County Weaver - Mark Cawthon

I found Mark Cawthon, the County Weaver, in his booth (restoring family heirlooms - antique seat weaving and caning) at a local festival.  His work looked very clean and professional at his booth.  I contacted him to have five chair seats replaced with rush material.  He was very helpful by both email and telephone.  I delivered my chairs to him in two sets - the first with three chairs and the second delivery with two chairs.  He told me that he will take several weeks for each set and did so.  I had no issues with the timeframe to complete.  These fifty year old chairs look brand new now.  The weaving of the rush material is very tight, consistent and uniform.  While talking with him during a pick-up, he told me how to clean up some areas on the wood portion of the chair (product available at a local store, #OOOO steel wool) and showed me what the difference would be on a chair of his own.  A bonus that really brought these chairs to a renewed status.
Mark Cawthon has honed his skill and does it well.  He was a pleasure to speak with and I learned much listening to him.  These five family chairs look good as new and are ready for another few decades of wear.
