Auto Service
I have been a loyal customer to Village West for almost a decade now.  However, there is one sticky bit that has always been a thorn.  I personally think that their lead mechanic, Rick does a great job with the auto repair.  However, the rules within the village west auto shop is nothing short of exasperating.  They have not bothered to find out if their antiquated 19 year old rules are still convenient for their current customers.  For inspections, a person has to come early and not only drop off their car, but wait for it.  If it takes 4 hours, so what, just wait around there doing nothing.  If there are 10 others ahead of you who had come there, so what, just wait there doing nothing.  While this may have been very fair 19 years ago, when life was not so fast, people may not have had more than one car, people generally had more time to sit around doing nothing, and making acquaintances in auto shop, they need to question if this rule still makes sense.  Whatever happenned of the very simple rule of queuing....first in, first out.  Very simple, very fair.  If a person has dropped off their car for inspection, and let us say they need to change their brakes, just call them and ask them the question if they want to get the work done.  If you are unable to reach them, bring in the next car.  You do that for regular repairs, don't you?  Then, why do they have a different rule for inspection??  Only their owner knows.  Oh forgot...have to conform to that age old 19 year rule of personally getting the same information instead of hearing it over the phone.  Oh...maybe they are not used to phone...makes any sense???  Not to me.  The front desk lady does a good job of repeating over and over again that this rule has been around for 19 years, and everyone is happy with it, even if i am there saying that I am not happy about it.  Maybe they don't believe in feedback, maybe they are in denial that the age of phones have moved on from land lines to cell phones, to internet, life is much faster, maybe the reason people are still sitting at your shop is not because of their preference, it is because of this stupid rule...realize that people have other things to do besides waiting in repair shops.  To the owner, I say, welcome to 2014, and revise your rules, please...even the constitution has amendments, so your rules for your auto shop can do with a little cleanup action.  I talked to Rick about this and he thinks that he does not care two hoots for this rule either, but it is his owner's rules and it used to be a fair rule.  Net result...im tired of this sh**, I'm moving on to another repair shop that actually has a higher rating that this, and is touted by many consumer reviews....Abbott.
