Last year Hidden Lane landscaped my front yard.  They did such a great job, I hired them this year to do extensive landscaping of my back yard.  Again, they did an excellent job.   The design was by Anthony Piselli and the execution by Ovidio and his crew.  They're friendly, fun to work with and meticulous in attention to detail.  Their work blended plantings, brick/concrete/retaining wall work and rock-lined drainage swails with the existing pool and decks to produce a result that?s a comfortable living space very pleasing to the eye.   My neighbors and even Hidden Lane?s competition frequently remark how beautiful my yard looks. Hidden Lane?s follow up was also impressive.  They?ve replaced several plants that didn?t survive and modified the design to improve a few drainage issues.  The cost was significant, but the quality of their work and friendly service was worth it.

Hidden Lane went out of their way to schedule sooner than the current scheduling to accommodate a special event. The job was started when promised and completed in exactly two days as promised. Tony Orband designed and chose plantings that were unusual per my request not to have the same "builder" formula as other houses. He had good advice on what would thrive and which plants would coordinate well together. I'm thrilled with the new plants, the color variations and detail. A teardrop shaped base area at the bottom of the cherry tree and the plantings around the base of the trees transform a small, bland front yard into a pretty courtyard with much better curb appeal. They provided care instructions and scheduled a follow up visit. I plan to hire them for my backyard.

The landscape architect, Anthony Piselli, provided an excellent design that was esthetically pleasing (got rave reviews from my neighbors) and effective in controlling a serious erosion problem. His design also easily gained approval of the Reston Association Design Review Board, a prerequisite for us Restonians. The installation foreman (Ovidio) and crew were reliable, efficient, neat and picky perfectionists in implementing the design. The designer and crew were very forthcoming in accommodating changes, even volunteering to make improvements that I didn't ask for and weren't explicitly called for in the contract. As the foreman expressed it with a wide grin on his face, and quot;If I make you happy, you make me happy.and quot;

It was smooth as silk. They arrived on time and ready to work. At the end of the work day, the area was left tidy and all equipment left on the sight out of the way. Their comings and goings were as unintrusive as possible. Any dealings with the designer were professional and courteous. They finished on time and cleaned up carefully after themselves.The yard looked beautiful when they were finished.

My home is located on a 1/2 lot surrounded by trees. A three man crew spent all day providing the listed services. They worked quickly and professionally to get the job done in one day. The finished look was just what I expected.

We have been using Hidden Lane (specifically Linda) for over 10 years since they did our initial landscaping. They do our spring cleanings every year, including trimming of trees and bushes and treatments of plants when they have issues. She is very knowledgeable and her crew is always professional and does great jobs.
Early August we noticed one of the big branches of our weeping cherry tree was completely dead. I sent email to Linda, and she responded immediately and volunteered to take a look at the tree. She came by our house the next day and replied with the cause and treatment by email. She also noticed a different problem with our azaleas and also told us what to do. Incredible service!

This review covers several landscaping projects completed by Hidden Lane over the past three years and a number of smaller installation and maintenance projects during that time. They will be back to do more work in the near future.
Hidden Lane is an upscale landscaping company that provides excellent design and very professional service. Three years ago we engaged them to design and install a new front entry area and to design completely new landscaping for the front yard. We couldn't be happier with the results. The yard is increasing beautiful as the plantings mature. Their work has significantly increased the beauty and value of our home and has made living here much more enjoyable.
Over the past three years, they've been back to perform seasonal maintenance and to add plantings to other areas of our yard.
Peter Murray and his team are easy to work with, very professional, and highly creative. They recognized the problem areas of our yard and entry and designed creative solutions. These solutions were executed to perfection by the installation crews who were polite, professional, always punctual, and creative in their own right when facing unexpected obstacles. The site crews very obviously enjoy working for Hidden Lane, an indication of the overall quality of the company.
Hidden Lane is the best landscaping company we've ever worked with. They'll keep doing work for us and we've recommended them at least 6 or 7 times to others who are equally pleased with the resulting work.

