I found Ben to be patient and understanding of customers need to maximize utility and lifespan of appliances at prices which justify repair instead of unscheduled replacement upon equipment failure.

Ben's exceedingly polite, courteous, conscientious of privacy concerns and pleasant personality are genuine as observed by tenants and their babysitter at rental property in my possession.

Ben has meticulously and patiently tailored and then re- tailored solutions to meet my persnickety preferences when addressing faulty major appliances and two HVAC systems.

Above all, Ben is very approachable, responsive and detailed when answering questions and authentically interested in ones safety and sound, cost effective and lasting repair solutions.

Indicative of higher than average technician ethical standards:

1) Over last four years, Ben has also advised against repairs of some of appliances.

2) Unlike many technicians who upon learning people on premises are tenants, Ben is respectful, mindful of tenants privacy, does quality work.  Unethical technicians, absent of conscious will do a slaphappy, shoddy job and leave a mess for tenants to clean up after their departure under assumption property owner will not scrutinize repair or installation.

In short, Ben takes call, schedules and executes service, ensures major appliance or HVAC is in running order and answers follow-up questions, requests etc. as there are no layers of technicians, call center employees nor trouble ticket numbers to annoy homeowners.

My basement flooded and I needed my appliances inspected for insurance purposes.  Called at 2 pm and he was on a job but said Ben could make it to my home buy 3:30 or so.  He called back to let me know he was on his way and arrived around 3:15 PM. He inspected my freezer, water heater, and dryer and provided me with estimates for replacement and/or repair. I couldn't get reparirs today - have to wait for insurance approval. Professional, communicative, and fast. Would/will use again.

Went perfectly. Ben is extremely knowledgable on all things appliance or hot water heater oriented. Water was backing up in kitchen sink. Called him on a Sat. morning and he was there in 1 hour. Diagnosed my problems and skillfully repaired Water heater and disposal. Price was unbelievably cheap - $100.  Ben has done other work for me before and for my girlfriend. He is now my appliance man of choice.

They don't really do anything. They are not good at all. I got it in case I had a need. I saw it on television so I went and purchased it for future use.

What you need to be done, they don't do it. Right now I am having problems with my gas stove. Another company came and looked at it and said the part that hooks to the stove that hooks to the gas outlet has gone bad. It needs to be tightened or it needs to be changed. That's on the stove and not on the pipe that belongs to the gas company. I called American Residential and they said they don't do that! They don't do nothing! Its a matter of taking an old part off the stove, putting the new one, and reconnecting the gas. They said that's the pipe. And its not the pipe! Its a piece! So I cancelled it today.

I would not select them at all. If you do, read very well. They require that you be a full member for a full year or you have to pay $49,99 to cancel. They are unresponsive and they do not cover nothing that is really needed.

I called Ben about 8:30 AM and explained the problem I was having and by 10:15 it was fixed. He explained the part that went bad is common and usually only last for approximately 8-10 years. Ours is 6 years old but that's ok. Having it repaired vs buying a new one was a big savings :)
Thanks Ben! I will refer you to anyone who asks !

Overall it went fine. He came and the dryer needed a new drum belt. It is true that I could have gotten the part cheaper on line, but I did not, and I don't think his markup was higher than other people would have charged. He came and he fixed it without a problem.
I WILL CALL THIS GUY AGAIN BECAUSE:
1) Generally, he has been responsive
2) He appears to be very honest and it not looking to nickel and dime you. For example:
a) The dryer broke again (not his fault) and after hearing the problem told us we needed a new dryer. He did not try to sell us another repair, etc.
b) I asked him about fixing our attic fan, he said he could but told us it would be cheaper for him to by the fan and then have him install it. Most everyone else wanted to buy the fan, too.
The reason he got a be for and quot;Responsivenessand quot; is two-fold:
1) He charges a fee to come out (so does everyone) but he told my wife since we have used him a few times we would get a discount (which we did) and he would send us something (a coupon or maybe a refrigerator magnet) so that we would get that discount each time we use him. We have not gotten that yet. Now, in fairness, I presume he still will give us the discount each time but I would prefer to have something from him like he mentioned.
2) Second, when he had the dryer apart my wife decided to vacuum up all the lint that was on the inside. He offered to do it. It was only after the fact that he mentioned this is usually a service he charges for, but he was not going to in that case. It was not a big deal, just something he needs to be aware of from a customer service perspective.

