family came home from Target. When we first arrived home I noticed my neighbor (a lovely woman) was having her tree(s) trimmed and removed from her back yard. Then my eyes immediately fell to our mailbox post which was snapped in two and laying on the ground with our mailbox. We saw two of the employees of A&J Tree Works/Services in the front yard and expected them to apologize and come talk to us; however, they did not. After 20 minutes of waiting for someone to come over and talk to us my husband went outside to make arrangements for them to fix our mailbox in which they broke. To my surprise, my husband secured their services to remove our leaves + debris on the side of the house for $200 and fix our mailbox on Monday. TAZ with A&J Tree Works/Services left us his business card after all the work was done and said to call if we had any questions at 540-840-6079. This is when everything went bad. When I called to ask when he would be back to fix our mailbox because it is wobbling a lot, he said he wasn’t. Furthermore, I informed him that our mailbox had a tall post not the short one they put in and it didn’t wobble before. Additionally my husband had to purchase a new mailbox for TAZ with A&J Tree Works/Services to use because our old one was dented so badly. TAZ repeatedly said he was not coming back to fix our mailbox, that we got what we paid for and that out of the seven other neighbors yards he worked on not one had a complaint. I would have said I have no complaint what so ever about the leaf and debris removal (this job was excellent) but he hung the phone up on me and disconnected the call. It was the fact that his company came onto my property and broke my mailbox and they refuse to repair what they destroyed. I take issue with this.

They didn't fullfill their contract. After they had taken down the tree, they didn't come back to clean up. I had to call them repeatedly. They also didn't come back and finish the landscaping portion of the contract. I hope other people don't get into this situation with them.

Did answer the phone the first time I called.
Did come over to my house on time as agreed to give me a quote for the job.
Did call in advance to request a delay due to rain making the tree-climbing more dangerous.
Did call immediately after the rain storm to arrange a new day/time to perform the work.
Did show up on the correct day/correct time.
Did complete work as agreed upon.
Did charge the agreed upon price.
Did haul away all refuse.

They were absolutely fabulous. They were quick to schedule and the estimate was free. They made sure that my husband checked the work after he came home before they accepted payment. They hustled and worked really hard; they didn't stand around. Their price was ridiculously less than anyone else. It was a kid, his dad and a couple of other guys. We were really happy and would use them in the future.