Linda Nichols, our designer at Hidden Lane, did an outstanding job. She spent hours at our house on the initial visit listening to our needs for the project, which was a front yard remodel. Her plans exceeded our expectations for creativity and design. When the project began she checked in daily with us to keep us informed about what to expect each day. The workmen did a beautiful job on the new flagstone walkway as well as the drystack stone wall. All of the new plants were of a very high quality. They also were careful to preserve the existing plants and replant them within the new landscape. When we waned to change an aspect of the design mid-project they were happy to work with us to do so.
We were thrilled with the outcome and plan to use this company again in the future.

They came behind the quality of their plants and the landscaping. We had a couple of bushes die and there was absolutely no question that they came out and they replaced them. They were very good. They were very responsive and professional. It's a great company. They're a little bit more expensive than the others but you get what you pay for.

Hidden Lane is the oddest company I have ever worked with

3 years ago I hired them to do extensive work in my backyard. Build some walkways and re do my drainage issues, with an artificial stream and wood chips. They did a fine job. The only problem is they seeded one area with grass that I wanted to build a vegetable garden in. But they came back and fixed it.

Fast forward 3 years.
The chips have worn in places and weeds are coming through. To be expected. So I wanted some maintenance. They came out and Tony gave me a quote of $870. Fine. He wanted a $400 down payment, so I gave him a check. He said they do it all by phone
now and that they could not give me a receipt or contract of any kind (breaks rule #1 of contractors). But I had dealt with them before so I said ok.

3 days later I called just for a status update. They had deposited the check and I had not heard anything, so I just wanted to get an updated. Well, I was told by Tony that how dare I insinuate that there was a problem, and the he was working on things. He said that it was rude of me to ask for an update. When I mentioned that I gave a $400 check that had cleared and I have no receipt he got even madder that I would find anything to worry about giving him a check with no receipt. He then said that he didn’t think he wanted
to work with me anymore, breaking a verbal contract.

After talking to the owner, Peter Murray, I was able to get my $400 deposit back, but this was the oddest thing I have ever come
across. I don’t know if the company itself has changed from 3 years ago, or maybe the issue is just with Tony. Peter did say he would look into it, but I have not heard back, and do not expect to. I will move on, but buyer beware with Hidden Lane!

They are just helpful. They are neat. They come out and talk about what needs to be done, and they come out and do it. They give you a cost estimate before they come and they are always right on with the estimate.

Each time the designer comes, we receive the estimate at the same time as we are told what needs to be done. Our designer is knowledgeable and professional. My questions are always answered quickly and if more information is needed, I am provided with that as well. Landscaping is not inexpensive but I believe their prices are fair for the quality received. When the team arrives to do the work, they work tirelessly and are eager to make sure that we are satisfied with their work. The maintenance is always finished in one day.

Their service was very mediocre. They weren't exceptional at all. I wouldn't use them again. I need to write them a letter and they are willing to do some certain things. I know that a neighbor down the street also had some issues with them.

They were expensive but they were good. They did a really nice job and I love my landscaping. They were responsive and answered our questions. They came back when one of our shrubs was going to die. They will be coming back again as we have a warranty.

On time. Took about 5 days. No extra charges. Worked long hours and took good care of property. Excellent workmanship and materials. Delighted with work.

It was major work that was done. They were very prompt and extremely professional. They did exactly what they said they were going to do and when they said they were going to do it, which as a consumer I think is a rare commodity. They did a beautiful job, but were kind of pricey. Their customer service has always been spot on. They were outstanding. We are absolutely pleased with them and would certainly recommend them to others.

Hidden Lane Nursery in Fairfax County provided a highly effective, innovative design that enhanced the architectural features of our contemporary home. Their price was somewhat higher than their competitors' bids, but Hidden Lane provided good value.
