Service was completed. Paid immediately. Good neat job. I attempted to reach Lewis Fencing MULTIPLE times by phone and email to have them work on another job. No call back (phone not accepting messages) emailed, no response. Yikes, never again. I guess they do not need any more work. I WOULD BE WILLING TO EDIT THIS REVIEW IF THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK - VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

Contacted Lewis Fencing for an estimate. Came out the next day. Seemed very professional. Estimate was good. However, then the work didn't get performed as quickly as was told. Tried to contact company several times. No room for messages on mailbox. That was completely unprofessional. E-mailed and got no response until I said I was getting someone else to do the work. Finally, got a return call and was informed that something got hung up in shipping was guaranteed it would be in on a Monday. It wasn't completed until a Friday when I was out of town. It just seemed very unprofessional as far as customer service. The fence looks great, but it seemed to be a big hassle. I would not use them again or recommend them to other people.

It went well except we were physically hampered and could observe the construction. When we did finally inspect the fence we found that one side is on our neighbors property. I showed the company owner and installers our property plot line, we called for him to come out and inspect the problem he never showed up, I have been calling and emailing since November 2012. The phone has so many messages the mailbox is full.

Contacted Howard Lewis for an estimate, he was able to provide the same day. After getting several estimates, I called him for a final quote and walkthrough. He was very accommodating with what we wanted to do, and was able to work around some other construction we had going on in the yard.
The work quality was excellent, and Howard was very attentive throughout the process and very patient with the other contractor that protracted Howard's schedule.
I would absolutely use Lewis Fencing for any other fencing work I needed.

Lewis Fence was one of three companies to bid on our job - they weren't the cheapest, but we were so impressed by Mr. Lewis and his professionalize/knowledge that we selected their company. After we emailed Mr. Lewis that we wanted to go with his company, he called and emailed back to set up for two days later. His group came, cleared everything and finished the fence in a day and a half. It is beautiful - he also backed it with a warranty. In addition, he followed up the day of with care advice and time lines. It was a really great experience.

Lewis Fencing did a fantastic job. Would definitely use them again.

Asked the company to copy a neighboring fence since we share a fence line. Lewis did a good job and in a couple days. A shout out to Andrea Fogel who manages their office. She was very good @ listening and getting back to me when I had questions or concerns.

Overall I was pleased, however I did have some concerns that could have turned into issues had things not gone smoothly.
The Lewis estimator who came out to give me a quote was a really nice guy who took significant time to speak with me, however he was not on the same level as the estimator who came out from Minor's fencing. For example, the Lewis estimator either failed to notice the existing door in my fence or forgot to ask me about it. I forgot too (partially my fault), and Lewis ended up building my fence without a door. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice. The Minor's estimator noticed the door, asked about, and asked about a half dozen other details which the Lewis estimator did not.
On installation day, the crew just showed up at 8AM and started tearing down the old fence. Nobody knocked on my front door or called my phone to let me know they were here, introduce themselves, and confirm the job details. One day someone is going to make a typo, they'll show up at the wrong house, and will have quite a mess on their hands.
Likewise when the installation was complete, they just rolled out. Nobody knocked on my door to ask me to review their work or sign anything. I wasn't even sure how Lewis was going to collect payment from me.
Fortunately, the crew did a perfect job--the fence is beautiful--and I had no complaints. However, what if there was an issue?
The Lewis price was a good $250 south of the Minor's price. The door accounts for some, but not all of that. Lewis definitely gives you a good price. But I would hesitate to use them on any sort of complex job where there is potential for something to go wrong.

They are very professional and quick. They put everything up in less than a day. They are extremely efficient. The work was all done free-hand and each slat was put up individually. We would certainly recommend them to anybody.

My neighbor and I both hired Lewis Fencing to replace our old fences. Mr. Lewis and his colleague showed up on-time and did a quality job. They also left the job site spotless. I would highly recommend them to others.

