Scott and his team did an excellent job. They did installation of new hardwood, sanding and staining of existing hardwood. Scott tried a few stain colors until the color matched with a new hardwood. Even they covered with hardwood some areas which we did not ask. Communication was good and I would recommend Scott’s hardwood for any hardwood work.

They found the exact match for a discontinued flooring product. They fairly priced the work. They modified their schedule to help me get ready when I wasn’t ready on time. They came in a day early and finished in the exact time they said it would take. Professional, courteous, and nice people to work with. I would recommend them to anyone.

Scott and his brother Brent were extraordinary. They started early each day and completed portions of the project while also using portions of their daily schedule to complete other projects in process. They began the work on the exact day, Tuesday, August 7th that Scott had scheduled approximately 2 & 1/2 months prior. On the first day, they had taped up all cabinets and areas to be sealed off and had done practically all of the initial sanding on 5 rooms by 2 o'clock. By the second day, all sanding prep was completed and stain applied. By Saturday, August 11th, all three coats of oil based polyurethane had been applied and the job was complete. When we returned home, we were absolutely amazed at how beautiful our refinished floors looked. We could not have asked for a better job (or better price). These guys really are top notch contractors and I would highly recommend them for any hardwood flooring projects.

Hardwood floors installed in summer of 2015 and still waiting for him to finish the job. He was supposed to comeback and install the shoe trim in our kitchen. We have contacted him several times and have been getting run around. We have already paid him in full $5200.00 and still waiting for him to complete the job. Also, after installing and sanding the new hardwood floors, they did not clean up properly. He even used some torn already used dirty plastic sheets to block other areas. Scott is not a polite man specially when it comes to a woman pointing out something needs to be corrected. I wonder if this man knows that Angie is a woman whose website he uses to promote his small business. If you are an educated woman, please hire someone professional with better mannerism. Thanks!
Response from SCOTT'S HARDWOOD FLOORING
"Floors were installed sanded and finished. all the shoe molding was installed in the rest of the house. They did not have the toe kick on the cabinets.I finished and left shoe molding for the cabinets.Told them to ask the cabinet guys to install the shoe molding when they put the toe kick on.More than a year after the job was completed.I receive a call saying I need to come back and finish the molding.I have made 3 different attempts to go install the molding. Was told by her husband no you can't come today. You have to come after we get off of work or on a weekend.i start work at 7am and finish working at 5pm.I think that during a 10 hr.work day they could find time for me to put the 40 linear ft. of molding on.That has not been the case. You were quite happy with the floors when we finished in 2015. That's why I got paid.We even put on the new base board that I was not contracted to do.They also had dry wall repairs and other contractors that work in the house due to the water damage. We spend a lot of time cleaning after we are done sanding.I'm sure that you can find some dust after we are done.A reasonable person would expect to have some dust after having there floors refinished."

They did an excellent job. I can not tell where the old floors stop and new floor starts. They took the needed time to water pop the floors since I choose a dark stain. They provided me with 6 samples of stain on the floor so that I could choose a stain on day 1. Communication with Scott was excellent. I had multiple calls to him prior to this project and he returned them all and was very informative in helping me make decisions on my first floor renovation. I would definitely recommend using him.

They did an outstanding job! I would give them an A on price compared to the estimates I got. For all the other quotes that I got, I had to move the furniture myself. They removed all the furniture from the house and put it back in.

What a great experience!!! This was my first experience dealing with water damage in my home, going through Home Owner's Insurance, and hiring someone to install hardwood floors and stain them!
Searching on Angie's List and 40 reviews all A's in 3-4 years says A LOT!!!
The reviews were AWESOME!!! And I Liked the part about possible matching old/new hardwood floors that would allow me to stay in my home longer and shorten my hotel stay and Scott made it happen!!

Scott was SO helpful on the phone! 20 minutes and I was just 'interviewing him and his company'. He took the time and explained the entire process  multiple times; including timing of this repair/installation, how to work with the other companies coming in and behind him, that I would need to move out of my house for staining purposes, the order in which things would be getting done, that the hardwood floors would need to be acclimated to their environment for a few days to a week before installation , when I would need to move out of my home for the entire 1st floor of my house to be stained, and when I could move back in. Scott was so helpful and so kind to come out to estimate an 'idea' on how much cost for the hardwood floors, and once mold/remediation team removed mold and damaged hardwood floors, he came back with the 'real' estimate and dealt with my insurance company when they were stalling to help keep things moving in a timely manner. He knew his availability!!
Scott and his brother and helper were timely, professional, and respectable!! They definitely knew what they were doing!! They knew how to lay the boards with the undamaged hardwood floors and new hardwood floors.
He knew exactly what kind of stain and brought 3 choices to pick from, ( and although I peaked later that day and panicked ), Scott reassured me the stain dries lighter and he was right!! The floors are perfect!!
I have received awesome comments and how nice my floors look!!
I have recommended Scott's Hardwood Flooring to 3people already and will continue to do so!!
IT's nice to know they are nice and respectable and knowledgable and professional family businesses in Richmond!!

