Darryl and his team had a competitive price for my bathroom remodel, and I decided to go with Darryl's company. What a mistake! They did a rush job on my bathroom. I was at work, so I was unable to monitor the work. They made many errors in the remodel, including installing my toilet a good foot off the back wall. The bathroom light was installed too low, and Darryl's company would not make any mistakes without charging me extra for the mistakes. They also installed a vent to the bathroom, which leaks every time it rains. I am very disappointed with this company. Darryl just wants to get the job done, and move on, and collect the money. He is not interested in doing quality work. I would not recommend Darryl to friends or family.

The bathroom looks nice and people love our bathroom. Unfortunately, the job took a lot longer than we wanted it to. They started it in February and they just finished. They subcontracted out to other companies; I think they should hold them more accountable in other people’s homes. The two gentleman who started the project, did a good job. They tore up the floor and the old shower; they put in tile and floor but unfortunately, the company that did our showerless doors for the shower, was the company we had problems with. They didn’t put any type of protective sealant on the glass. When you are doing business with people and putting the money out that we did, we wanted to get the best. Capitol should hire their A team of subcontractors so people would see that they give the best service.

Ken from Capitol Home Remodeling was our selection for a general contractor after interviewing several others. From day one his enthusiasm and constant smile was infectious. He seemed generally excited to building us was would turn out to be a brand new home. Ken has been in the area doing this type of work for decades and is very experienced. We met with him originally in November of 2011 to discuss our options. We purchased a major fixer-upper and him basically remove everything except the first floor exterior walls and the first floor hardwood floors. Everything else, including interior walls, the roof, and the second floor were removed and demoed. He framed everything, rebuilt the roof, created a true second floor for us (the old was was an unusable Cape Cod second floor) added two bathrooms on the second floor and three bedrooms, expanded our kitchen out, redid the foundation and main support beam for the house and had to install a new staircase as the old one was not to code.
Basically the foundation and outer exterior walls are the only thing that remain from the old house. Throughout the entire process he was awesome. He really looked our for our best interest point things out here and there that we should consider. He went above and beyond in a lot of cases like installing our double-oven. The great thing about Ken is he always has a smile on his face and you can tell that he really, really loves what he does.
He worked with us on almost everything. He even allowed us to purchase materials since we got a military discount and he just charged us labor. My one criticism is that he can be really busy sometimes. Obviously we were not his only working project and sometimes getting a hold of him to figure out the upcoming schedule was difficult. Communication happened usually took place at the end of the day when he was home or in the morning as he was gearing up for the day. If you are expecting someone to answer their phone every time you call and to hold your hand then he isn't the contractor for you because he is an active boss hammering nails, pulling permits, and walking on stilts putting up drywall. It just isn't' feasible.
Ken is also a perfectionist. The quality of his work is amazing. Several people in our neighborhood have used him and said the same thing. He comes highly recommended and I recommend him as well. He doesn't just do thing. He does them right. Out project was a massive undertaking and while there were schedule delay, hey that is construction, we are extremely happy with Ken personally and professionally. Even when one of our sub-contractors was smoking in our house Ken chewed him out and made him go outside. He really looks out for you in every way imaginable. His positive can-do attitude is infectious.
