The professionals at Melvin T. Morgan helped us get a new perspective on our gutter layout. They did quality work, were on time and saved our foundation! Thank you for everything y'all have done for us!

Negligent in quoting an estimate.  Called about 6 weeks later after job had already been completed by Pennick Roofing in Madison Heights, VA

I was astounded how quickly they were able to finish to job.  They even checked for used nails, which I appreciated for my dogs.

During installation, they left the project on a rainy, windy Friday afternoon, laying black paper across unprotected areas. As a result, our unit and other experienced large water spots on our ceilings. When we complained, the applied two coats of KILZ. It still looked terrible. Months later, they applied a coat of ceiling "mud." Still terrible. They were very unresponsive, unprofessional, and unethical in their response to damage which they created. Finally, after more than 5 months, one of their employees came and smacked a coat of paint over the area. It looks better, but still not fixed. There is no way that I would ever do business with this firm again.

They were excellent, but they were the most expensive of the estimates that I had received. The rep was very responsive to me and professional.

I have nothing good to say about this company so I will not say anything at all.
It was a nightmare from start to finish and thank goodness I had my contractors on the job to watch these so called "professionals"
We are remodeling our home and have had various degrees of contractors in and out. Melvin T Morgan has been the only firm that has made my journey a bad one.

The roofing crew was great. They arrived at 630 am and started soon thereafter. The old roof was removed before 11 am and they were completely done at 5pm. They cleaned up after the work was done and you couldn't even tell they had been there. The crew that installed the gutter guards were on time and the work was completed in a few hours. After looking at the work, I was not satisfied and called the local office. They sent someone out to examine my concerns and promptly sent a crew to fix the problem.

I started using them because I heard about them from others. They are an excellent company. They did a great job, and cleaned up after themselves well. They were very responsible and worked quickly.

Very bad experience; an ordeal from start to finish. Poor supervision, and foreman was not aware of issues using a screened side porch roof as a staging area, roofs with overhangs, and a lightning rod system. The first day they overloaded and severely weakened a side porch roof. Luckily I was the first one to notice the underside rafters coming apart. Unloading meant throwing bundles from a full pallet of new shingles 15 feet down onto the ground. They offered to repair, but I did not feel they had the expertise. Estimated damage was over $10,000. Following the advise of a structural engineer, roof repair was expertly done by Piedmont Facilities Management, Charlottesville, VA. Where the roof overhangs and extends past the side of the house, nails that were too long came through the roof, and exposed nail shanks were visible. They first wanted to remove them, but that meant peeling up brand new shingles. I declined, and agreed to have the ends cut flush with the wooden underside. On the detached office they shingled over a vent opening, and I had to request that the original vent be put back in place. Work on the detached garage was acceptable. Some of the work crew did a good job, but others lacked training. Dec '10 status: Recent winter weather has loosened shingles, and the peak of the house needs to be redone, including proper treatment of lightning rods. I just picked a piece of brand new shingle off the ground, which has already come loose .

After the new roof was mostly nailed on I walked outside and immediately noticed that they changed out the brown drip edge moldings with white moldings. The estimator never mentioned changing the color of the molding and no other trim on the house is white. Since the molding is nailed on from the top edge of the roof underlayment it's too late to change it back to a brown molding with the shingles installed over it so I had to later paint the new molding from a ladder which wasn't easy. Some time after that I went to run electric wire to the vent fans that they installed and found that one of the fans was about 1/3 off center from the opening they cut and that the fan blades struck the hood bracket when turned apparently because the installer pushed the fan housing under the shingles by grabbing hold of the hood instead of pushing the base. I bent the brackets back so that the fan blades would clear and used a jig saw from the attic to match the hole to the fan opening. After adding intake vents to the soffits, the fans do a nice job of clearing hot air from the attic. I should mention that soffit vents and electric wiring were not part of the contract. The new gutters do an excellent job of keeping leaves out but the problem we have with them is that heavy rain flow running down the valleys on the front and rear of the house shoots mostly over the top of the hooded gutters. The gutter installer came back and placed a diverter on the rear gutter which helps with normal rainfall but heavy rain still goes over the top. A house with no valleys in the roof wouldn't have this problem. Eight months have passed and I haven't seen any leakage in the roof or around the chimney after inspecting the attic, that's the most important factor. Also, the Owens-Corning premium shingles made a big improvement in the appearance of the house.

Called company just after moving in on the advise of the prior owners stating the gutter are clog and to call the company that installed them because the company claims if the gutter become clogged they will unclog free of charge. I called, they gave me an estimate of $125 to unclog my gutters.
