Please avoid my mistake and choose another appliance service company. I have a Maytag and Broughton is the only certified repair company in Richmond. My first appointment for service was in October and it is now December 29th. It is STILL not working properly. My dishwasher was misdiagnosed three times. Each time, they’d have to order a part and then come two weeks later to install it. I feel that they did this in order to charge me more. I have paid more than $ 400 for a repairs over a period of 3 months. If I had known it would have been that much, I would have purchased a new dishwasher. We have had to hand wash dishes for every major holiday. In the end, I am convinced that the original problem was a simple and inexpensive fix that the repair person missed. I tried speaking with the owner and they have been of no assistance. I will never buy another Maytag dishwasher that is required to be serviced by Broughton. This has been the worst service of any repair experience in my life.

Broughton Appliances on Lakeside came out to look at my ~10 year old dryer. Parts had to be ordered (thermostat and fuse) but that only took one day and the original visit was not billed. The tech, Kemp, was knowledgeable, efficient and pleasant. He even gave me the senior discount.

That is why I tell everybody because they are so good. Yes,I would use them again. Communication is very good. They told me what they were doing and if it would work or if it wouldn't work. They were really communicative, when they needed to comeback they came when they said they were coming and all that good stuff.

It took three appointments and over two months to fix my freezer. Whirlpool agreed to pay for the repair (they did take a month to send the new door.). I had already paid them $126 for the first two appointments. They refunded me $36 of that. So the price was the actual repair plus $90.

No problems. The parts were rather expensive but don't know if that was out of servicer's control. Came as promised and performed professionally. No complaints.

The workers were very good. They came back a couple of times because they had to troubleshoot. They had to talk to their boss about the issue and sought his input and feedback. So I thought they were professional, in the sense that if they thought they needed help, they went and got the additional help to try to solve the problem.

I was highly impressed with the service tech who arrived at my home within 15 minutes of calling to advise he was on his way. Very professional in appearance, manner and performance, while being a pleasant experience and interaction at the same time. First thing he did was ask about the current situation and status of the dryer. Then he 'listened' to my answer, verified he understood what I was describing and immediately went to work.
The full evaluation and determination of the problem was accomplished within five minutes, including his pricing information. Luckily, I had done my research prior to his visit, my wife and I had already set a dollar amount to determine repair or replace. I shared this with the service tech and he was in absolute agreement to purchase and replace the dryer with a new one, based on his calculations. The entire visit was less than I expected to pay for the service visit and the service call was completed within about 30 minutes.
I fully intend to use Broughton Appliance Services again without hesitation. More so because of their professionalism, integrity, respectful and honest way of doing business and treatment of the customer, over the cost. I give them my highest recommendation and will not hesitate to refer them to others. A great experience from the first contact calling them to the finished service call. No wonder they have been in business for 50+ years.

They are good people. I've known them for about forty-fifty years. These guys are no BS they are straight, they are honest. He said what I do it may last for two three years or longer or be gone next month. Let's try this and see how it works.

Mr. Broughton and his wife were very pleasant to work with. He came out to our house, diagnosed the problem, gave us an estimate and told us the part had to be ordered. They called 2 days later, scheduled the return and came out the next day and installed the part. Easy as that. The final price was even $15.00 less than the estimate!
