AMERIGAS

Description of Work: Establish new residential propane service.

Description of Work: I moved into my home on October 1st of 2008. It is now December of 2008. I have made numerous calls to Amerigas to come hook up my propane. On the very first call, I was told I needed to pay a rental fee of $200 per month. I thought that was too steep so I told them to get their tank off my land. (The previous owner already had their tank there) A few weeks went by and I called the company to see when they would be removing it from my property. I was told that if I wanted to use another company, just tell them to move the tank and leave it there. I was not happy with that response and told them I wanted the tank gone. A week went by and I heard nothing from Amerigas. I called again. This time I inquired again about the price of the tank. Since they do not sell the actual tanks, that was not an option. BUT now the lady told me that if I used at least 32 gallons a year then there would be no rental fee and the full tank would cost $300 for the propane. That sounded okay. They informed me I needed fill out a lease agreement and they would need to run a credit check. It doesn't really make sense that they need to run a credit check since I would have to pay in full for the propane anyway. I said "okay" and asked them to mail or fax me the forms. They informed me they couldn't do that. I would need to come to their office (which is over 1 hour away) and sign them in person. I told them to get the tank the heck off my land and that I wasn't fooling with them. I am STILL waiting for them to send someone down to get their tank and it only makes me wonder how long it would have taken them to come unlock the tank so I could have used my gas logs. Beware, if you are in Bedford you had better go with a REAL local company. Not one that is over 1 hour away!