I called Scott re: a repair in my kitchen (engineered hardwood) after dishwasher leak. My parents also had a problem with a toilet leak and buckled hardwood. Scott came out exactly when he said and suggested that I might wait and see if turning the heat on might make my engineered hardwood flatten out (it has). My mother had been given at $2900 estimate on her repair. Scott went over to parents' house and gave them a $900 estimate instead! He did a BETTER job than what the other contractor promised, did it quickly and came in at $850.
I would recommend no one but Scott in Richmond for hardwood repairs.

Scott is a magician! Not only is he nice and friendly, he's honest and hard working. Those 4 qualities are rarely found in service providers in Richmond. We have been trying to find someone to match the wood floors in the front formal rooms in our house to the kitchen in the living room in the back of the house. Sounds easy enough. I'd gotten 5 estimates from the past two years, including just ripping it all up and starting over. I was told matching the floors would be impossible and couldn't be done. Then I left a message for Scott. First of all, he called back the same day. He was able to work with our scheduled vacation. When they time came, we gave him a key and never looked back. We've had the floors complete for 3 months and they look fantastic! They match, are seamless, and they're perfect. Easy to clean and, so far, hard for our two boys to destroy. We can't wait to go out of town again so he can come back and refinish the older floors!

In September 2015, I did some research on hardwood flooring.  We were moving my mom closer to us and the place was scheduled to close on the property in mid-October.  I called Scott and another vendor for an in-home estimate after doing research on Angie's List.

Scott was the first to call back and we had a great chat about what I was looking for.  He was pleasant and personable.  We made an appointment for him to visit the home on my lunch break the following week.  He was pleasant on the visit as well, but he was efficient and didn't waste time taking measurements and giving his recommendations for products.

We were on a tight schedule so we could move my mom into the place. He didn't waste time tell me his schedule and the time frame he would need to get the job done.  He brought his calendar to our meeting and he seemed very organized with the jobs he had going on through November.

I met with another vendor, then made a decision to go with Scott.

Before the work was started, Scott was in touch will me to let me know the plan, who would be working in the home and what would be done each day.  His crew had a key to the home and I had no problems with them entering and locking up each day.  The job took about a week to finish then the poly coats took a weekend to cure.  Scott's crew also worked around a front entrance and back door tile job that I had promised my mom.  They were great and cleaned up the space as much as possible before they left.

PS - I know the pre-finished engineered hardwood was really hard to get cleaned up on the concrete first floor, but they did a great job with that!

Scott is amazing!  Possibly the best I have dealt with in years.  We purchased, and nearly gutted, a fixer upper with great bones, one of which being hardwood (white oak) flooring throughout, with the exception of a tiled kitchen and bathrooms.  Scott installed new wood in the kitchen, which had to be matched up to rooms on either side.  He also installed flush mount floor air vents on our entire first floor.  Had the entire house sanded and stained and 3 coats of poly, stained the shoe molding to match and did the stair treads.  During our renovation process, I subbed the work to save money and I dealt with loads of contractors - for the actual work and simply to get quotes (x3 on every project!)  Scott was so easy to work with in comparison with many others.  Showed up on time, was straightforward, patient (because I was on the fence over installing wood in the kitchen) and his workmanship is top notch.  He answered the phone (!!) or he got back with me in the evening on the SAME day I called.  Every time.  Can't recommend him enough!

It went very well. Scott came and did the estimate when scheduled.  He worked with me in selecting a wood to replace the carpet and gave me good advice about a bamboo I was considering. He arrived on time to do the install and it was completed the same day. It was all very professional. His price was very reasonable for the job. I would definitely call him again for the next project.

I was extremely pleased with Scotts Hardwood.  Scott was responsive, professional and great to work with.  While he is not necessarily any cheaper than the big boys in town (most of whom I've worked with in the past), the quality of his work was definitely better. Scott is personally involved in every job and this makes a big difference.  I am admittedly very picky and was prepared for a huge mess when I returned to my house a week after moving out for the work to be done.  I was pleasantly surprised to find VERY LITTLE dust anywhere.....even the trim and walls had been vacuumed and wiped down.  I was able to move back into my house with very little cleaning required which was a huge bonus!  I would highly recommend Scott to anyone!
