Erik was able to retrieve the data (whew!) despite several issues with the hard drive that made it really hard for him to extract the data. While the computer ultimately was not save-able (it was time for a new one anyway), I was able to get all of my photos and files back on an external drive. The price listed above was for service plus the cost of the drive. Soooo happy! :-)

My laptop completely crashed and wouldn't boot. And it had been months since my last back-up. I asked Erik to try to recover the data if possible and to see if the computer was fixable.

Process was very smooth. Erik successfully transferred my data files from the laptop to the external hard drive that I provided. He confirmed suspicions that the laptop hard drive had "bad" sectors that were keeping it from booting. He recommended to either replace the hard drive or purchase a new laptop.
