Russ accompanied us to the tile showroom after we had selected countertops and vanities and helped us with our selection to make sure all elements blended well.
Work began on time, as promised, promptly at eight o"clock in the morning on January 3rd and was completed within ten days of the promised completion date. Russ did all of his own work accompanied by two helpers. He did use contractors for the electricity, plumbing and shower doors. The electrician and plumber obtained the necessary permits. He asked for our input before laying the tile to make sure that we were happy with the pattern before making it permanent. Neither my husband nor I can recall any glitches which held up the completion of the project with the exception of having to wait for the shower door people to get us on their schedule and come to measure for the doors. Russ was responsive to all of our requests during the project (i.e., changing the height of the sconces, and adding more decorative tile than originally discussed). He also added in a couple of extras not part of the original contract, such as repairing the dining room ceiling below the bathroom where leakage from above had occurred and adding a filter to the steam shower.
Our only criticism is that clean up was not as "pristine" as we would have preferred, but he was responsive to our requests to remedy this.
The increase in the final cost was due to our personal choices and upgrades and not because Russ had underestimated.
Painting and wallpaper repair were not included in the estimate or in the expectation for completion of the contract. However, Russ's quoted price for the work he did was the most reasonable of the four companies we contacted for estimates. We also liked the fact that he not only did most of the work himself, but also stayed in our home supervising during the time that his subtractors were there.
Our impression of Russ is that he is an honest, capable, reliable, hardworking, and professional contractor whom we would not hesitate to use again should the need arise.
