After the birth of my daughter's first child at 1130 am on October 3rd, I called Leesburg Florist direct and ordered a floral arrangement to be delivered that day.  The call was made around 1230 pm and the florist said that they could deliver on the 3rd.  I explained the reasons for the request and the urgency.  This was to be a surprise for my daughter and her husband.  Thursday morning, I receive a call from the florist saying that they did not make the delivery on Wednesday but would make it on Thursday morning.  Naturally, I was a bit unhappy but having already missed the opportunity to have it delivered on Wednesday I went along with the Thursday delivery.  As the day went on, I heard nothing from my daughter and her husband that they had received any flowers.  Late Thursday afternoon, I contacted my son-in-law and asked him to see if any flowers were delivered and he said no.  At 645 pm, I attempted to cal the Florist customer service  hotline.  After being put on hold for 5 minutes, I was asked to leave a voicemail and they would call me back.  Since they closed for the day in 10 minutes, I severely doubted that I would actually get a return phone call that evening.  Thus, I called the florist order line and learned that the shop had closed for the day but I was speaking to an answering service.  The young lady was very helpful and called the Birthing Center to see if anything had been delivered since she did not have sufficient records to know if anything had actually been delivered.  She offered to call me back in 10-15 minutes, which never happened.  A little after 7pm, I found out from my son-in-law that the flowers arrived.  Friday morning I received a follow-up call from the florist.  The flowers had been delivered at 645pm the night before.  They were unable to explain why the flowers had not been delivered on Wednesday and why it took until 645pm to have them delivered on Thursday.  Although I said that they should drop all charges for their incompetence, I was offered waiving of the delivery fee.
If I had been told when I ordered that delivery could not be made on Wednesday, I would have called another florist.  Lack of follow-up on Wednesday and Thursday by the florist is poor business practice and inexcusable.
We will never use this florist again.  My daughter will also be spreading the word to all her neighbors and friends.
