My first problem with them was a delay in getting the job done. I would have liked to been home when they were here.
They made a complete mess of the yard. I came home from work to find three deer eating the azalea bush next to the tree. The bush had been covered with deer netting but the worker removed it and did not replace it so the deer just came right in. This was within two weeks or so of the bush blooming, which, of course, it didn't do since it had been eaten.
They left branches, twigs and lots of sawdust all over my yard and my neighbor's front yard. I was having arm surgery the next day but there I was, trying to clean up as much as I could with one bum arm. The side yard between me and my neighbor was an absolute mud pit.
But the worst part was that they ruined a 20-year hybrid dogwood tree in the process of taking down the birch tree. I could see where they had sawed off several branches of the dogwood, probably because they allowed branches of the birch tree to fall on it and they hadn't protected it. The tree is simply lost. Half of it is just gone.
When I called to complain about this, I was assured by Christine that they would come out and inspect the damage and replace what they had ruined. Instead, all I got was a voice mail from someone who had merely checked with his crew, took their word for whatever excuses they came up with and never bothered to come out and check the damage or anything.
Yes, they took the tree down but I would NEVER use this company again.
I waited a long time to write this, despite much prompting from Angie's List, because it is not my intent to ruin anyone, which I doubt this review would do, but I'm still not over how poorly I was treated by this company.
I experienced medical issues and was not available to schedule the work for months. When I recovered enough to schedule the work, they completed the job as soon as possible. They worked with my wife on the day of the job and were very courteous.
"Thank you [member name removed]. We appreciate your patience. I realize the scheduling this time of year can be tricky and take some time. You were, as were most of our clients, patient in allowing us scheduling flexibility, and were pleased with the results, it seems, in the end. Again, we thank you!"
"In response: Again, we have NEVER done work for this individual, as with 95 + % of the negative ratings here. We are close to a 100% satisfaction rating with our years of repeat clients whom do not even require an estimate, inclusive of our new clients who are almost always pleased. I believe if one has NEVER received a service from a company that they should not be entitled nor feel entitled to produce a rating. This baffles me. Either way, it is always regretful when someone is displeased. Lastly, and as I have mentioned in previous responses, under the terms of our agreement with the AL Big Deal, we have SIX (6) months to complete all work. We would have done so flawlessly."
""I" wanted...here again...me, me, me. Had you specified your hopes of a timeline in the very thoroughly constructed form sent to you we may have been able to have appeased your hopes. You did not. True, six months was and still is our agreement with Angie's List as was explained to this purchaser. This is how we made a determination of the type of response we that would be acceptable for us. I'm disappointed to hear you were displeased. This is why I suggested you recieve a full refund through Angie's List."
"There were so many correspondences back and forth with this individual that he himself admitted to being confused. I have the trail of emails to date not to mention the numerous phone calls. All of which I was all to happy to oblige. It was determined that upon our crews arrival we would make the necessary adjustments to the original proposal with the guidance of the homeowner again, since he continually changed and re-changed the original proposal. That being said, the original proposal would have been no problem to have executed in a timely manner. However, this was not to be the case once we arrived as the homeowner was anything but concrete is his decisions of what work he was to have done.....within the parameters of the $400.00 'deal'. It was more than apparent to us that this individual was looking to have much more than the $400.00 'deal', yet only willing to pay the $200.00. We were already offering $200.00 worth of services for $0.00. We are not able nor willing to exceed this. The terms were clear. Therefore, I recommended he get a full refund."
"To be given a confirmation call is a courtesy, not a practice. We do generally attempt to give a call ahead wherever possible. I'm sorry to hear that our rating was so affected by not having been extended this courtesy. We make it a point to not interrupt our clients daily schedules and routines wherever possible as we understand how busy lives can be. For this reason we do not require nor request the presence of the homeowner for either the estimate or the job itself. If the prices were considered "high" by the homeowner, now or ever, they have the option to not accept our "proposal". This was not the case here. But the option is always there. I have to wonder then how much higher our prices actually were as this homeowner opted to proceed with the job."
