"Dear [Member Name Removed]: Thank you for your review. We appreciate you taking the time to leave one on Angie's List and including pictures. I am so glad to hear that you are pleased with the work we did on your floors. While we are unable to guarantee color matches, I am glad that you are satisfied with the color that we achieved. Sincerely, Erik Sivertsen"

- It went absolutely perfect. Eric (owner) & his team were great every step of the way. We recently bought a new house, and decided about a week before closing to have all the hardwood floors (basically almost entire 1st floor) & stairs either re-coated or refinished prior to us moving in. They were very prompt in returning our call & coming out the next day for an estimate. Eric explained everything & was very patient with our questions, and offered solutions/alternatives that we either had not considered or were less expensive. He also demonstrated why some floors could simply be re-coated, while others had to be refinished. Additionally, they adapted to our crazy schedule & timeline with ease enabling us to gain use of parts of the house in order to have our things moved conveniently (and less costly). Even after changing our mind 2 days before completion to add in additional shoe (base) moldings, they came through. They had to replace some boards that had been damaged & put in some new transitions between rooms, and its amazing how well they match and are integrated. The guys who
- Floors look absolutely great! Couldn't be happier.

Overall, we are very pleased with the work performed by this contractor. We met twice to get an estimate of the work and then to choose finishes. Contractor was courteous, knowledgeable and skilled. The custom floor grates are very attractive and enhance the appearance of the floor. The sanding was nearly dust free as advertised. Cleanup at the completion of the work was minimal. New floors look great and are maintaining their luster. Good contractor!
Our newly purchased 1960s ranch home had it's original wood floors still in place, although horribly yellowed from the old oil top sealant. There was water damaged in two bedrooms and areas throughout the home needing patching due to us removing some existing walls. They did a terrific job patching in. We had some pieces of original flooring to use in the patching, but it wasn't enough, so Erik had to supplement some areas with new. After the sanding was completed you couldn't find where the patches were- it was so seamless!
After all the patching and sanding, we went with an Ebony stain (our floors are Red Oak) and the end result was EXACTLY how I wanted- like a dark walnut color. We decided to upgrade our top coat to the commercial Bona sealant system, since we have 2 dogs and 2 kids- we wanted to protect the new gorgeous floors as much as possible.
A big issue Erik had to address for us was the floor transitions from the existing hardwood to our newly installed tile flooring (which we had done ourselves). I was very particular with Erik about not wanting the standard lip-over transitions (I've had horrible experiences with them cracking/breaking in the past), especially at our kitchen/great room transition. Erik and his dad came up with customized solutions to appease my high demands. And I can honestly say I am thrilled with the results. They were able to achieve transitions flush with the top of the tile and the end result looks super high end and custom- they look like custom scribed and installed woodwork!
Overall we were simply thrilled with all the work Generations Hardwood Flooring did for us. I kept repeating over and over to Erik that the floors looked brand new! I am beyond-words happy with the end result. For people how want the job done right, want a contractor who will tell them the truth, not just what they think you want to hear- then Generations Hardwood Flooring is the company you should hire. I've never written a review before- but Erik and his team deserve this glowing praise over and over again!
Oh- and the only reason I gave the price category a "B" was because the total cost was higher than I had budgeted. That being said- Their services we WELL worth the price. You definitely get what you pay for, and in this case- I got floors that look sparkling brand new!
From start to finish, this was about the most stress-free home improvement project we've ever experienced. When we called Generations for an estimate, Erik not only listened to us as we explained what we were thinking about doing, he asked all the right questions and even made some cost-saving suggestions. We got two other estimates, both of which were in the same ballpark cost-wise, but we chose Generations because of Erik's professional attitude and his knowledge of the products we were interested in using. All of the workers who came into the house were respectful and professional. The new floors look fantastic. We feel like we've moved into a new house. When the time comes for us to refinish the older, existing wood floors in our house, we'll definitely call on Generations to do the work.
We were contacted after this review was made public & apparently the breakdown in communication between us & Generation's occurred due to the assistant/receptionist/scheduler being away due to a family emergency.
The work was completed, everyone was very punctual & professional & the floors are gorgeous. They are so impressive that our realtor told us he wanted names & numbers, as he was going to use Generation's for his customer's to have a reputable & proven source to refinish their floors for future listings. And our realtor is not easily impressed, so this is a huge accomplishment & we are tickled. People that come to the house, knowing the previous shape of the floors, are almost mesmerized by the change.
"Dear Mr. [member name removed]: Thank you for your review of March 13, 2014. I am confused about why there is a completed date of September 1, 2013, when a contract was not written until March 28, 2014 with a start date of March 31, 2014. To clarify the situation, Generations Hardwood Flooring, LLC (“Generations”) offered a “Big Deal Offer” (the Coupon) to Angie’s List customers on December 31, 2012 – January 5, 2013. The Coupon allowed purchasers to have up to 400 sq.ft. (or two rooms up to 200 sq.ft. each) of hardwood floors sanded, refinished with two coats of water-based finish and using a dust containment system for $499.00. This coupon allowed purchasers from Angie’s List to save $500.00 off the regular price of this service. This was a limited time offer and the conditions attached to the Coupon was listed on Angie’s List so purchasers would be informed of the conditions prior to purchasing the Coupon from Angie’s List. In addition, one of the conditions stated “Promotional value of coupon expires 3 months from date of purchase, paid value never expires.” On January 5, 2013, estimate 255 was written based on a site visit with [member name removed] and the estimate was e-mail to [member name removed]. This estimate outline what was included under the coupon purchased from Angie’s List and what additional work was requested. On January 12, 2013, a contract was prepared based on items 1-9 of the estimate, with a starting date of March 4, 2013. Sometime after the estimate was sent, I explained that pets would have to remain out of the area from the start date until at least two days after the last coat of finish was applied. I also mentioned that people would have to wear socks for at least 48 hours after the last coat of finish was applied. Ms. [member name removed] then contacted me by phone and asked if this work could be done at a later date and the contract re-written. I agreed to have her re-schedule to a later date in either March or April 2013. On April 26, 2013, another contract was written with a start date of May 20, 2013, ending on May 23, 2013, and emailed to [member name removed]. After several attempts to reach Ms. [member name removed]and leaving messages, I received no further response from them. From April 26, 2013 until March 28, 2014, I have received no emails from either [member name removed] or [member name removed]. Sometime in March 2014, I did receive phone calls demanding Generations honor the Coupon that you had purchased. While the Coupon did state that the “promotional value of coupon expires 3 months from the date of purchase, paid value never expires”, I agreed to honor the promotional value of the Coupon. After agreeing to honor the promotional value of the Coupon, I found that you had written this review on Angie’s List. On March 28, 2014, estimate 573 was created, using the same information from estimate 255. Although the promotional period of the coupon had expired around March 31, 2013, we still allowed you to have the Coupon value for the work in this estimate. On March 28, 2014 a contract was created with a start date of March 31, 2014 with work being completed on April 4, 2014. I regret that you feel that you were misled by the terms of the coupon, which were clearly stated in the promotion on Angie’s List, and that you were unhappy with our service (although we did not begin any work until March 31, 2014). Sincerely, Erik"
