Crowther Heating And Air

I had a new system put in and it's under warranty. Their price was in line. They did leave the area neat and tidy and put the old unit on my truck so I could recycle it. They made sure the thermostat was hooked up before leaving.

We contracted them, they were supposed order the items for installation. They did not order the item from Minnesota on time. We had to be without heat for most of the winter. We were not happy with them.

Crowther HVAC did a fine job with our heat pump installation, but they never processed the $1100 manufacturer's rebate.  When I contacted their office multiple times via telephone and e-mails about the status of the rebate, I never received a response.

It did not go well. They deiced indoor coil, added 1 lb. R-22 and checked zoning.  I called them about the 2nd floor only so I can't be sure they were not putting unnecessary charges on my bill for the first two charges. The service man who came to the house said the damper operator was not working and needed to be replaced to restore the second floor air conditioning.  He did not have the part in his truck and said he would call with the price. No one from the company called with a price for over a day so we called them.  We were told by a woman in the office the price would be about $800 and would take about a week to get.  Fed up with this response, I called one of Crowther's competitors. Within a day, the part was replaced and the air conditioning working just fine on the second floor.  The competitor billed me $330 for the $90 trip charge and the $240 damper motor replacement.  The net result is I got terrible service  and obvious price gouging (or just plain incompetence) with regards to the new part and I'm out $290 in addition to what I paid the competitor.  I will never call them again and will encourage my friends and neighbors to not deal with them either.

The serviceman was prompt, installation went very smoothly and the unit continues performing very well through all seasons.  Crowther also services the unit.  Their representative is very thorough.

We showed up for a weekend at my cousin's river property in Reedville.  When we got there the heat pump would not come on at all.  We called Crowther and they tried their best to get it fixed over the phone but had to send their technician to perform the repair.  He was there pretty fast and went right to work.  He replaced a little relay and got everything running properly.  Crowther saved the day for us and allowed us to have a nice weekend.  I just wish they came to Richmond so we could use them at our home there.  I would recommend them anytime.

I paid for a full central air and heating system to be installed in 2001. It cost me over $40,000. I have had nothing but problems ever since. It was broken within 6 months of installation.
Their technicians have been to my house 40 to 50 times trying to keep the system running. One of the more recent problems was a leak in my ceiling. It turned out the pipes had not been soldiered. Complete amateur hour.
I also had another recent problem where one of the units leaked all of the freon or other chemical out of the system. Their technician told me he would try to put it in on the warranty. I never heard another word until I received a letter from a collection agency. I called them immediately. They never returned my call. I had to call again after waiting 4 business days. They told me I didn't pay my bills. I went through the roof. I have not told anyone of all the problems I have had until now. I have left their reputation alone.
I think everyone needs to know before dealing with this firm that they are incompetent in the installing and billing department. I would not use them for anything.

We can always make an appointment with them pretty quickly, and they always come out.  They have always been professional and efficient.

Overall, fairly well. We identified an issue with the project after completion and they did come back to try to rectify the problem.  The solution was not what we had initially envisioned or discussed with Mr. Crowther, but perhaps could have been clairifed  and avoided, if it were spelled out with more clarity in the original quote.