I began contacting this company mid March.  Even after speaking with them and telling them the problem I was told I would get a call back.  After waiting days I would call back and not get an answer.  Finally one day I was able to reach him and secured an appointment.  I was told that it was either an issue with my sensor or my control panel.  When he arrived he brought a sensor to replace the one in my stove...well that didn't do the job.  So at this point I'm out $200.00.  He then tells me that he needs to order the panel which according to him is $212.00 (but I've found it cheaper online w/ a warranty) and that I'd have to pay for labor but he would never tell me how much the labor would be. I have decided that after I pay for the panel plus labor and add what I've already paid I might as well had done out and gotten a new stove.  Looking at the other reviews I really expected a greater level of service.

Our icemaker died in our Kenmore fridge. I went to Angie's List and got a $129 special with Ben. Ben came right over
to fix it, arrived punctually, and instantly knew what the problem was - our ice maker needed to be replaced because some tiny plastic piece had broken. He gave us the option of buying a new piece for $110 or replacing the whole thing for about $150 - this was the equipment price and she showed it to me on the Sears Website. I looked at the part online myself and found it for $60 and asked Ben why there was a difference in price. He told me he couldn't vouch for the quality of products on the internet (fair enough). I asked him if he was installing a Sears ice maker and he said it was not. I never really felt like I knew what I was paying for - why show me the Sears website price if I'm not buying a Sears product? This line of reasoning didn't work, and I paid him the Sears price since I'd agreed to the replacement in the first place.
Maybe I got cheated, and maybe I didn't. The whole thing simply felt off, so I'll look elsewhere the next time I have an appliance repair.

"i did show you the ice maker on sears website( $110).. and the part number.so no surprises or hiden fees. the ice maker that we install is a sears part .it has the same part nunber. we di get our parts from sears.not from ebay like you find it for a $60. thank you any way.we try to be fair with our customer."

Ben was great and patient with my crazy schedule. I was a little disappointed to learn after the work was done that since I had already purchased the part, he didn't warranty the work. Since parts weren't included in the deal, and the price reflects having to make good on a warranty claim (I would assume) it seems that the price should have been reduced somewhat to account for that. Otherwise, it's working great!

The left front burner of an older GE cooktop range was not heating. Ben of American Residential Appliances Heating and Cooling, ARA (I picked this company from Angie's List - it was highly rated) came out and looked at the stove - he said it was probably a switch, ordered the part and returned a few days later to install the switch. The actual repair consisted of replacing a switch for the front left burner and it is now working fine.
Ben was punctual, professional and very pleasant. When he first came to my home, Ben advised of what could be wrong (probably a switch) and the price of the part. Once okay'ed to proceed, he ordered the switch, returned two days later and installed the part.
The cost for the part and labor was reasonable. I would recommend this company without reservations and would use them again, as needed.

I called and left a message, and within no more than a couple of hours, Ben returned my call. He said he would be able to come and look at my washer the same day. He called about 45 minutes prior to arrival, and was on time. The problem was quickly assessed, and he had the part on hand. I don't think the call took more than 30 minutes. I'm keeping his number!!

Got in touch with Ben Sunday afternoon, he was there by 9:00AM the next morning, calling 15 minutes before he arrived (as he said he would). Talked me through the diagnosis, replaced the busted part, and was out the door in 20 minutes or so. No muss, no fuss. Will certainly call him again if another appliance goes on the fritz.

The other service said no part was needed and fixed it in 30 minutes for the regular service price, plus I could not understand a word he said. Total rip off.
