Remax Gateway

We contacted Amanda Jordan of Remax to help us transition from our townhouse to a single family home now that the kids are finished school.  We stayed in Burke because of the school district for the kids, but had always planned to move "out" some when they finished high school.  We have dogs, are boaters/fishing enthusiasts, and longed for quiet and space.
We quickly discovered that our budget was NOT going to get us into a huge house or a large property lol but Amanda helped us stay realistic and hopeful.  She NEVER encouraged us to look at homes more expensive than we were comfortable making the payments on in spite of the fact that we qualified for more.  We didn't want to be "house poor", or constantly stressed that we were budgeted ultra tight, and she completely respected that and actually reminded us frequently to remember our goals when we talked about getting a little above the price range we'd set on.
Miraculously, the PERFECT home came on the market - 2.3 acres, backing to the water (steep drop, but still backs to it) on the Occoquan Reservoir - we couldn't believe it!!  Because Amanda had us get so many things in place BEFORE we started to actually look, and counseled us so well, we were completely prepared to make an offer immediately so we didn't lose out on this once in a lifetime home.  The offer was accepted, and let's just say it was NOT a painless process -many many issues along the way - no one's fault - just things that go wrong and come up sometimes and since the owners were living currently in another state, it was complicated beyond belief.  Throughout all the hassles, all the inspections, re-inspections, negotiations, etc - Amanda kept track of all the details, never hesitated to take my hundredth phone call with some small question, juggled all the paperwork without missing a beat and coordinated everyone and everything with considerable professionalism, a smile, and a positive attitude.  She calmed us down when we had panic attacks lol, kept after us when we needed to sign paperwork, and made sure everything got to the sellers and their agent in a timely fashion.  If she had dropped the ball for a second, they would have backed out and we'd be in some cookie cutter house on a quarter of an acre still dreaming about this house.
I have no doubt that without Amanda's skilled, conscientious, professional abilities, we'd never be where we are, and we just couldn't be happier - this house is PERFECT for us, and we still can't believe how lucky we are to have had her guidance through the process.