Howard Lewis came out to do an estimate for fencing. He showed up on time and was friendly, professional and thorough. He said he'd send an estimate the next evening via email, and sure enough - I received an estimate from him right on time! We scheduled a date for the work to be done, and they installed the fence today. It looks terrific! Some things I especially appreciated about Howard are the way he was willing to work around our schedules, meeting us early this morning before we left for work so we could sign the work order at 7am, and emailing me the invoice the day he said he would. I also love that we didn't have to trim lots of shrubs and things before the work could begin -- Howard and his crew took care of everything, and they did a fantastic job. We couldn't be happier!

The job was good. They showed up on time for the estimate, they got back to me right away, and they made suggestions about how the job should go. The price was fair.

After Hurricane Irene we had two fences destroyed and a deck crushed by huge trees that fell during the storm. Howard Lewis was quick to give us estimates for the fences and the deck repair so we could secure insurance company approval. Within 3 days of getting the authorization to do the work, he and his crew were repairing the damage and rebuilding both the fences and the deck. The work was MASTERFUL. You simply cannot find a better fence company / contractor in the Richmond, Virginia area. You may find someone to build you a fence for a couple of hundred dollars cheaper, but you will NOT find a better fence builder than Howard Lewis and his team. Their work is superb and we continue to get compliments from people who visit our home on how beautiful both the wood and metal parts of the fence are. When we got estimates for the original installation of the fence, all of the estimates were within several hundred dollars of each other. Fortunately, we didn't let price drive our decision...we went with a solid contractor who does OUTSTANDING work...Howard Lewis.

We contacted Mr. Lewis because a neighbor had hired him, and both of us are very pleased and satisfied.

I called five fence companies and Mr. Lewis was the first to return my call (within 1/2 hour). He came by the property to provide an estimate within 24 hours. He then provided a reasonable and thorough written estimate (including materials list) within 24 hours of our first meeting. His estimate was fair and as any good consumer can read, he has a reputation for building a solid, good looking fence for a decent price. Howard Lewis and two of his employees showed up on time and worked very hard. They cleaned up after themselves and thoughtfully filled holes in our yard (created by our Black Lab) with the dirt they dug for the posts. They built an extremely strong fence and Mr. Lewis stands by his work.

Lewis fencing promptly gave us proposal as requested, scheduled and completed work as promised and the fence looks great. Was happy to give him the business.

They did a great job. They were punctual and finished the job at the quoted price. The fence looks great. We try to deal with local merchants if we can and Lewis was able to come when we needed them, which was quickly. They often do contract work for other companies and they were showing us the same pictures another company had shown us, but less expensive. They were able to come 2 days later to do the job.

My experience with Lewis Fencing was great! Mr. Lewis is responsive, honest and very professional. Mr. Lewis answers his own phone and is prompt in returning his voice mail messages. After our initial phone conversation, Mr. Lewis came to view the problem, and then he mailed me a written estimate. After his team did the work, Mr. Lewis conducted an inspection. There were some adjustments that Mr. Lewis wanted to make, and he did the work himself. The adjustments turned a good job into an excellent one! I would recommend Lewis Fencing to anyone. My experience was first-rate. I only hope that I can find more companies on Angie's List that are as wonderful as this one is!

From estimate through completion, Lewis Fencing did an outstanding job. Mr. Lewis and his crew were punctual, professional, and very hard working, finishing in less than a day. Our new fence is absolutely beautiful -- we couldn't be happier with the whole experience.

Howard came out and did the work within 24 hours of giving us a quote. He's a friendly man who offers advice and suggestions in a helpful way. The gate swings open to make the entire driveway width available for heavy equipment to pass through. This is a 12-foot gap, so making it work well was no small feat. He hung the gates on 6"x6" posts and set them in the ground perfectly. The result is a very large gate that is very secure, but easy to operate. We've received lots of positive comments on it and we're hiring him back to totally fence in the property.
