Gas is super expensive these days, so an employee using a company vehicle to run personal errands off-hours can very quickly drive up company costs that get passed along to us, the client/consumer. . I was shopping at Best Buy (an electronics store) in Winchester, VA on a recent Sunday afternoon (04/07/13 at 2:30pm). I noticed a couple walking affectionately hand-in-hand in the parking lot, returning from their shopping excursion at Best Buy The couple got into a van marked for Mountain View Plumbing. It was upsetting to see them out on a personal errand over the weekend using a company van. . I tried locating the company online so I could alert them about this employee that is using their service van for personal use. I was not able to locate a website for Mountain View Plumbing, despite extensive searching. I decided to call the telephone number for Mountain View Plumbing. It surprisingly was answered by a live person, but it sounded like it was a house telephone number. And, the person answering my call wasn't helpful. I asked the person if Mountain View Plumbing has a website and I was met with a flat "no." That was the extent of the call. . Personally, I would try to fix my own plumbing problem before calling this company, for these reasons: . 1: An employee is clearly using a company van for personal use; 2: The personal use of the company van is using costly gas; 3: The cost of that extra gas being used is most likely being passed on to the consumer (agreed, this is not verified yet); 4: Depending on how far and how often this employee drives the van for personal use, it might incur costly upkeep (again, likely to be passed along to clients in the form of higher cost for repairs/services). 5: The company does not have a website; 6: The person answering the telephone was not concerned about why a potential client might want to view a company website;
