It was free. It was still a new vehicle. They were reasonably fast and efficient. Interaction is pretty average. It was fine.

Since we live 5 hours away we had to handle all the repairs via the phone. We were told it would be over a week before anyone could even look at it. They finally took a brief look and said she needed a whole new transmission. They weren't forthcoming about what exactly was wrong and what it would cost. The service advisor seemed annoyed that he had to talk to us on the phone. We immediately had it towed to another company where we received the service we expected and it was half the price.

Well it didn’t go. It could have and since I am new, moving to the Lynchburg area, Berglund could have earned a new customer (I am very loyal to my service providers when I determine I am receiving consistent quality service). Berglund did not seem to be interested in my business. I had a ball joint failure on my Sequoia. Fortunately it happened in my driveway, but happened on a Friday Morning and I absolutely needed the vehicle for towing purposes ASAP. Called Berglund. Explained could have vehicle in their shop in a couple hours via AAA towing. Response from Berglund: Can’t get parts till Monday (which I later discovered was not true because another dealership got them overnight) and can’t look at vehicle until Tuesday. Kept giving excuses about end of month safety inspections. I understand service priorities, but I explained this was an out of the ordinary emergency job and I even offered to pay a premium for expedited service. I always schedule my service well in advance so asking for immediate service is a rare request from me – not an abused request -- only done when truly needed. The attitude of the Service Writer could be characterized as “not my problem – we’ll get to you when we feel like it if we feel like it”. Just my impression, but I discovered after inquiry with a dealership near Farmville that the Service Department can be very helpful to emergency situations if they wish to do so. Sorry Berglund, but this is how you responded to me as a long time Toyota owner who in this one critical situation needed an exception from the dealership. However, thankfully, a dealership near Farmville picked up your slack – my vehicle is currently being repaired by them and I expect even though they are an additional 30 minute drive from my home, they will now be my go-to Toyota Dealership. Sometimes management needs to recognize when good customers need a little bit of out of the ordinary help – especially if they are willing to compensate the shop for that expedited service.

Often Berglund Lynchburg Toyota Service will not answer the phone for hours. I always feel I am bothering them when I call. I called today, Jan . 15, since they had not called me. SERVICE should mean that, including politeness and apology. It is obvious that a mechanic is pulling the hood latch aggressively, since this has never happened to me when I open the hood. Although I had asked that leaves be cleared from under the hood before a new cabin filter was installed and it was sent back because it was not done. Perhaps the mechanic gave the latch a yank in annoyance. Anyway, phone assistance with this matter and attitude of the manager were not the best.

The sales representative - John Fano - was awesome!! No pressure, did not rush you, took his time and showed you your options. Upon purchasing a car from Berglund, I am a firm believer of "extra" warranties. Especially on a hybrid. I purchased the extended warranty for oil changes and extend my major defects to 100,000 miles. The service department (oil changes, parts, etc) SUCK!! They didn't even take the time to look for my contract or put it on file. I had to explain every time, and almost fight to get it covered....every......time. They put you on hold when you call, it will be at least a week before you get in (even for oil changes), they will not have any of the parts. They were very unprofessional, talking about inappropriate stuff. I felt they just did not care, whatsoever. It's 50-50 - sales great, service bad. Thank god, my last visit was the end of the extended contract for oil changes. I just hope nothing goes wrong major wise, so I don't have to go back.

They do a good job but they're expensive, all dealers are. They're usually pretty reliable, you make an appointment, and they do it while you wait so I like that. They seem to know their business, they know the car well, they do a good job, I've never had any problems.

They are fairly expensive. They are also very competent. They are nice and they know what they are doing. They are a little pricey.
