At the start, things went fairly well with planning, installation, and completion of project; they worked well with my wife and GC. Almost immediately after installation, we saw problems with the quality of the wood paint of the cabinets. Many areas and surfaces chipped and came off wood - starting at month #2. It was clear to me at this time, that there was no primer on the wood, as any/all chips (large and small) exposed bare wood. At this point, we tried to call Mike. He said they had a 12 month back up for their folks to come out and review and touch up paint. He offered a pen stick to "solve" the problem; no way this would fix the problem. We tried to call back many times over the first year. At approximately the one year mark the owner came out and said it was usual "wear and tear." Simply could not be so - paint chipping and flaking from top to bottom (i.e. floor to ceiling portions and those that had no contact points; even several inches wide on the bottom of cabinets that holds our coffee mugs and wine glasses, etc.). By the end of the second year, owner apparently not wanting to help us - so set us up with an "independent" painter who said only way to fix was to repaint all - a job that would range between 5k - 10k; this after we paid more than 20k for the total installation. Unacceptable and we now have a "new" kitchen that my wife is embarrassed to either have close friends over or host a party.

The paint peeled off my cabinets, so it went badly. The owner, Mike, promised to fix them, but he strung me along for over a year until after the oral contract had expired. He finally sent someone out to remove the doors from the peeling cabinets, so they could be repainted, but to my surprise, he sent me a quote for $2500 to repaint them. He claimed that I, who live alone and rarely cook, caused the paint to peel of 18 doors in two separate room by getting water on the cabinets.
Response from Prestige Cabinets and Countertops

"We install kitchen , bookcases ,mantel and master bath cabinets in spring of 2012 and did another cabinet for play room in Dec. 2012 for Kathy [Member Name Removed]. At the time of the installation she still hadn't picked hardware for any of her cabinets, we completed the job . Then two months later she wanted us to paint some metal knobs for her. I told her that our finish may not stick to the metal so I wouldn't paint them . I told her to get some wooden knobs and we could paint them. Didn't hear from her until 6/14 that she had some paint peeling . I went by and took a look , there were small cracks at the mitered joints , nicks on the corners (where there was no hardware to open) paint peeling off on the false front of sink cabinet and door on sink base. I open the door and she had mildew on the back of the door where she had screwed a hook in the door to hang a dish towel. I explained that the cracks in the miters was the wood expanding and contracting and that wood moves. Also told her that sink front and door was water damage you could see where the wood had discolored where the paint peeled from the water. The chip on edges of door was from wear and tear of not having knobs. ( she didn't believe me) The bath vanity was the same way you could see water streaks down the front and back of the doors. I went ahead and repainted sink front and doors and vanity doors. She call back 7/27/15 said she have more peeling issues on the toe kicks and more doors .I went by and look and again explained that it was water damage . she disagreed . So I got my finish rep to go with me and look at the job ( still no knobs) . He told her the same thing and still she disagreed. Then in talking to her about the paint peeling on toe kick she said that the water line on her fridge had leaked but the leak was fixed. (water damage) The bookcases and Mantel have the exact same finish and are in perfect condition. ( no water) and doesn't get much use. We go the extra mile for our customer and want them all to be happy but this one there was no making her understand that these were not warranty issues. Even the guy she hired to refinish the doors said that it normal wear and tear and water damage.( He call to get paint color and finish we used, I gave him all the information he need. ) Finally on 1/26/16 we sent her this . Kathy, The touch-up of your doors and drawer fronts is not covered under warranty. Please let me know if you want to move forward with the job. We would just need the 50% deposit to begin the work. If you do not want to move forward with the work, we can set up a time to bring your doors/drawer fronts back to your house and re-install them. We definitely recommend that you get hardware installed. We took her doors back !! Mike Waller President of Prestige Cabinets"

They were done quickly and they are very good quality. We even have self -closing drawers. They also put in a farm sink in too. They are beautiful and were reasonably priced for being custom cabinets. I plan to call them back to do work for our kitchen island and our media center as well.

Mike Waller and those in his employ created some beautiful custom cabinets for us. Not only are they gorgeous but the craftsmanship is excellent. In addition his installer was meticulous and did an excellent job. They were responsive, prompt and patient in answering all of our questions, some likely inane and some not so much. One of the real pluses was that Mike was not afraid to tell us when we had gone off the deep end in some things we thought we wanted and he did it without making us feel like we were total idiots and which were fact based on the various installation engagements Prestige has completed. We got other estimates from other vendors and too often they just agreed with what we asked for and I'm assuming that was just an attempt to make the final sale. We weren't and still aren't cabinet experts but thanks to Mike and his staff, we're a lot smarter now than we were.
The scope of our cabinets included, like many, replacing the existing cabinets but also knocking out a wall and expanding the pantry which included a small section for things like an ironing board, kitchen cleaning supplies, etc other than food products which consume the majority of the pantry. We did not rearrange the "flow" of the kitchen as our kitchen just isn't that large.
I would highly recommend Prestige.

The job went very well and I highly recommend them. It is a good product and they did an excellent job of putting them in, paying attention to detail and making them fit properly. I am dealing with high end cabinets and I did a lot of shopping around; their price is pretty competitive.

I met with Mike several times to discuss kitchen layout and the color of my cabinets. Even when I changed my color choice at the last moment he was very pleasant and professional. I am considering a custom bedroom closet and I will definitely call Prestige for that project. Oh they finished on time and right on budget...

They did an excellent job. Their installers were great. The price came in at a very reasonable rate. He gave great suggestions and took all of my concerns into consideration. They staggered the cabinets and they look beautiful. We have gotten so many compliments on them.
